The glass bangles showered to the pregnant mother slipped into her hand by the relatives and close family members. The best days to perform the Valaikappu ceremony are during the odd months of pregnancy, most preferably the fifth or seventh month. This ritual is celebrated for the upcoming motherhood joy and ensures the good wealth of the mother and baby inside her womb.
Seemantham Ceremony Baby Shower (Valaikappu Function) is performed in the states of south India of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
Seemantham Ceremony Baby Shower (Valaikappu Function) is also called a baby shower in the northern states of India. The word Seemantham describes the meaning of the hair parting process just above the eyebrows where Goddess Lakshmi, goddess of wealth repose. This Hindu ritual also includes the method of parting the hair and applying the kumkum between them to appease the Goddess Lakshmi.
It is believed that when a woman gives birth to a baby, she is considered to be Goddess Lakshmi.
