who else’s first purchased lens was a 50mm 🤔 ?
EDIT: we also make photography/videography content and we love jessica content, we recently recreated a famous kid cudi album cover. we're still small but every sub counts. thank you :)
yep 🙏🏾
It was my first prime. I love it when I'm not in the street.
Same lmao
Me. I'm using it now. jason_klein95 on IG if you want to see my photos 😂😂😂. I'm still practicing
Yup solid game changer
PRO TIP - If the 1.4 lens is above your budget, I recommend the F/1.8 lens
It’s cheaper and it gives you basically the same result. ❤️
Yeah 50mm 1.8 will be atleast go to for the beginners 1.4 will be much expensive
This^
Don't forget also to check out 3rd party makes like Yongnuo
Nasi Lemak do you know more 3rd party lens brands?
I did this and am impressed with the results, unless you're doing close macros it's pretty versatile. I don't usually go below f/2-4 for portraits anyway.
@@choumikac9467 If you're looking for an f1.4 prime lens, check out Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC.Great lens but underestimate.
I've been retouching my images for well over 10 years and I've only just got a wacom tablet... it's a game changer! I feel like I've been retouching on hard mode my entire life!
Which model of Wacom?
All those people commenting about their experience and I'm here like " How do I add a new layer in Photoshop " lmao
LOOOL it takes time dnt give up
@@bathroomdiaries5393 Lmao thanks that's sweet 😂
Me too.
Just left click on background laye and click on duplicate layers 😊
There’s a book you can probably buy or check out or something it teaches you about photoshop it’a not to difficult to understand
I think "Must haves for beginners" really depends on what you want to shoot.
If you are inclined towards portraits, you'd sooner go for a 50mm prime and a flash/reflector
If you are more towards sports it would sooner be a tele lens
If you are more towards landscapes it would be a tripod
etc
Is it bad that I love when Jess jokes abt not having friends bc it’s so relatable 😭 id so be her friend thooo🥺
Along with a card holder I use two battery holders. I got a set that had the logo in white. I colored one logo with green sharpie and one with a red sharpie. Charged batteries go in the green one, used batteries go in the red one. Gives me something similar to your card holder trick but with my batteries.
Not a beginner watching, thinking I won’t splurging on products bc im already broke. Ten minutes later I’m on Amazon with a full cart.
Same here haha
I’ve watched all of Jess’s videos and I’m looking forward to another❤️
If you haven't already, can you release a video of where you started? As in, going back and looking at the photos you first took when you first started pursuing photography, or when you were a beginner. I'd love to see how you and your journey started!
Jessica: you can find this lens so cheap on eBay.
eBay: order now for just $597.00
Me:
i found it for 50€ in germany
Here in Brazil it's like R$ 2.000... :/
You dont need most of these props as a beginner. When you're starting out the main thing is learning about photography and how to create good images. Once you've done that then you can start adding other tools to up your game or to join a niche.
All you need is a camera body, a decent lens (maybe a prime and a cheap zoom so you can learn different focal lengths and apertures) a second battery and an sd card.
Jessica you are just so much fun and have such great advice. You're just a pleasure to watch!
thanks for this! reall helpfulll. also I love how your eyeshadow matches the background! 🤩
Oh, thanks a lot for the new video!
I don’t know if you’ll ever see this comment, but I’m so soooo thankful for your videos. To be honest, they kinda saved me. I can’t describe how many nights I’ve spent in my room processing raw images in lightroom and feeling really lonely, but thanks to you it has changed. I rewatched most of your videos, like, 10 times and I often listen to them while editing photos (for some reason it really comforts me and I feel less lonely/helpless). I know it probably sounds too sentimental, but I hope you don’t mind it. So, thanks again, Jessica! I really appreciate your hard work and effort
You're my inspiration. I just started photography a month ago. And I always watch your videos
Hello I’m new too only been shooting for 6 month’s now I love it there’s so much to learn and it’s fun!! Good luck with everything 😊
Did my first shoot today as a beginner for a small church ceremony. Needed this video! Only had one lens with me smh at myself. I've seen a lot of good reviews for 50mm.
When cleaning your lenses do NOT use the liquid cleaners! They break down the adveshives that help hold the glass in place on your expensive lens. If you need moisture just breath on lens than wipe with lense cloth.
😯
Thank you !
Your videos are really helpful for me as a beginner photographer :D Watching all your videos made me learned a lot of things about being a photographer and thank you so much for that!
When you say you don't have any friends, i felt that 🥺
Very helpful video...keep up the good job Jessica ❤️
I love you Jess!! Your videos are always so helpful 🙌🏽
yup, putting back the reflector is a skill, totally agree with you on that
i haven’t finished the video but i just had to comment i love your personality and you are amazing at giving tips!!! love your channel!!!
This is awesome I've been overwhelmed because we are trying to shoot products and man this helped me alot.. thank you soomuch
I bought the Wacom tablet thank you! Such a learning curve, definitely will need some practice.
I'm definitely going to get the cardholder, lens filter and the paper!
Why did I have to close one eye to know that my eyes don’t zoom? Lol
😂
I was thinking why no one pointed that out 😂😂
this was literally the first thing i thought off once she pointed out that our eyes cant zoom just like a prime lens 😂
sisterleonella is it weird that i occasionally use both. I like to see what’s in and out of the frame
I think it's because the lens optics is like one eye. :)
I love all these great tips thank you so much im about to dive into photography and ive watched a few you tube videos but you are soo helpful girl! Ty
Thank you Jessica...always Love you videos they are super helpful.....much love and appreciation from Ireland

Getting my first camera on Monday Nikon d5200 with Nikon DX 35mm 1.8 👏🏾👏🏾 finally 😭💖
LOVE YOU FOR THIS
you are a mood, seriouslyyy
Cool list! There's some stuff othere I hadn't considered before, but will probably look into down the line.
Personally, I would have put good quality SD cards as number one on the list, but maybe that's just kind of assumed? I thought it's worth mentioning regardless. If your card is unreliable, it doesn't matter how good your shots are. So don't cheap out, and always keep some backups! Keep one in the glove box, one in the trunk, one in your pocket, and one (or two) in your camera.
As for filters, I would just suggest that if your photos aren't looking great afterwards, consider the quality of the filter that you put on. If you've got a 3k$ lens covered by a 25$ ND filter, your results are probably not going to look as good as they could. Filters are also another thing you're going to have to clean regularly, so if you're using them for a paid gig, keep it on your cleaning rotation. Filters can help for the right situation, but keep in mind the issues they can add, too. Whenever I use one, I try to take at least as many shots without it, so I have a "clean" backup.
on a side note Jessicaaaa your makeuppppp 👑😍
Really good tips.
thanks for sharing as always off topic: where’d you get your necklace?
I have a 50mm f/1.4 for my Nikon D750. I absolutely LOVE IT! There's a reason it's called "The Nifty Fifty." I keep that on my camera for spontaneous shots.
Also, love those individual lens wipes. I use them as well.
Me: * has been shooting for at least a couple years *
Also me: * watches this anyway cuz Jessica is awesome and I might learn something new *
Oh and perhaps beginners could think about what platform to send their galleries through. If they plan to do portraits of people and send photos to them. 🤷♀️ I started out using Dropbox but since found an easier way to send client galleries through. There’s plenty affordable options out there. Some of which include Pic Time, Pixieset, Pass, Shootproof, etc. Great video Jessica!
Mam I am a great fan of u photography style and u inspire me to be a photographer
😊😊😍😍
Realy good tips 😉
Thank you Jessica
first time hearing and seeing a star filter.
thanks!
this video would’ve been helpful a month ago but i’m glad i’m seeing it now cause i probably would just brought zoom lenses
I did not know about those star filters. That's so cool. Just checked and they're around $22 on b&H. Will definitely be buying one. I wonder If I can get a bigger filter and attach somehow to smaller diameter lenses. Maybe tape, haha
Very new to photography, just bought 50mm 1.8 and a 75-300mm, next week ordering an 85mm 1.8 and camera bag.
Wow, learned a lot from this video.
Hey I'm a beginner photographer this video was very helpful thank you. I just have a question, my camera is Canon EOS 2000D what lense would be the best for that camera.
Also jesicca, I don't know where you got this from, but the on camera flash should in most cases be used off camera 😊 like using a cord. And with a diffuser softbox (a small one) to soften the light and give angles.
Can I use one of those cleaning wipes that are meant for my glasses to clean my camera lenses? Like, is it needed that the wipes are specifically intended for camera lenses?
I was wondering do you have any advice or tips for someone who want to begin an insta account for photography? I want to give it a try but I'm afraid that people will stol the pics etc
I'm a big fan of yours live from Switzerland ❤️❤️ (like always your video are amazing and so helpful)
"i take care of it better than i take care of myself" i felt this hahaha
Great video 😊
thank you! ❤
*Does a beginner photographer need a camera?* Did I miss that part somehow? I appreciate the content… I just thought a camera was the number 1 thing! Thanks so much, I love all these ideas!
Thank you 🙌
Can you make a starter series I want to get into photography and I trust your knowledge because your photography is kind of what I would want mine to look like
Thank You!
Thank you thank you thank you
Those reflectors, you have to hold them on each side and then twist. Try one of those 150x200cm foldable backgrounds, it's a proper workout the first few times... Also if anyone is looking for a cheap flash, I personally have the Godox TT600 (manual flash) and have the X1T-C (for Canon) to be able to use the flash off-camera. Had no issues with it, so would recommend.
hi Jessica this was very useful. could you link the lenses too
Hey Jessica, have you tried triangle reflectors that have a handle? Sooo good for shooting without an assistant
Oooo I didn't know that was a thing, googling now!
Oml the no-friend thing is so relatable 😂
At first glance at the thumbnail, I thought you were holding up a Flex cup or whatever they call it (for menstrual cycles) and I thought this was going to be an experimental photography hacks video 😂 No hate Jessica! I love your channel and it's super helpful to me!
Thanks Jessica.
I have a question when taking a photo how do you look in to the camera to take it as the photographer, im finding it uncomfortable squinting at the moment is there a technique or do you have to get used to it
Do you keep your battery in your camera or take it out when not using it?
When taking a photo of a person do you expose for the sunset the add flash? For best exposure?
U r the most clutch person on my youtube 😍💸
Some things I'd like to add
Softbox. A game changer if you want your own home studio. You can get different lightning and it's like 40$
Tripod. Amazing if you don't have a pair of extra hands.
Can you make a wedding video/photography gear you use for that event please and 😊
What are the advantages of using a retouching tablet over an iPad Pro, with the Apple Pencil?
Do you have a link to that flash?
Trying to find it and there is several that look like it
What's is lighting setup behind you would you Plz make video on it
Hey will you try out the new r5 and give us a review
Is the round reflectors she's uses the 23in one from the link in the description or is it the bigger 43in one that Neewer offers?
Thank you so much(:
Thank you
