For 20/80 riding, I run Dessert H/T front with Rallz rear. Seems a fair combo. For 50/50, Dunlop Trailmax Raid all day long.

Many reviewers will talk about tires' treads and "what that will do for you" while riding. I absolutely love and appreciate all the things you're talking about are from your experience and real world testing, not just what the tires are "on paper". It gains trust from your audience. Most importantly, I appreciate your COMPARISON to other tires. Determining whether to buy a tire or not doesn't have to do with how the tire performs, it comes down to how it performs against the alternatives. That is all that matters. If a tire is great but theres a better one, then that tire isn't so good anymore... A question for you, have you tried the Dunlop Trailmax Raid? I heard your comments about the Mission, but the raid is pretty hot right now with many riders. Curious about your thoughts as someone who has tried the Motoz offerings.

One thank you for watching and commenting....much appreciated!!!...On the Raids...I don't have any personal experience. I know a couple folks that have used them...and they've had no issues - they are better in the mud and sand. One thing for sure is the depth of the tread is not as deep as a Motoz - that I do know....sorry I don't have more...again thank you!!

I've got a Rallz I'm putting on the rear of my Xchallenge and looking forward to testing it at MMM. However, the Anakee Wilds I use on my F800GS are a great all around tire in my opinion. Yes, they're loud on the highway but I wear earplugs and am usually listening to music. The advantage of the wilds for me is they re rated to 105 mph and are a radial tire. I usually get about 8,000 miles on a rear and twice that on a front tire. Just my opinion but I thought I would share. Great video and I will see you at MMM!

Nice video! I watch all of Kyle's videos, and have settled on Motoz when I need new tires. I'm going with the Adventure rear and dual venture front. I have the stock Karoo on my Africa Twin, and I'm waiting to wear them out. My brother got a used bike and it had the Mission Trial Max,and he really likes them. We've been to Colorado and Big Bend. I likie the fact that you didn't like the Karoo 4 they don't even look like a good tread pattern to me. The Michelin didn't look that good to me either, but you're the only guy that has said it,maybe some people have had decent luck with them? I can't wait to put some new tires on mine. By the times we go off road again I will have th Motoz!!!

As someone who has been running a DV/Rallz combo for about 2 years on a 701 and loving them, I did not notice until now how badly they neutered the DV on the tubeless version. The TT DV is quite aggressive, that tubeless one looks like the pattern of an "ADV styled" street tire.

Would it be helpful to separate bikes / uses between heavy / medium / lighter weight ADV bikes since the wear ought to change somewhat between those rig segments? I would expect a GSA or Super Adventure to rip through tires faster than on a 50-80 hp mid-weight bike.

The RallZ front is the most DANGEROUS tire I’ve ever used! Had it on my DR650 for about 1000 miles, RallZ front would follow every groove in the pavement, would start howling about 40mph, and were subject to oscillation at 60mph plus. If the front starts to oscillate when the RallZ catches a groove it can put a rider down! I hated that tire! My DR650 went from a comfortable controllable friend to completely untrustworthy. Additionally the RallZ pulled off-track and followed unwanted lines off road too, I’d aim my DR on the line I wanted to follow and that damn RallZ would choose it’s own line, screw that tire! I bitched enough that Motoz warranted the tire and sent me a DV. Pulled off the RallZ front and put on a Dual Venture and presto, issue gone! I’m now running DV front & RallZ rear and they are working great. Next set I’m going with the DV front and Adventure rear.

70-85mph is my typical cruising speed on Texas Highways on my way to go play on the western state BDR’s. On the heavier the bikes (my GS1250 ADV) both of those MOTOZ tires are great. On the lighter dual sport bikes, 650cc or less, they will be squirrelly on grooved pavement or at highway speeds. I’ve run both and I prefer the Rallz. My favorite tire combo for my BMW 1250 is the MOTOZ Rallz for the rear tire, and the Bridgestone AX-41 in the front.
I know some people feel like mixing brand name tires between the front and rear is the equivalent of sleeping with your first-cousin, but I’ve been through more diverse terrain than most people. I know what works for me. And for the record, my first-cousin is pretty hot!

    • @ynotjf

@@kcrush1 - All I can say is my experience with the RallZ front on my DR650 was terrible. The author of this video rides a GS1250 and he went down on the hwy because the RallZ was stuck in a groove. Why chance it? There are too many decent front tires on the market to mess with one that might cause issues. IMO the RallZ should loose it’s DOT rating and be removed from the market. Thanks for the info on your tire choice for the GS and your first cousin..
