Heartstrings seeing loading Maddie in the RV ❤️❤️ RIP Good Girl.
I love your channel and you’re advice. I lost my husband 5 years ago to cancer. Since then I have tried to experience life differently. I learned we are not guaranteed anything. Saying that, for the last 3 years I have wanted to hit the road. Now, I know I want an Airstream Basecamp 20x. I’m putting things in order to be able to move forward with this journey. I’ve never pulled ANYTHING, I’ve never dealt with an RV, I’ve really never camped, but in my heart I know this is what I want and that I can do this. My husband told me before he died “ you are strong and you can do anything and don’t forget it when I’m gone”. I will be a solo female with the occasional son and girlfriend hoping on board. Thank you for giving me the push that I can do this! I know I will make mistakes but I will learn.
We are camping next to a solo female, 50+ something year young woman right now. You CAN do it. You WILL learn. The camping community is VERY helpful. If you need help with anything men and women WILL and WANT to help, all you need to do is ask. You probably won’t even need to ask most times if I see someone struggling, I will offer help. God bless, enjoy your journey.
You will do it Wendy, I’m 51 & planning to do the same, check out “RV Chick 🐣 “ on Facebook & “ Cheap RV Living “ on CZcams for Great Ideas/ Tours/ Tips & Inspiration, See you on the Road, I plan on converting a shuttle bus ✌️ Marta
Congrats on your decision to hit the road and believing in yourself! I lost my husband 18 months ago and prior to his death we had a dream to get an RV and tour the country in the summers with our teenage daughter before she leaves the nest. As Trish says "we only get 18 years with our kids" which is what propelled the dream that my husband and I had for our little family. With the desire to fulfill the dream and countless hours of watching KYD videos, I purchased a 25 foot class C motorhome and my 15 year old daughter and I hit the road last summer. We traveled to 15 states in 5 weeks and I'm currently writing this on the last night of our six week/17 state "Summer to Remember" 2021 tour. The gems that Trish and Marc provide have been invaluable . Among the biggest have been to "go slow" (especially when setting up at a campsite), "mind the dip" and the RV community are truly the kindest and most helpful people around. Enjoy the journey and feel good about making your dream come true. Best wishes!
Sorry to hear about your husband. Safe travels.
You can do it!!!! My co workers friend lost her hubby and she drove a rv across Canada and down to Arizona without blinking a eye enjoy the ride !
Trish is such an inspiration to me. Absolutely radiant and Always so positive ✨ ☺
Also the fifth wheel was my favorite. So lux
Would love a real-estate video. We are in the process of balancing a home base and shifting into full time RV, after testing the waters in a camper van and loving it.
I could totally see Caleb doing a CZcams channel where he visits businesses & interviews them. (Ask them a gazillion questions.) Caleb has an engaging, charismatic personality that really works on camera. He is able to get others talking. He is able to compliment people, get them smiling, and they open up and talk to him. He could ask business owners how they help others, what works, what they've learned, etc.
A couple of shows that I love to watch Dirty Jobs & How it's Made are both formats that would work perfectly with his personality. 👍
I love watching your videos! I travel virtually with you. I live in southern Utah and have all the best at my finger tips. The rest is through your channel. Thank you!
He would be great for that - I'd totally watch and learn along with him!
I agree, Caleb is a very special guy. He has multiple gifts to offer. He’s intelligent, express, funny as hell and very engaging. (Oh boy, sounds like I may want to be Caleb's mom. Hahahhaa) he’ll be a success at whatever he tries.
kind of like Dirty Jobs but with Caleb..not so dirty jobs. We all saw how he reacted to a single drip of "tank water" on his head.
In a world of the unknown, it's nice to know that KYD is there! Tomorrow belongs to you.
"It means your ice cream's hard." lol, perfect reason for a new fridge.
I would love a Video about Realestate and RV'ing. Just saw on different RV channel Land for RV's specifically. Kind of a RV park but more of a Community/Neighborhood - a Home base or can be rented out to other R'vers.
Travelling Robert ? He just bought one acre in Florida where he can have up to 4 RVs, no need to build anything else.
@@jamesb.492 It was Rv Lifestyle they interviewed the owner of a place in TN
Thank you both for always being honest, true, and down to earth. I’ve heard both of you say, “start small, start now” for about four years now. It finally clicked on what you were saying and I took the plunge and bought my first camper. It’s a small jayco hummingbird but perfect for me. I’ve been out twice now and the rving bug has now bit me harder. I’m currently trying to figure out a way to change careers to where I can work remotely and start traveling. Thank you so much for your inspiration and your how tos. It’s made starting a lot easier.
Thank you Mark & Trish for the updated Q&A!! Love the touching base about yourselves and all your kid's career ambitions; and providing more understanding behind the purchase of your new motorized BIRD as well as the other RVs you've evolved from and owned. Your guys' statements such as 1) "Start small, start now" and 2) "Sometimes dreams don't look pretty in reality but you're learning and growing from it" are REFRESHING POINTERS!! Well done KYD Husband & Wife Team!!
Kaleb totally cracks me up. He puts a smile on my face. I can totally see him in front of a lot of people. You have raised wonderful children...now young adults. See you soon at E3
Great video! Right after our house sold and we were headed to full time, I started to get scared. We even looked at a rental to stay. My husband made the comment “ if we don’t at least try we will never know. If we hate it and it all falls apart, we will just find a new house and go back.” So glad we jumped it has been an amazing experience! Calculated risks can have amazing payoffs! 🥰
An episode on creating a home base and the different types you've seen or heard about would be great!
Yes! Great idea!
Just want to thank you and your family. We’re supposed to take ownership of our first rv in two weeks and couldn’t be more excited. We owe it to you for inspiring us to get started, and get to started now. Thank you.
Congrats! Take your time :) As we mention in this video.
@@KeepYourDaydream How do I know when you will be in the St.Louis area / Illinois,
you will be 5 minutes from my house when you drive down highway 55 aka route 66.
Do you think the third time will be a charm to meet up? Thank you. Debbie
Thank you for answering all of these questions but especially the "what if" question. We bought our first rig recently and just took our second trip. We are loving it! We have been watching you guys for a year or so now and you guys have been a big inspiration and a wonderful resource. I have to admit I have had the "what if" come to my mind when we have had to fix leaks or other repairs. It was great to know I'm not alone in those thoughts. Thankful for you guys!
My cookbook came yesterday and I love it. Beautiful book and love all the tips. I want to try everything. Leaving soon for 2 months in the New England and Canada. Can't wait to cook up some of your recipes. Thanks for the update. Safe travels.
Love KYD Q&A's and happy Sunday everyone, love yall 3000!
My wife and I have been discussing an RV for quite some time, we’re getting closer to a decision. There’s so much to consider; full/part time, keep/sell the house, motorhome/trailer, how much space do we need, what do we do with the stuff we don’t use every day, health concerns for two mid 60s persons who think they’re still in their 40s. The list is endless, but we’ll get there.
Right there in your age group. We got a small RV, she’s a Mini Winnie, 24’. I do the driving. I’ve watched CZcamss and learned a lot of how-to’s. It is doable. We are part timers. I’m heading out in a week to solo drive from SanDiego to Poulsbo, WA. My husband is still working only can do 10days of vacation. He will fly in/out. I’m not staying home and don’t seeing this beautiful country. Starting small and most likely will stay small. Just get started…..GO!
My husband and I are 60 and 58 with health issues as well. We sold the house, downsized considerably, moved to a 900 sq ft apartment (no yard or house to keep up) and maintain a 10x10 storage unit (we started with a 10 x15) and bought a used RV. For us, it was prioritizing the big issues and solving smaller ones along the way. We also realized we have to do things our way. Our trip to Acadia this summer probably didn’t include all the activities that the thirty or forty somethings did, but we got out there, had some great experiences and made some great memories! We plan to go full time in a couple years when I retire. Best to you both!
@@lynnsmith2276 We’re both retired so that’s not a major issue. We could downsize a bit, although rentals in our area are typically more than what our mortgage is. Unfortunately we can’t afford to own a home and RV, and without an “exit plan” we’re hesitant to sell the house. I’m thinking a used class C or B+ would “jumpstart” our adventures. I’d really like it if a Jeep could be towed for local exploration.
Thank you for your channel and sharing the good and the challenging of RVing. We've ventured out more confident and enjoying our first major road trip this summer.
Happy Sunday! Thank you for all the great information and awesome perspective! Truly appreciate it. Just bought a jayco 28bhs. Looking forward to building a lot of family memories! Safe travels!
I love that you both are always changing and always growing. You roll with the punches and when an opportunity presents itself you do research and go for it. I truly find your character and attitude inspirational. It gets me so excited for my next venture and what lies around the corner waiting.
“Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm” Winston Churchill
Found you guys in the last few months. Binge watched the seasons. Hope to start camping out of my SUV this fall on a trip back to LA. Wouldn't have even thought about it if not for you guys. Thanks. Love the early seasons best. Hope you get back to going and showing. That is my favorite. Keep up the good work. Always fun to watch.
lol, thanks so much for being straightforward about the Hensley! I know I have been asking you all about it for a few weeks now. Much appreciated!
Love the idea of potentially using my home as a VRBO during peak season since we live in a Beach community while we travel.
Love the part about the focus changing from places to people❤️ Thanks for your positivity and encouragement.
As always great video. Time and time again I get the impression you guys a great communicators. Between yourselves and with the public. Keep up doing the great work.
thank yall for the encouragement...I think our start small is going to be a camper over cab on the truck 😁
Wish there was a ❤️ option instead of just a 👍🏼 !! Thank you so much for answering our airstream question! So good to know you are keeping it! The chemistry of your family unit is amazing!!! Thanks for always providing the motivation needed to keep our daydreams! 😉🤗
Thank You for the Updates, Inspiration and Positive vibes, your travels cover such a wide / diverse scope. You are our Sunday go to if you miss an episode you’ll miss a lot, but through the magic of UTUBE we can always catch up. Until next time keep the rubber on the road and your eyes on the next KYD adventure.
It's your great attitudes that kept me coming back to the channel. Love the way you guize do things!
Ordered spices for our home, & two adult children...love them! Cookbook is coming, it should be here any day... excited 😊.
Thank you again you two!!! You two are such a positive force!! Trish - got my cookbook - LOVE that there’s a pic for every recipe!!!!
It's so amazing what you both have accomplished and while raising your kids to boot! Kudos to you guys! God bless your continued journeys!
Been on this travel with you since the beginning and I Thank you !! Your advice and experiences have given me the strength to do this 🥰🥳🥳🥳
Your video's are filled with so much positive "can do" attitude. We're embarking on the RV lifestyle (not full time) soon and we can't wait to begin. Thanks for your positive vibes and helpful suggestions!
Yes yes yes - please do a video on the RVing and real estate. I think they way ya'll have it structured is genius and I'd absolutely love to hear more!
I have followed you for a few years but when you bought the Wanderlodge… you became my hero’s. Keep it up daydreamers.
I love watching you all travel! You have such a great attitude about everything. Even when times are not great, and we know that happens. You always come out Smiling ! You inspire me to be the best I can be. My husband and I are just starting to travel. More weekend warriors than anything. I received my cookbook today. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to try the spice Blend. I would love to see you make something that is all salt free. Have a great rest of your summer. We will be watching you. Lol
Love the way you live in the moment and you focus on people and experiences! Hope to see you down the road. Safe travels!
This was such a fun uplifting & MOTIVATING video! 😃
(really I think they all are 🤗)
This was my maiden voyage into RV'ing, thank you.
Absolutely loved this! So much of achieving our dreams is trying,
learning from our mistakes, and continually moving forward.
Great Q&A! Love hearing your thoughts on everything and about the kids and future plans. And....I got my cookbook today! 🤗 I've read through about 1/2 already and love it! So many easily doable recipes! That says SUCCESS when you your readers find more recipes in your book to actually make than to skip. I'll plan our upcoming 47 day trip with your recipes and to do KYD55 again. Thanks for making it easy!
Happy Sunday KYD family
I'd love to see more about real estate and RVing. I envision keeping our house in Utah and renting it out while we're on the road. But is it too much of a hassle?
Ginger 1 is my favorite too because that's when I found you attractive folks. But the wanderlodge has been my dream rig for years and an airstream checks a lot of boxes for me too.
Anyways, keep up the good work and thanks for the kiddo update!
I would like to see this episode too
I would like to see this episode as well. What and where to look for a wise investment property that’s not a traditional long term rental property; remote vacation destinations vs. theme park / tourist destinations vs. popular metropolitan areas vs. across the street from the local hospital because grandma fell again... How to find and choose a property manager, How to vet rental guest.
Great video and love watching every minute of it. Thanks so much for the time and effort that you two put into making this video so that so many people can watch and learn. God bless both of you!
Excited to see your cooking on YT. Your videos always make me happy, they are well done. Watching your children growing up makes me think great job Mom and Dad. Love the Bird!❤❤
I'd like to know more about the cabin and real estate and having a home base. Also do you have a management agent booking the cabin?
I’ve been with y’all since about 3 days after your very first upload. I’m still here and loving your videos as much as ever.
Thank you!
My goodness I love you guys and your channel. Congrats Trish on the cook book. So glad you have not sold the Airstream and looking forward to seeing the remodeled unit. Please do, a vid on your cabin.
Loved what you said about it being more about people and not so much the places. We just completed a two month car trip from AZ to DC, to OH, TX, and then CO. Lots of stops in between with lots of the people we love. An RV would have have been nice, but we had a blast!
Would LOVE a video on real estate and RVing.
Of all your rvs, I can honestly say that “The Bird” and the Airstream are my favorites and I sincerely hope you keep them and enjoy them. Both seem to have a depth of quality that is sorely lacking in so many new ones. If I were your age I would happily try either one, but at 76 I have determined I am more comfortable in a Travato KL. It allows me to use it as a daily driver, a weekender, or a cross country traveler without too much stress.
Ours too. Two rigs, neither have slides and they are both our fav. Classic look. We never get tired of seeing them.
Thanks for sharing your experiences through the Q & A session...the topic you mentioned on real estate and RV'g would be very helpful. Thanks for allowing us to be part of your journey.
Thanks so much for sharing. Love all the things you do to build and support the community.
I've always believed that luck is where preparation and opportunity intersect.
Great episode. Looking forward to seeing a turbo in your future.
So when is truck...pop-up & hybrid camper season? Trish WILL LOVE IT.
We love our momentum and you helped push us in that direction for our big family! Thanks for all you do!
I always think about you guys saying start small and start now. We are doing that with our little RV as much as possible.
You are such a dynamic couple built for this work and we all thank you for the commitment.
It would be better to replace the 3208 cat and transmission with a combination from a late model wrecked bluebird bus. Even though your bus is analog and has a solid Powertrain, the later Cummins 6.7l is lighter and more powerful. The 2000 series Allison has a manual shifter or if you had a 3000 series Allison where the shifter is an electric push button, it can easily be configured to your bus.
I would not invest money in installing a turbo on the 3208 NA cat. The gain would not be that significant vs cost. The mechanical fuel pump would have to be upgraded along exhaust manifolds, injectors, not to mention cooling system and then the vector aka stall of the torque converter since the torque curve of the engine will change. I work in trucks and busses for a living. Just my input.
The engine will not last putting a turbo on it when the engine is at 100% load. Not sure if even replacing the engine would be good cause it will cost around 40k to do it. Plus you will now have emissions to deal with.. my best advice is to enjoy what you have.
IT ALREADY HAS A TURBO!
Exactly- find a used motor/transmission combo. Or just sell and buy a coach with turbo Cummins.
Exactly, it is just below the engine controller in the picture of the engine. Maybe a stuck waste gate.
Another great video from a great couple who are also a great team. Love you guys - and your kids - so much. As an Air Force veteran whose USAF time formed the foundation for my subsequent career, I hope Carson gets his wish for the USAFA (A very close friend of mine retired from the USAF in the 90s and was one of the senior enlisted superintendents at the Academy). Thank you two for all you have done, both for the RV community and all of us in general. Can't wait to meet you all in person on the road at some point, hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Cheers always from Sacramento.
Another great KYD video.
We are semi retired and just getting started in the RV world. You have been a huge source of information and inspiration. Entertaining too.
And yes I got a new F250 diesel because I didn’t want any shortcomings in my tow vehicle.
Waiting patiently for our Lance travel trailer to arrive from the factory.
And thanks for the updates on Charlie and the kids.
"Dreams don't always look pretty..." True, but the best part is that they are yours.
We love your channel. We retired last fall, spent three months in FL, went home to SC for three months and are now on a three month trip in MI and WI. You brought up the question concerning real estate and RVing. We would love to hear your experience. In addition to our travel trailer we have our home and several rental properties. We will be happy to share our experience with RVing and real estate if that's of interest to you.
I've been following you guys for about 3 years now. I'm only about 3 years from retirement and have an ever growing list on my "Want to go" list on Google Maps, most of them from watching your channel. I do RV now but hope to significantly up that RV time after retirement. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Maybe someday I will see you and I will come up and say Hello.
I love that you guys give Michigan and the Great Lakes some love on your channel. Most RV channels seem to just pass through heading to the major attractions. It is nice to see the hidden gems.
I would love to see a video on you guys explaining the amount of money you spent on your new rig in all your expenses for every RV and truck you own
My wife and I love and enjoy your videos every week. She is also hearing impaired and use CC to understand what is being said. The last couples released videos have had unavailable subtitles. Is there any way to re-enable the auto/captions function to these videos?
Love,
Evan and Nicole
I went and checked a few of their last videos on pc (Biltmore and the Nascar one). I found I had to turn CC back on for each video. Maybe try that and see if it works?
Our 1st little 18 ft bumper pull hold some super sweet memories for us. We have a 5th wheel now, our lives and needs have changed and we love the livability of the 5er but I miss the toddlers and sweet snuggle sessions in the little no slide bumper pull
Y’all are the best and by far, my favorite CZcams family! Received the cookbook a few days ago and all the spices, so very excited to try some of Trish’s amazing recipes. Cheers from Texas.
Hi Y'all ! Loving the Wanderlodge!! Look at the Bus Grease Monkey channel. I would call him a Wanderlodge expert although he generally works on Detroit Diesel but he may know where you can get that turbo installed. I believe he is in TN.
Ya his knowledge is pretty extensive.
Love his channel.
Their engine already has a turbo
Would love to see the video on real estate. We have a property in Destin and are considering getting out of town for adventures and renting out that home during high season.
Howdy Destin neighbor
@@larryh5759 , Hi Neighbor!
Awesome episode y'all. I was on the road today taking my son's gear to his college because he started band camp. I was driving my new F350 (which I bought because I have been watching your channel since the beginning - new trailer coming later this year). I overtook an old BB Wanderlodge towing a car the same color as yours and I was stoked to honk and wave when I noticed that it didn't have your graphics. I was disappointed, but I honked and waved anyway. Keep doing what you do. It is amazing!
Really good stuff Marc and Trish! Just completed our 5th trip with the “new to us” trailer ( a little smaller than Ginger). Everything worked great even though we thought we had water hook up but we didn’t...we were prepared thanks to your advice!
Caleb needs his own channel of comedy. Maybe just a few short videos giving his commentary.
Caleb wants to be an entrepreneur. All entrepreneurs solve problems. He is so funny. He could be a comedian too.
We love your channel! We’ve been watching for a couple years now and we finally pulled the trigger a couple months ago on a 263BHXL travel trailer. We just completed our 4th trip. Our goal is get out 1x a month (when weather allows) and make some memories…Looking forward to make more!
Loved seeing all the rigs you guys have been in, gives us an idea of what they might be like. You are always informative as well. People have learned so much from you guys. Right now, I am living RVing through you guys, but I hope to one day have a bit of an experience with it although at my age, it might not happen. But a gal can dream! Love watching the kiddo's grow and embark on getting ready for their careers, it's almost like they are all of our children. Love the cook book Trish, it is amazing! Love that you all are so down to earth , friendly and first class all the way. Hugs, Brenda

We are so great full for your channel. We are on our 5th season of travel and 4th year of full time RV life. You guys were one of the first channels we binged watch as we decided to transition to this life style. Your videos have always been so helpful and inspirational. Then we took your, “ How To Start CZcams Channel” course to be able to document our adventures and that course was a God send. Thank you much, Juan & Mary.
The cookbook is great! I'm enjoying sharing your recipes with friends and family. Thanks so much for taking all the time to pull it together and get it out. Shelley from San Diego
Thanks for all the great advice find it very helpful in looking for our first RV this year
I liked the fact that you didn't hide how slow the bird went uphill. We had a 1981 Winnebago Chieftan that did the same thing. We owned it from 2002-2009. Lived in it full-time for 3.5 years.
I love Sundays when you post another video. In April I went all the back to your beginning and watch all the way until now. We are still doing our research and saving for down payment. We just got our Ram 2500, so that's done. I tore my ACL though so I have to have an operation then back on track. Thank you for all your helpful information. Your family is inspiring. Love you guys
I look forward to Sunday evenings so I can spend time with your family. Safe travels.
I just want to let you know that my husband and I love watching your videos. We have found ourselves chuckling with you on many occasions. Thank you for sharing your family and experiences on the road with us. You videos are very informative, down to earth, and very personable! We aspire to one day have our own travel trailer and get to travel through our country. We have decided to start out by renting out first travel trailer.
God bless you all!!
Thank you for answering the questions we all were thinking about.
Got your cookbook and am LOVING IT. It’s easy to follow, common ingredients, and delicious recipes.
We want to thank you for inspiring us. Most of our kids are grown. Five grown boys, two married, and a 17 ur old daughter. We wished we had rv’d when they were all home. Having said that, we now schedule family vacations at a destination with the kids and grandkids. It’s so fun renting an Airbnb and exploring an area together creating memories. We have my 72 yr old mom (supreme nanny) with us and she’s loving all the née experiences. We are in between rv’s. Had a Travato 59K and loved the loved it took us. We are anxiously awaiting our EKKO delivery in January where we can take supreme nanny and our 17 yr old out on adventures.
Thank you for doing what you do. Inspiring families to live their dreams.
Great Q&A! It has been a pleasure to watch the transformations in your family and travels. My wife and I have a term we use call (Ridged Flexibility), have a plan but be flexible and most of all don't sweat the small stuff. Take a deep breath and move forward, always. Believe it or not it is healthy to get out of your comfort zone. I will be the first to admit, I like my comfort zone but new challenges always make me feel better. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Great video! I was going to ask when “we” are doing KYD 55 again…now I know and it’s on my calendar. Perfect timing. 😍
I love finding you guys and learning so much from you both. You have great kids, and your youngest is hilarious. You are so informative 👏 👌
Just received your cookbook and can't wait to try some recipes. Everything looks delicious and so many different recipes. CONGRATULATIONS TRISHA!!
Very good Q&A. Thank you Tricia and Marc. Going to buy your book and a tshirt. Hope you enjoy the week. And see you soon!
Can't wait to see your Route 66 trip. My son and I have been talking about making that trip. My dad and I used to drive that road every year before it was fully "interstated." I want to do it with my son. I don't RV but love to watch you guys. Glad the family is doing well. Thanks for RVing for us, LOL
Can't wait to meet you guys someday. Thanks for all the encouragement.
Great episode!
Lots of questions we had are now answered-thanks!
Travel has been an evolution for me and I appreciate the info you’re providing.
From tent camping off a Harley, to, fixing up a vintage airstream-still in progress. Switching gears to get out there by camping out of a pickup with a cap to explore hidden trails on a dual sport motorcycle. Then swapping the cap for a Four Wheel camper for more comfort in below zero temps and the ability to stand up and cook inside. Then selling that setup last summer to convert a 4x4 Sprinter with a home built interior and all the Battleborn/Victron goodies.
Variety can be a fun way to find what works for you!
Well done. I’m full time solo living In my awesome 2019 Cougar 22RBS by a lake, learning learning learning. Y’all are epic.
"you won't know until you go" OMG YES - so very true and in retrospect that is a valuable lesson - thank you both for being so real!
Love it! Rv Newbie 2 trips in, 2 more planned this year. With lots of family (9 ranging from 7 month to 73 years old) and loving it!
