The instrument we call "saz" in Turkish can also be referred to as "saz" in English. However, the use of the term "saz" in English may be somewhat limited, and a more specific instrument name may be preferred.
For example, the "bağlama," a traditional Turkish stringed instrument used in Turkish folk music, can be referred to as "bağlama" or "Turkish stringed instrument" in English. Similarly, the "ud" can be referred to as "oud" or "Middle Eastern lute."

Hi Emma..Pls have a look at Fatih Erkoç (Turkish Luis Armstrong) with his killing jazz throat. His performance with Ahmet Baran Orchestra for a cover folk song called "Emmoglu" (Evrim Gecirmis) might give you an idea
If you didn't listen summertime from cem adrian, you should do
you did reaction before him song "summer time"....
Regarding of the instrument "saz" I may suggest the Saz Film a fine documentary of the story of that instrument and its similar variations in different places, by Petra Nachtmanova and her colleagues with traditional masters and/or players of the instrument.

Baglama types
There are several members of the baglama group, called by different names, depending on the region where it is played and the size of the instrument. Among these names, the most common names are saz, baglama, divan, cura, tambura (dombira), kopuz, boz, çöğür and iki stringi. It is also possible to encounter that these different names are often confused with each other, and the same name is used for different sizes in different regions.
The size of the reeds is expressed in numbers indicating the boat length in cm. The most commonly used saz, which is medium in size compared to the others, is called "bağlama" and gives its name to this group of instruments in general. Among the baglamas, the most popular ones today are the sizes called short neck and long neck.
There are basically four types of binding that are commonly used. We can list these binding types, which have become standard over time, from large to small, according to their sizes, as follows.
