I'm finally playing SUWA FOUGHTEN FIELD! I've been wanting to arrange this on piano for the longest time. This is Kanako's Theme from Touhou 10 MoF. Are there even words to describe this piece? This is a strong contender for my absolute favorite Touhou composition. I don't think I really have to say anything else. Just...enjoy!!

This is in my top 5 too! I think it was literally the second song next to Idolatrize World that I liked as I was getting into Touhou.

Pov: you're playing on easy because you're new to rhe game, and you find out the final spell card is harder than normal mode
The change in gameplay (in how bombs work) didn''t exactly help to get very far even on easy....
That is at least *my* lasting impression of MoF.
@@Joe4evr with her last spell on easy mode she fires the same number of bullets at the same speed but moving slower. The result is a dense blanket. Even with normal bombs it would be extremely hard

I do find it a nightmare, but it's not the worse one in her repertoire if I'm honest, at least on normal it was actually pretty easy. When I did the run on normal it took me several tries to get past her other spellcards, but got past that last one with ease in one go
Its my favorite spell card in the whole series. It just screams 'touhou' to me.
Not that I've ever captured it, but still.
Possible reasons this song is so good:
1. ZUN is a masterful composer
2. Viddywell is incredibly talented at piano
3. It's a Moriya Shrine conspiracy
Templates like that are forbidden
Kanako got a ropeway to Moriya shrine, but still cannot get herself into new games
endings of 15 and 18 dont exist huh

This song is the literal definition of epic.
You are battling an ancient god. One who has existed for many ages. The song oozes that feeling.
The funny thing is that Kanako is younger than Yukari, Suwako, Okina, and maybe even Tewi.

Theme so memorable that it is in every game from 10 to 18 as the Game Over's theme! Probably the theme that was most listened in fact Lol.
I definitely listen to it a lot during Touhou 15 hehe

Since the last comment I posted I went and 1CC'd PCB and both routes of IN. I've been working on clearing each route of PoFV (not 1cc just clear them at all. You know how Phantasmagoria AI can be). I'm excited to get to MoF because I hear Kanako is infamous.

Funny thing about my th9 experience: I cleared every route on my first attempt, and even 1cc'd with CIRNO and Aya on my first attempt.
Looks like beeing a god means that your theme was made for pianos

This is prob my favorite in all of MoF but it took me like 100 tries to beat Kanako, but at least i got to listen to her theme more tho i guess lol.

ahhh, mountain of faith. my second ever 1cc, but no doubt the more memorable one between the two i have so far. i spent around 9 months from first booting up the game to finally making it through kanako's last spell without spending a single continue... lots of memories attatched to this theme.
well done! you really, really, outdid yourself with this one. when 3:03 hit my eyebrows climbed all the way to the top of my forehead and stayed there for the rest of the video along with a slowly growing smile. this cover shot its way up to quite possibly my favorite touhou arrangement from you. such a perfect blend of tension and emotion... and that hint of faith is for the transient people at the end... keep it up!

She is not an easy boss, her theme seems pretty complex too. I wonder if playing piano can be compared with playing danmaku... Remembering hard patterns and nailing them...
me: gets to kanakos final spell on lunatic with 4 lives
also me: only just wins, with 0.20 power and no lives- what a pain that last spell is, so intense and easy to mess up
Kanakos theme is the best in MoF though, such a good final boss theme
Macro-dodging mixed in with micro-dodging makes for a really tough attack. It's honestly one of my all-time favorite spellcards. It's hard, but not "insanely hard" or "stupid hard" like some of the stuff from LoLK or Okina's Spring Final IMHO
Mountain of Faith has so many good themes. Kanako’s theme definitely has to be one of the best however. You could feel the power coming from this god.
Now that i've trought about it,i have never heard kanako's theme FULL other than some parts in MoF,guess im gonna discover it now....

I've heard several remixes and arranges across different genre of this song. Most of them can get boring, tbh. This, however, is the first time I've clearly heard the different aspects of the song and it really shines. I'll have to go see if I can find other good versions of this track.

I was waiting for this. This is in my top 5 themes at least together with Septette, Night of Nights, Necrofantasia and Lunatic Princess. (Yeah I like older games more)

This theme remind player about the game over leitmotif, which is kind of badass, is like saying "you're going to get a game over" in a playful tone.
from my interpretation, since modern japan is basically the grave of many gods, and by "grave" it doesn't mean god can actually died from losing faith, is that they became so much weaker, myths are no longer valued by people, and by losing the divinity of a god, their existence might as well just a youkai, so it's the "game over" of gods as well.

@@ViddyWellSA11 Also, just saying, as someone that plays the piano for quite a long time now and who is trying to play some Touhou OSTs, your arrangements are very nice!
To be honest, the Touhou OST is already generally pretty hard to play (I really struggle with the key changes haha), and with how you handle it so well and the other little details like the Satori maiden~3rd eye at the end of Heartfelt Fancy cover really make your arrangements stand out and be a big motivation for me to keep playing, keep up the great work!

I dont think touhou has one best, its just too hard to choose. Zun just knows how to cook with his formula, but this one is definitly pretty great!

How long have you been making arrangements by ear?
I've been playing piano for more than 13 years now, and I've always arranged pieces by ear, so it's all within the same time frame :)
If you're referring to the channel, I've been arranging stuff for more than 2 years. Touhou in particular for 1 year.

I don't make music sheets because I learn everything by ear and I don't really know how to read them/work with them :)
