Petra:
Jay, can you tell me about your typical day?
Jay:
My typical day really depends on whether I get a good night's sleep with my child, but presumably if I get a good night's sleep, I'll wake up at 6:00 AM, I'll get to my office for 6:15 AM, which gives me 15 minutes to prepare for my lessons, and then I'll be teaching till 12:00 PM, and then I get an hour's lunch break, and then I teach through to normally 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM, depending on how busy I am. Yes, it's a lot of teaching through the day.
Petra:
Mm-hmm. Is every day the same or is it different?
Jay:
It's really varied working on the internet. I think some days are less quiet compared to others, but now I teach on three different websites. I tend to fill out the time more, so it's more consistent. So yes, more or less, it's the same every day now.
Petra:
Do you still enjoy it?
Jay:
I have my days, but yes, in the majority, I do really enjoy my work. And I love it because I get to speak to so many different people like yourself, and you can build your world view on things.
Petra:
That's right, yeah. I also love it. What do you do at weekends?
Jay:
On the weekends, because as I mentioned earlier, my girlfriend works, normally I'm with my son Saturday and Sunday. So we'll go walking around. I might go to my parents' house, and spend some time there, have a meal so they can see my son, and we just generally relax and have a good time.
