    You can put a nylon washer between the end plug adapter and on the non drive side just to make sure the frame is protected.

    You ROCK!! Great job explaining everything. You explained everything in a nice, easy teaching/learning tone. I think you have a great future in CZcams videos or any other kind of video learning. Thank you for sharing your video and your knowledge!!

    We just started getting 40 or lower temps here in Wi. This helped sun the bike shop I bought my new bike from did not address this. Even though I asked . The answer was you can look it up. There’s kits. Lol if it wasn’t for supply chain issues I think I would have left the bike.
    But this video keeps it simple and neat. Thank you very much. Even though there’s not much to doing this. Those little details like Thread Pitch is something that can throw off anyone. Thanks again.

    I am trying to fit a Deuter stationary bike rack to an Electra Townie... (I know not the top-end road bike rider)... just a getting older lady with two bad knees soon to have double knee replacements. So I am attempting to get this figured out in the next week or so to have it ready and done when I need it. Doctors are limiting me to only stationary riding for many weeks to a few months. Deuter came with a VERY thin axel. and the bike comes with a thicker axle. I will work on getting measurements. And likely discuss with the local bike shop. And possibly Deuter.

    Chris, this is a great video and clears up lots for me. One question: on a warm day, can I leave the Saris thru axle in place and ride outside? Can I leave it in all year round? Thank you.

    Hi,
    I bought the same indoor trainer and my bike also has a thru axle of 167 mm (total length). I measured the maximum space between the tubes of the trainer and it’s around 150 mm, so I’m a little confused, did you buy a shorter tube with the adaptor? Or the bike fitted with the original pieces?
    Thanks for the video, really usefull!

    I have a question? I got the same axle as the one on the video but i have a small black spacer with the other 2. I didn't see a black spacer on the video. Is the black spacer important?

    Can you do a video on how to REMOVE the Saris thru axle? I’m actually having an issue with this without just screwing off both end caps. So the axle just stays inside the bike.

    great video. got a robert's axle project for my bike, too. Question, for you. I have a Cyclops Mag smart trainer. The locking mechanism looks identical to yours. How much force did you need to lock the 'lollipop' into place? I can get mine to 2/3 the way closed, but past that it seems really hard and starts to flex the legs of the trainer. I have the opposite side in the furthest out position, too. Thanks!

    Hi Chris. At 5:32 where you tightened the spring-loaded lever… there’s a lot of resistance for me. How hard can I crank that to lock it in position? Worried it will sandwich my frame and damage it… unless that only applies pressure on the thru-axle and none on the bike frame?

    Great video. I have a dumb question. So is this axle only good for a trainer or OK for normal outdoor rides?

  • @vincevillanueva5518

    Is it okay if the thread of the thru axle doesn't really reach the outside ?

    • @ChrisEnockson
      @ChrisEnockson  Před 5 dny

      Depends by how much. 1 or 2 threads probably not a problem more than that I would get a longer axle

    On my ribble endurance Ti, the 12mm through axle is 185mm long with a pitch of 1.75, none of them options you gave.

    Is it ok to ride around outdoors with this new thru axle or should it be swapped each time you want to ride on the trainer?

    how do you use a 12mm x 165mm bike axle on a typical drive train trainer which mainly only comes with 12x142 and 12x148 support. do i just need spacers?!

  • @BH-cy9tb

    Have a question. I have a 2015 specialized diverge it has a 12 x 135 thru axel. I rather use a direct drive trainer but no company makes one that my hub length will fit. This looks like I can at least use a trainer that made for quick release. Will this work with my 12 x 135. Thanks.

    • @ChrisEnockson
      @ChrisEnockson  Před rokem +1

      You could possibly use a thru axle to quick release trainer skewer adapter. 135 rear thru axles are difficult they only made them fir a year or so and they really limit your options.
