Consider Kessill, especially if you are doing mangroves. As they grow they will be easy to raise especially if they are mounted from the ceiling. That is what Julian Sprung uses over his mangrove tanks and he’s been doing it for 20+ years.
Yes the Tuna Sun. It is designed for freshwater planted tanks. Think if you got two 360’s or even the older 350’s how sweet and clean that would look and you would get the Kessil shimmer. You could probably get away with two a150’s.

Hmmm...I'd get a replacement tank. I have a tank at the moment that I don't 100% trust and I sometimes lay awake at night unable to sleep because the image of it exploding keeps playing across my mind. I can't wait to upgrade it when we move in a few weeks.
OMG... I do the same! I think I'm going to try to see if it works... but I fully believe it will fail someday! That begs the question why would I do that? I think it's impatience. Only time will tell!
I raise dwarf seahorses. Macro is the key to balance. My tank feeds primarily on pods with some brine as a treat. No chiller, no gyre (although my reef has one because it needs the flow) Seahorses aren't this complicated friends. Learn about the species and provide food...done and done. 😊

Get marine depot to let you "test " out a chiller and UV. I know you are in Palm Desert which is about equivalent in temps as Phoenix but I hate having to keep temps at 72 degrees. If you ran your A/C to 76 and use fans to cool, I wonder if you can achieve 72 without a chiller. Most people around here hate chillers, they are just too noisy.
Hey Garry. MD has helped me so much already, that I'm just going to buy these ones! And yeah, we run our house at 78 in the summer, and with fans I can usually get it down to 76, so not quite good enough!

Really good question. You usually want the drain lines to be a size bigger than the return line. Here's an example. In my new seahorse tank, I'm having to externally plumb a chiller and uv sterilizer. The chiller and sterilizer require 3/4" tubing, but the pump needed 1 1/4" for the input and 1" for the output. So I'm having to plumb all three sizes actually, which is a bit of a headache.

I am so excited for your build. I just set up a mangrove/macro tank with a tide simulation. I plan to keep Caribbean corals and flower news.
