True story. 32 years ago I got married. We didn't plan a honeymoon, but my best man and a mutual friend got us a room for the weekend in the city. When we got to the front desk, the guy behind the counter was someone I worked with a few years before. He was so excited for me and told my wife how I was always nice to him. He saw we had a regular room and upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. We'll be celebrating 33 years later this month.
You’d be surprised. They’re in the minority..but they really do exist. It’s a gross mix of entitlement, not being held accountable for their actions, false sense of self importance, and validation from peers.
I traveled with my 3 month old daughter many years ago on one of the flights they upgraded me tp first class. It was truly a blessing because I had never flown with a baby before. It made all the difference and she was so good on the flight; probably because I felt relaxed too!
i personally would have killed myself if im paying thousands of euros on a transatlantic and than have a lil baby in my near. Glad ur baby have been nice. I had an agent do this for me - I was at Heathrow. Due to bad weather over the Christmas holidays, hundreds of flights were cancelled. The airport was mass bedlam the next day - like the thousands of people exiting from a soccer match. You couldn’t even see where the lines were! By the time I made it up to an agent, I was very kind to her, because I could tell the situation was very stressful for them, too. She was so grateful that someone acknowledged the agents’ plight that she found me a first-class seat for my transatlantic flight back to America!
This reminds me of the lady at the power company who helped me when my ex and I broke up, and I moved out. The power bill was in my name and our mutual friends told me that he had every light on, the AC turned all the way down, and was running other things plugged into the wall in an attempt to run the bill up as much as possible. I drove by, and sure enough, every light was on. I called the power company and asked them to shut it off, and she said it was after hours and I'd need to wait until Monday. So, I told her everything that was going on, and she responded, "Oh hell no, baby. Hold on... I'm getting someone out there right now to turn it off, and I'm going to waive the after-hours fee for you." My ex started blowing my phone up about 30 minutes later. To this day, I love that lady. Girl to girl, she had my back. ❤
I remember visiting Vegas(I go often) But a friend recommended tipping 20 bucks to the front desk staff, since they're often forgotten. I put the 20 on the desk, told the lady it was for her. We continued to talk and shared stories. It happened to be my 40th. She upgraded me to a huge 1 bedroom suite. The next time I went, over a year later, she happened to help me, and I started asking her how her son was and his soccer. She was shocked I remembered and before even giving her the money, she upgraded me again. All because I was kind and remembered her. It really goes a long way with people. Side note, I loved this movie❤
I've found just being nice to the person and asking the person checking you in how they're doing and being empathetic as they are often having a stressful day often ends up in a free upgrade.
was leaving for a flight and got to the gate right as the attendant got there and while she was trying to turn on her computer and get set up the woman in front of me just started screaming at her about how she needed to get her seat and such. once she left i apologized and talked to her for a bit, she was an incredibly kind woman. got her a candy bar from the shop before i left and when i went to board she had upgraded me and i gave her that candy bar. kindness is always worth it.
seeing how my last boss ignored my complaints about fireable offenses for over a year and a half, listen to false complaints from coworker A even with coworkers B, C, and D stating it did not happen, and forced coworker B to transfer departments cause that same false complaint coworker said coworker B wanted to and coworker B denied wanting to switch departments. she made the right move
This happened to me. My flight from Jeddah to Malaysia, and I bought an economy. Upon arriving at Kuala Lumpur, the ground attendant was so kind, and we had a brief conversation about life and family. Suddenly, he asked for my passport and ticket, and after a minute of clicking on the computer, he told me that I had upgraded to First class without adding a charge for the ticket. I was in awe. Are you serious? He just said yes. You are in first class and have a nice trip. My first class in over ten years of travelling; I cannot say how to thank him.
This happened to my kids who were traveling alone for the first time. After a few mix ups from airport staff their direct flight was switched around and they would now have had to stay overnight at an airport before transferring planes to continue. I started crying but remained respectful and the supervisor asked for the kids passports and said she would take care of things the best she could. After 10 mins she came back with first class tickets for them on a flight that had a 20min layover and said she would have an attendant escort them to the next plane. I was so relieved and grateful, I hugged her and cried more. My kids were so spoiled on that flight they still talk about it years later 💗
omg i can tell that was such a stressful situation especially that it involved your children i’m glad they were nice and treated your kids well it’s nice to think there are still good people
I was helped in a similar way at the airport no too long ago I missed my flight by a few seconds and then the lady helped me get on the next flight within 10 mins going to the same place I was beyond grateful for her
The lady who upgraded her to first class is such a nice person Edit:not to be the one person who says not to be that one person but thank you for all the likes.
I work in service industry If a customer is being nice especially when having a bad, i really just feel like doing something for them. Sometimes just smiling to service providers can make their day.
I was having a horrific day (multiple reasons). I stopped into a fast food place, by this time nearly in tears. The gentleman ringing me up asked me if I would like lemon in the water I requested (this was the kind of fast food restaurant that would never offer lemons like that). Such a simple thing. When my order came, he asked if he could help me carry it to my table. Again, COMPLETELY you would never get an offer for at a place like this. I guess he could tell by the look on my face that I needed a little kindness. Several days later, I called the restaurant and got his name and proceeded to write the corporate office with an absolutely glowing and grateful report on this employee. That was 30 years ago. To this day I still remember that man. We never know when a tiny kindness when it's really needed can actually impact someone profoundly. ♥️
I always make it a point to be extra nice and friendly to anyone I encounter that deals with the public in general. I can't recall the number of times I've gotten free drinks, little extra perks, and even a champagne bottle on my birthday. I appreciate everything y'all do and put up with. ❤️❤️❤️
I had to travel for work and my boss insisted I worked seen patients until close to my boarding time. I was so late that i had a unit secretary of the diabetes floor call the airline to alert them and give a heads up i may need to be put in another flight in case I was not able to make it. I have no idea what she told them. When I arrived barely on time the staff treated me with such kindness and upgraded me to first class. For a humble nurse that was the greatest treat!
You're a nurse, taking care of others. Those others could possibly be relatives, friends of the ones that helped you out, or could have even been some that you cared for. IMO, this is how society SHOULD operate in the first place.
Have a family friend who used to work in an airport, there are almost ALWAYS extra first class seats that any other flyer can be upgraded to ridiculously easily, in fact airport employees are RECCOMENDED to upgrade economy flyers to first class if they believe it will lead to more loyal customers in their airline. Always be nice to airport employees
But according to the agents they can’t upgrade without you paying extra fees unless the employee is an executive 🤔. At least that’s what I’ve been told before
The gist of this story is that she works for an art gallery owner, gets invited to the trip, and gets upgraded to first class, as seen in the video. She then meets this guy in first class and starts lying more and more about who she is, and pretends to have her boss's job when talking to the guy. They fall madly in love, but her lies start getting out of control. Does she manage to keep the guy? Does her life fall apart, or get way better? See next time... on Dragon Ball Z!
I’ve always gotten to the airport way early, just so I don’t have to rush. One time I was flying Iceland Air and as usual was a few hours early. The airline representative asked if I’d mind if a trainee checked me in, sure no problem. An issue came up and the training lady said they’d figure it out later but I said go ahead and do the full training. Luckily no one else was checking in so they had some thorough training. At the end she thanked me so much for being patient and polite. She also upgraded me to first class. I still have the oh so comfy eye mask..
This happened to me in real life... My girl, Jennine, hooked me up on South West from LV to Atl-Hartsfield/ Jackson back in 2005! ❤ Her underlings were in mid conversation with her. Saying she didn't know any black folks. I was next, and we met eyes, and she said, "Yes, I do." I know her... I remember me and my mom were on our way back from Disneyland and got upgraded to first class. Fights typically make me groggy, so when I get off them I usually say some odd stuff. A very nice woman was checking us on to our next connecting flight back home, and I just started speaking to her. I’m not entirely sure what I told her but my mom says I was saying stuff that someone waking up from a surgery would, but it all made her laugh! When she noticed that me and my mom would be able to still to get on this flight, she upgraded us to first class and thanked me for making that shift bareable 😂 I was 7 and I never forgot her kindness ❤
I used to fly YVR TO LAX for work fairly regularly about 15 years ago. They offered $50 upgrade to first class. Nothing fancy like international(Malaysian business class is amazing) but so much more legroom. I’d book latest flight the night before I needed to be there and it always had space in first. Best $50 I ever spent. Got access to their lounge too.
I had something similar happen. I was flying to London from Denver. I got stuck on 2 flights (Denver to Dulles, Dulles to London) while the upper level managers took a direct from Denver to London. The difference was $200 in airfare. I was so pissed at the senior managers and our travel department. I didn't get upgraded, and I had a couple of flight delays which caused me to get in a day late. But while I was stuck in transit the senior mangers got reamed by the client for not getting everyone there at the same time. Had to have 2 different meetings. And the client treated me very well to make up for the fiasco I went through. On the return I got the direct flight (after I bitched). I didn't work for that company much longer.
I once had security upgrade my concert tickets. I was shooting the breeze with security before a concert and we were getting on well. During intermission she calls me over to the ticket counter and hands me front row seats ($1000 seats). It was the sweetest thing anyone’s done for me. I had a BLAST.

My in-laws, wife, and son had tickets to Europe in economy-class. While waiting in line, a guy was yelling at the lady behind the counter. He was not American, and I told him we do not speak to people like that here. I am not a little guy, so he changed his tone. We ended up getting the same lady, and after we gave her the passports, she took them and was gone for 20 min. I thought I had gotten us in trouble. She came back with first-class tickets for my wife, son, and in-laws. They all said that it was a much different trip in first-class.
My first time flying alone (nine years old) my parents were beyond confused when we got to my gate and my name got called to go up to a desk. We go up and the lady goes “we’re so sorry to inform you that your daughter no longer has her seat in economy” all hell broke lose until she quickly followed up with “she got upgraded to first class” My only time flying first class and all I remember from it was the badass businessman sitting next to me and the giant ass cookies I got. One of my favorite childhood memories
I’ve flown since I was 5 years old, when you travel alone it isn’t abnormal to have this kind of thing happen to you. On a flight to Miami I was upgraded to first class and sat next to a professional soccer team. When I got home I called my dad and told him that I knew why the media was at the gate, it was because of them.
This happened to me! I was about 7-8 and the flight was overbooked in economy. So I was moved to first class. I enjoyed the bestest coke (as much as I wanted!) ever. - Which was very cool to me as growing up there was water to drink and juice and coke was for very special occasions only! -
Something similar to this happened to my mom and I once. We missed our flight so we came to this guy worker who had set up a ticket for us that would allow us to get on a plane 24 hours later. We were halfway to our destination and too far away from home so we had to sleep terribly at the airport. The next morning I came to a lady worker to ask a question and they noticed that something was wrong so she looked over our tickets and exchanged it for a plane that would allow us to leave that same morning. My mom and I were in tears and thanked her profusely. She saved us another half a day at the airport and gave us more time to spend with my sister who needed us
I was on standby the only flight that I could get out to go home from my grandmother‘s funeral. And of course, when it came to my name, all of the standby seats have been taken, it was so upset, in tears, as my family had postpone my grandmother’s funeral so I could be there. A woman who is standing nearby, overheard the conversation. It stepped up and offered her seat to me. Turns out it was on first class. I was so grateful to that woman.

Back in the 1980s, I was an engineer for Rockwell International. I traveled to Houston every other week to JSC for 6 years. We always traveled on American Airlines. I had so many miles because of my travels. With my AA level, I was often upgraded to first class for free. The problem was, occasionally members of Rockwell management were sometimes on the same flight. They had to fly coach and they were not happy that I was able to fly first class. They tried, unsuccessfully, to have the policy changed so that employees could not benefit from travel. They were not successful and it did effect my performance reviews.

When i finally got my turn .. i said I'm not sure what to do can you help me with no demands given no rudeness. Just quiet and polite. She was awesome and got me on next flight within 30 minutes.. made sure to thank her with gratefulness. Simple to most but i don't fly much if ever get on a plane.. God is good. I was 15 years old, traveling alone, checking in for my first out-of-state/international flight, and the gate agent bumped me to first class. Turns out she was a former student of my mother's, who taught English and music in public schools for decades.
A couple of weeks ago I took my car in for service and went to a supermarket to get some groceries for my wife. On arriving there realised that I left my change and trolley tokens in the car! I asked an homeless man if he could split a £10 note, but he only had two pound coins. He said to take one and give it back when I finished. I did and came back with a pack of Kit Kats his pound and £10 for his kindness. Why is it that the ones who have the least are the kindest and give the most. ❤ I spoke with some the staff and they agreed that he was really good person and helpful to them as well ❤. I feel honoured to have been able to meet him.
I'm in tears I travel a lot and was upgraded to business class once. That was cool but not yet been upgraded to first class. No worries.... Its a privilege to fly any ways.
People should always just be kind. I’ve been in so many situations with service workers where they’ve gone above and beyond and given me upgrade/any extras just because I treated them with kindness and respect. Honestly it’s so much easier to be kind than it is to be an annoying jerk.

I have once been upgraded in first class! I was really tired and in a sweaty and dirty sweatpants and my hair all messed up. Then they upgraded me becouse it was a night flight and in the first class there was only a one woman and maybe 10 men. So they upgraded me to be next to this one woman. I got upgraded and I went to the gate and there was this man all in his suit and really like ”i am a richie rich”. I was upgraded constantly while an active duty Marine, due to wearing a uniform while traveling. Since then, I've been upgraded to first class multiple times for wearing business casual when flights were overbooked. I've had stewardesses tell me that they will upgrade passengers when overbooked if their appearance wouldn't be out-of-place in first class. I take the opportunity to have my leather, dress shoes shined before every check-in. I also travel as lightly as possible and pack bare essentials. I buy my socks, undershirts, and underwear on the way to the hotel or the way to breakfast the following day; if at all. Generally, I'm able to pack five days into a carry-on.

When I was in Anchorage Alaska, coming home from working in a fishery, the young lady was having some trouble getting the computer to work with her. So I was calm, kind, and made small talk, asked her about her job, how she likes it so far. Then she got the computer to work, and granted me free first class during my connecting flight from Texas to Georgia. Never been first class before. And I clearly did not belong there. Ended up sitting next to this businessman who was all hush hush about what he did (clearly I was not deserving of such higher knowledge). But she made my day and the following few after because I passed out nearly immediately on that flight. Big ass seats, foot and leg room. Always be nice. It can never hurt but it will ALWAYS help.
I watched the movie and this one act of kindness, changed her entire life. Showing kindness to others may alter their life path. Remember that possibility the next time you are presented with the opportunity to spread joy to someone else. ❤
As someone who has worked for an airline as a cross agent can confirm this can totally happen where the desk lady upgraded her, you have the option to do it for anyone even your friends given it's not a fully booked flight

For those wondering its a movie called "Upgraded". It's about how this woman meets a man who is exceedingly rich. He makes the assumption that she too is rich so she bravely and stunningly siezes the opportunity to lie her ass off about it so she can score the dream life. In the end she gets her way and the man should just feel grateful for her presence. Truly one the movies of sll time
Ummmm did we watch the same movie😅 she only lied at first, because she thought she’d never see him again. The unintentional connection she built with the guy, his mom, and family friend was genuine. Although using his connection and resources was shady. When it all blew up in her face, she took accountability and it ended up working in her favor because she actually had a passion for curating art.

was leaving for a flight and got to the gate right as the attendant got there and while she was trying to turn on her computer and get set up the woman in front of me just started screaming at her about how she needed to get her seat and such. once she left i apologized and talked to her for a bit, she was an incredibly kind woman. got her a candy bar from the shop before i left and when i went to board she had upgraded me and i gave her that candy bar. kindness is always worth it.
I wouldve just repeated what they said to the boss, idgaf lmao
No, she had the right idea. She may not have said anything to the boss. But she got her rewards from the lady behind the counter.
Doesnt seem like a “boss” but a family different rules
Knowing how the boss was esp the dgaf boss type she wouldn't have either. Probably looked at her like ok..my problem how?
seeing how my last boss ignored my complaints about fireable offenses for over a year and a half, listen to false complaints from coworker A even with coworkers B, C, and D stating it did not happen, and forced coworker B to transfer departments cause that same false complaint coworker said coworker B wanted to and coworker B denied wanting to switch departments. she made the right move
Something tells me she wouldn’t give a shit either way
This happened to me.

The black lady is kind she gave a free first class to the girl respected her ❤❤
This happened to my kids who were traveling alone for the first time. My kids were so spoiled on that flight they still talk about it years later 💗
omg i can tell that was such a stressful situation especially that it involved your children i’m glad they were nice and treated your kids well

I work in service industry
If a customer is being nice especially when having a bad, i really just feel like doing something for them.
Thank you
I always make it a point to be extra nice and friendly to anyone I encounter that deals with the public in general. I can't recall the number of times I've gotten free drinks, little extra perks, and even a champagne bottle on my birthday. I appreciate everything y'all do and put up with. ❤️❤️❤️

Yup… been in customer service my whole life… most people have no clue how to be nice, probably because they are just unhappy people…
That nice lady by the desk deserves a raise for being an angel
She should have handed her a job application and said "work at the airport, if people are mean, we can call the cops!"
She is actually goated but its sad to see this won't happen in real life.

You do this in real life, you probably get in trouble, maybe even fired.
It's not like you can do it for free. Would you give away your flight ticket to anybody?
bs I might get arrested for it but I'd do that for em...right thing ain't always legal
It can be done for a fee and it's not anywhere near the original first class price.
It happens. 😊

I’m pleased to hear it. You will be able to remember their respect forever, and now, so will I.

You're a nurse, taking care of others. Those others could possibly be relatives, friends of the ones that helped you out, or could have even been some that you cared for.

At least that’s what I’ve been told before
I love that airline employee. Way to go, girl. She rocks.

@@esi8220i always wonder if people who comment stuff like this comprehend that 😂

The gist of this story is that she works for an art gallery owner, gets invited to the trip, and gets upgraded to first class, as seen in the video. She then meets this guy in first class and starts lying more and more about who she is, and pretends to have her boss's job when talking to the guy.
