I returned my Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung forgot who its customers are and lost its identity. All they doing now is copying apple and lacking innovation. Bought a OnePlus 12 and not looking back. I appreciate the IR remote with built-in app, true extreme fast charging both with warp wireless and wired and the like galaxy performance. This is my phone for the next 3 years I til galaxy actually returns and Samsung gets their head out of their azzez 😂
The IR blaster is honestly a hidden gem that I wish we still had across more devices, it's something you don't realize is such a great feature until you no longer have it readily available.
The fast charging is simply unmatched. In North America it's really the only available device we have that has it. Other manufacturers globally spoil their users with fast charging. I wish Google, Apple, and Samsung adopted this in the US for example. I feel like Samsung plays it safe though with battery/charging since the Note 7 days... Overall OnePlus really crushed it with the 12 and it's really hard to beat.
If you are going to buy the phone outright IDK why you would get anything else. This phone is an absolute steal at $699
Wow $699? You're lucky, in Germany we have to pay €949 for the small version.....
Same in Poland 🥹
I just got this OnePlus 12 a week back, Overall the performance is on another level but still not satisfied with the camera(tele-lens looks better)
My previous OnePlus was a OnePlus 6
@shahal_twenty3 yep, camera is ok and software is terrible
@@shahal_twenty3 bro camera is good.... I think you were expecting too much.... Imagine if you would have purchased 24 Ultra or 15 pro max.... You would have regretted.... If you compare the cameras with it's competitors ( Iqoo 12, S24, iPhone 15, Vivo x100 etc...) then you wouldn't see a huge difference... All of them are good and pretty close to each other.
so this year oneplus has done a good job. what many people need is there and it works very well, even better. It's a shame that in Europe the prices are much higher and the convenience is not so evident
I really like my OnePlus 12. For the price you can't lose. I'm thoroughly impressed. I returned the S24 Ultra for it and am glad I did.
Which colour is better.. green or black?
@@anandraj.p0406 I wanted the Green one, (checked it in a Croma Store, came to buy few days later, but it was sold out)....Got the black one instead, and say you what, it does look quite classy, what with the back cover they provide, it makes the whole design sleek to hold
What's the reason you returned your s24u? i wanna know coz im torn between these two.
Actually I'm too rejected S24ultra and choosed this OP12.
@@ahamedimam7691 why?
I got one from China, it's white and has 1TB 24gb ram, you can't find it in the west but you can get it with the global ROM installed and it comes at the same price you'd get the 16gb 512gb in the west. It's a definite steal!
Question:
The phone that you described that you got from China, does that version work with Cellphone Networks in the US & North America?
It works with most networks but different networks use different bands and as Chitel and Chinese networks generally use different bands to North America, it may mean more moments of "no signal", especially outside of large cities and downtown areas of smaller towns. Most European networks use band 20 (4G) and band 20 is commonly absent on Chinese versions of phones, just to give an example.
@@johndooley5928 And if you are in the US, the band 2/12/71 (and a few others) are going to be missing.
24GB RAM 😂 wow absolute bonkers
@@johndooley5928 I don't know about us, I'm in the UK, you'd have to ask around, hopefully it works ❤️
One of the best things about OP 12 Oxygen OS is that it is ad and bloatware free where other vendors such as Vivo or realme provide ads and recommendations in their software.
Really? Even their flagships phone like Vivo X100 Pro still has ads built in? I mean i kinda understand if it’s realme considering the price but vivo…
@@dimaseboy8603 Yes they have those ads built in such as hot apps and hot games you will have to debloat funtouch OS to get a good experience.
Got the update and now have master camera mode. Guys this phone kills the 24 ultra. I sent mine back. The battery is awesome. The camera once you get the modes down. Man sweet shooter. This phobe all around just does it. No regrets. My sound is loud there sound modes.
Running this on cricket no issues. And 80 watt charging. I could care less about the Ai.
AI for OnePlus already launched in China. US and EU will follow shortly.
@@InfectAionyippie!
Great to have an IR blaster when you're in a hotel or an Airbnb so that you can access different inputs and so forth on the TV. It is a big help for those of us that travel. So you can bring your Amazon fire stick and watch whatever you want as opposed to having to pay for a hotel movies
We hear you loud & clear Flossy Carter.....
Only if the TV installation has the HDMI ports enabled. Many TVs are in Hotel mode with disabled ports. Premier Inns in the UK being a prime example.
Have not had an IR blaster since my note 3. Back in the day when Samsung used to include everything but the kitchen sink if you got a note device AKA Ultra lol
Dont forget 2160Hz pwm of oneplus 12. For me (my head, my eyes) antoher big reason for this phone
Switching to my 6 years old phone OnePlus 6t to OnePlus 12 i very like it.
What an upgrade!!
IR Blaster is a seriously underrated feature. It's really handy though.
I agree with the phone of the year comments. Nothing can touch it. The display is the best and more reviewers should say it. Thank you.
Honor magic 6 pro is better
mate loving the video and loving my op12! where did you get that case ? Its awesome!
Thanks a ton!!! It was china only release for oneplus 12 but I was able to order and import from giztop.
thank you !@@drewlipps
I just ordered that wood case, and I'm psyched about it. Loving this phone so far, also have a pixel 8 pro that I toggle between. Very happy that I went with this over the S24 Ultra
where did you order the case from?
@@laytich28 Ali Express
What would you recommend for just one phone? I dont know if i choose the pixel or this one.
@@lopesdev tough call, I'd probably go with the one plus. I do love the pixel but the OnePlus processor, and battery probably edge out the pixel. The camera on the OnePlus is no slouch either there just isn't much AI which I'm fine with and that could change with an update who knows
@@samanthamarasca8864 thanks mate, yeah i always had oneplus ajd i love them, i only prefer the design of the pixel, but as per the reviews, the battery life sucks. Thanks a lot for your honest opinion
Nice review. Love one plus again.
Is that og walnut case? How does it look? Better than sandstone case?
I prefer it honestly. It’s a fake wood case but looks great in person. It was only available in China with the initial launch of the OP 12, I had to import from giztop to get it in the US.
Great review man! I'm still rocking the still blazing fast 1+ 11
Thanks much appreciated!!! The 11 is equally still really solid and the 12 is an iteration of the 11 overall. (I lost count at how many times I accidentally kept calling this the 11 lol when filming.)
no worries hahah. well, u just 1 + to your sub count!@@drewlipps

Hi nice review.
Iam too enjoying the op 12
Yes. So far, for sure. Waiting to see what ZFold/Flip 6 brings as well. But OP12 is nothing short of amazing. Yes..Absolutely get a case for the Black version. Slickest phone I've ever held. In operation & in hand feel. Poetic and Ringke make a great case for it.
Folding phones are nothing but a scam.

In the same boat, but I have to upgrade so I'm considering the 12 until the Fold 6 and Oneplus Open 2 are revealed.
Great review! Out of curiosity, can you link to the wallpaper you are using?

I'm so happy I learnt your thought about this smartphone. Indeed OnePlus have evolved quite a bit and now they are direct competitors with Apple and Samsung. Great job on the review, Drew! ;)
Thank you, much appreciated!!!
How is the curve screen compared to the pixel 7pro, is it slightly curved like the P7P?
The oneplus 11 is more curved than the pixel 7 pro’s slight curved display.
I traded in my galaxy fold 5 for this Oneplus 12 phone. I'm tired of the Samsung lag.
I feel this.
I personally think one plus did an excellent job in both hardware and software....i and for the AI feature how often do one use those features...there is always chat gpt one touch away which i personally use and think is the most useful one... i have used pixel for the past 2 years and could say those AI features like magic editors are most less used feature.
Does it have the feature / option to hide the camera / center hole punch like on Samsung phones?
What?
What ? You cannot hide it.
You mean like the setting where the status bar is extended a bit to help blend a black background with the camera? I haven't been able to locate a setting like that yet, I just got my OP12 though and I'm new to OP. My LG phones all had it including the V60. It like overlays an image in the status bar that makes the camera look invisible but not actually. I think that's what you're talking about.
Where is that case from? It looks great. I just purchased the phone but I’m having problems activating with Verizon
From OnePlus, but it's not avail in the US so I had to import from Giztop.
Btw what case is that? Looks dope
Official OnePlus case, but it wasn't released in the US. I had to import the case from GizTop.
I'm trading in my 11 a lil worried about changing of button placement..it's due to get here soon. Just got buds 3 as well those are good.
Traded my 11 for mines and I love it the camera is a lot better and battery is a bit better wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are great additions as well. The button placement takes a little getting used to but I have no complaints. Front camera is noticeably better
@@Sedp23 cool cool 😎 one main reasons I'm trading better cameras..
What was the battery health on your 11?

I can't crown them yet but this phone is good, I am gonna get it but I'm waiting on Motorola to drop this year who were incredibly slept on last year with their flagship edge plus 2023... Great video by the way

Love this device only complaint is media player on Lock Screen and notification tray is trash. Compared to pixel and now one ui 6.1 it just look very outdated something from 2015 i think they can do better then this . Other then that the phone is amazing no other issues at all.
I can see that for sure, overall though pretty solid indeed.
can i use oneplus walnut case for wireless charging?
Works for me no issue so far. Charge using my wireless charger next to my bed, Tesla wireless charger in car, and then I use the fast charger on my desk in office.
This is the BEST phone I've ever had - I love mine !!!
How about vivo x100 pro? They're the same price from where I am from? What do you guys think? Thank you.
Not available in the US unfortunately so I can't speak to that one specifically. It does look to be a great device, wish we got more options like this here.

Awesome, thanks.@@drewlipps
Best case i have ever seen!
The battery lasts 2 days and is charged in full in 23 minutes. Excellent camera and amazing screen.
So good 🔥
Man.. That case is so sexy it reminds me of bamboo backcover on OnePlus one I used to have.
I miss the bamboo backs, same with Moto back in the day.
Got mine for $528 for the 512gig vairiant. Best choice ever
Traded my s22 ultra for the black 16gb ram and 512 for $449 can't go wrong with that 🙌
Solid deal!!
Yet cameras may be meh 😕, just wondering; are they DL
where did u get the case? oneplus?
OnePlus doesn't offer this one in the US, GizTop can import though.
I was rocking the S23 Ultra but wanted to try the OnePlus 12. I used it for about 2 weeks and then switched back to the s23 Ultra. I switched for 2 days and went back to OnePlus. This phone is just faster than the Ultra. Photos are good but not enough to compare. Oxygen OS just has few duplicate apps where Samsung has a whole suite. Battery life is better but the kicker for me is I charge my phone and take a shower or comeback in 20 minutes and it's fully charged. 26 mine from 0 to 100%. All phones should offer that feature.
Right!? The fast charging is just insane. It's a feature I'd love to see so many other companies adopt.
I know this sounds silly, but does CZcams run well on it? I literally had to return a Oneplus 10T because everything ran smooth except for CZcams. It's like even though the phone was programmed for 120 Hz, it felt like it was running at 60 Hz and was very choppy.
yeah it works great with YT. The speakers as I noted I wish were a little louder but overall it's great,
@@drewlipps not sure why you keep mentioning the speakers... In all the tests I've seen the speakers are louder than the galaxy s23 s4 ultras!
I compared my s23 ultra to my new OnePlus 12 and it did sound louder even though the s23 had a very slight audio quality edge
@@mike786551 maybe I got a bad unit then because my s24u, iPhone 15 pro max, etc all have better speakers
@@drewlipps oh wow that sucks.. watch some other YT reviews if you can.. but from what I recall after watching so many they said it's good
Shame it's massively marked up here in Europe. I like the 12R as well, but it took is massive.
Yeah pricing globally is all over the place unfortunately.
All of you influencers need to stop giving s*** to the curved display. If you put it inside a case I love my current display phones. If every phone was the same we wouldn't need more than one brand and it would be like apple and I hate apple.
I like the flat display on the S24U this year, the pixel 8 pro is flat now too but sharper edges. The OnePlus curve isn't too bad, it just feels dated to me personally and not a fan of it overall.
For the price it’s affordable. Love the review.

@@konpsymusic It's a subtle curve, doesn't get in the way like the more rounded curved displays of the past. It's one that I don't mind honestly and I really don't like curved displays usually.

In fact, there is an update that was recently released in China for the OnePlus 12 that offers a number of AI features. Once more, that update will be making its way to the global market very soon. Frankly, I assumed something like that was going to happen. The Snapdragon 8 generation 3 SOC has full AI capability. An update with AI features seemed logical if not inevitable.
The display is actually why I chose to upgrade from the 11. While I love my 11 and still have it, 4500 nits of brightness was difficult for me to pass up. As a legally blind low vision user, I'll take any and every advantage I can get. In addition, I am happy that OnePlus chose to stick with the curved glass design. Truthfully, I absolutely hate the flat screen slab Flintstone phones. They are very awkward to hold and they do not look anywhere near as premium. Personally, I'll take the ergonomic design of the 12 any day.
By the way, an absolutely great case that offers a lot of protection without bulking up the phone is the Tudia Merge Grip. It looks great, offers a lot of protection and the grip surface reminds me a lot of the sandstone bumper cases that OnePlus offers. There was a time that I thought their cases were kind of boring. However, since they redesigned their lineup they are absolutely top-notch.
The OnePlus 12 for sure has an incredible display. Even over the OnePlus 11, I'd highly recommend most to checkout the 12. In North America unfortunately OnePlus has really stopped prioritizing our market. Many of their cases aren't available here, I got the sandstone BUT I had to import the wood case from GizTop. Cases on Amazon for me personally at least are kind of hit or miss. (Though I usually go cases on my phones, this phone's just too slippery to do this lol.) Update wise we are still waiting in the US for the update. Still on November unfortunately. Support wise it's not a great experience at least from what I've seen over the last 2-3 years especially. Even with the OnePlus Open if you send it in to get repaired, it's not a quick turnaround and I found they provide very little insight into status. Just not as good of an experience as it use to be for this market specifically.
@@drewlipps indeed, my experience has been a little different. I usually call the 800 number and eventually I get somebody that knows what they're doing. The problem is that they outsource it to foreign markets.
It's not that one plus doesn't prioritize the United States and North america. Frankly, our government has had to start enforcing many tariffs on the Chinese government in regards to their products. The Chinese Communist party deliberately devalues their currency and disrupts the market. To that end, they usually only send us cases that they know they can sell. Why send us products that we are unfamiliar with and nobody will buy?
Thanks for the case recommendation! I was wanting to wait for some more cases to be made so I had more options but do you think I should just go for the Tudia?
@@ShardstapoRotmg cases are all about preference. I think it's a really good case but, what's right for you may not be right for me. I would look at it and check it out. It's a very good case.

Yeh, it's great, but I watched another video about OP12 saying that in bright daylight it's difficult to see what is going on on the screen.
I still have a OnePlus 7 Pro, an excellent phone, but it seems that OP12 still has the same problem when watching the screen outside. So I'll skip the upgrade.
Strange, it’s one of the brightest displays next to the S24 Ultra. I’ve had zero issues with it in direct sunlight. However the oneplus 7 pro is an excellent phone also. Does oneplus still update and support the 7 pro though ?
@@drewlipps No updates any more for 7pro. The last one was maybe a year ago. But still a blazing fast phone in every respect. Amazing screen. Very tempted by OP12. But will hold out as much as I can as 7Pro is really that good.
Oneplus is easily be the best value for money flagship phone of the year
Yup $699 just got it yesterday. OMG I'm loving it. Zero chance for me to return this phone. Funny thing is I enjoy The hectic engine when you typing.

Can really happen to any device and any display honestly. I've had every generation OnePlus and have yet to have hardware issues with a OnePlus device specifically, including the Open which some said they had display issues. OnePlus also has pretty decent support to resolve those type of issues but depending on where you're located it may take longer to resolve.

Where did you get that case!? Very cool! While it is a great phone One+ in my opinion made 3 major misguided "improvements" 1. The curved screen is lame and dated. Makes the phone impossible to hold without the bumper case (which should be included with the phone). 2. moving the volume button to the right side. WHY? now hit power button when trying to volume down or volume down when trying to hit power. STUPID! and 3. UNLESS I AM MISSING SOMETHING - WHAT IN THE HELL DID THEY TAKE AWAY NOTIFICATION LIGHTS WHEN THE SCREEN IS OFF FOR? THIS IS A KEY FEATURE FOR ANY DAMN PHOINE. THIS SIMPLE LITTLE FEATURE IS SUPER IMPORTANT! i MEAN WHAT THE HELL? SO IF I LEAVE MY DESK AND COME BACK - I NOW HAVE TO PICK UP MY PHONE TURN IT ON AND CHECK TO SEE IF I MAY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING NO LITTLE BLINKING LIGHT? THIS WAS ALMOST A DEAL BREAKER FOR ME - TOTALLY F'ED UP ON THIS ONE+.... Now you may think that I am a very shallow user in terms of proficiency, however I have spent years customizing every phone I have owned. This 12 is my latest upgrade to my rooted One + 6, which was a great phone. Aside from the curved screen which is simply a matter of taste, moving the volume button and no blinking notification light was a mistake.
Thanks!!
Giztop, had to import the case since not available in the US. Curve screen is dated for sure. However, I don't know if any phone (aside from Nothing) has a notification indicator/light anymore. I miss having that for sure, but haven't had a device with that in years aside from Glyphs on Nothing phones. Could use always on/at a glance to see notifications as needed though. Battery is insane so won't drain battery using that.
This or the pixel 8 pro?

Curved display are not outdated because apple or samsung are not used them.. that cannot be taken as an argument , because oppo - (oneplus, realme) ,vivo, xiaomi - (redmi),motorola, honor and huawei still using them also for the flaships 😉
In the US market, it's an outdated design. Globally that may differ but here in the US, every major US mobile phone brand has dropped their curved displays. I can only speak to devices and the device market I'm in.
@@drewlipps that doesn't make it outdated man, it's just a different trend. And the US is just small market share for oneplus. It's just trend
I still like my curved edge on my OnePlus 12! No one wants to carry around a square block in there pocket.
It's subtle at least. Personally though I'd prefer a newer/different form factor after years of carrying the same curved displays. They could go rounded edges without the curve or something too.

My wife returned the 1+12 2 hours after using it. She HATED it to be an understatement. We got her an s24 and she couldnt be happer.
Understand that for sure. My wife left iPhone recently and went from S23U to S24U (excellent trade in deal) and she couldn't be happier but she wasn't a fan of the OnePlus 12, nor the Pixel.
Why is that if I may ask
@@HV55VN she personally just preferred the software, support, trade in options, etc of Samsung
@drewlipps OK thank you I'm currently on an s24 ultra 512gb I paid £574 if cashback tracks would be an insane deal
I DON'T WANT THEM TO EVER GO FLAT SCREEN.
To each their own for sure. It's not terrible but personally not preferred.
I actually dont want super super fast charging . I rather keep battery longevity. No thanks im fine with 45 on my S24 ultra.
OnePlus actually built their fast charging with longevity in mind. However, I swap devices weekly so never impacts my usage 🤣
Remember, people. NO ONE complained about the S23 Ultra having CURVED SCREENS. And it was UNANIMOUS PHONE OF THE YEAR.
Samsung redeemed the design to me personally with the new S24U. Still not a fan of curved displays just overall, never have been. However it still works on the OnePlus 12 and for the money it's unbeatable even if I personally don't like curved displays.
I was at Best Buy and finally had the opportunity to see this phone in person, sadly I found it to be too big and bulky. That's the only con I see besides the curved display. Didn't like the design as much as I thought I would. It's a powerful phone, yes, just not for me.
I can totally see that. It's a tall phone, thicker than the previous gen slightly, and heavier than the previous gen. 7.23 oz (205.0 g) for the OnePlus 11, VS the OnePlus 12 being 7.76 oz 220 g. What phone are you using now by chance?
Consider the OnePlus 12R?
@@drewlipps still using a Oneplus 6T, which is 6.4in. Sadly, no company is selling phones that size. At least not in the US market.
@@Aaronduhmoron They had the 12R next to the OP 12, they are very similar in size. The S24 is 6.2, great size but I don't like OneUI. Pixel 8 is also 6.2, but the battery is not good.
@@LuisAlbertoForever hmm if you're looking at flagships, maybe something like the Sony Xperia I V? It's 6.5in but it's a narrow 21:9 aspect ratio. Super light too, I owned one briefly before selling it. I actually wanted a bigger screen lol but it's a excellent phone, all top tier specs plus headphone jack and SD slot 😎
Problem is that bigger CZcamsrs are payed for by Samsung and Iphone and that is clear when they always goes for them no matter how good the competition is
Not paid actually, would be illegal for them to be paid by these brands. Samsung does cover specific expenses when sending larger creators to events, but I know many that actually reject this. Apple doesn't pay for anything lol they only collect money 💰

I understand that the phone is quite thick, which I don't think I like
It's really not that thick surprisingly. It's thinner pretty sure than the S24U.
No, it actually feels thin thanks to the curved sides 👍. I was worried about the weight 220 grams but that was luckily no issue either, its weight distribution is well done.
No! How could a phone with a silly curved display be the best phone of the year?!
Overall value compared to literally anything else ,even regardless of the dated curved display as noted in the video, makes it so far phone of the year.
I dont know why but it looks cheap
