    Seemantham Ceremony Baby Shower (Valaikappu Function) is also called a baby shower in the northern states of India. The word Seemantham describes the meaning of the hair parting process just above the eyebrows where Goddess Lakshmi, goddess of wealth repose. This Hindu ritual also includes the method of parting the hair and applying the kumkum between them to appease the Goddess Lakshmi.
    It is believed that when a woman gives birth to a baby, she is considered to be Goddess Lakshmi.
