Both parents stood by their son. It wasn’t some hard choice she’s struggled with, they left, lost everything. Those who are religious, believe in a higher power, not any single person. Not all Catholics left the church and at least in this case, they dealt with much faster than hundreds of years of known abuse in the church. She decided that she wasn’t going to let them take away her community and good for her.
Manny, it has always been their shame not yours. I had four family members abuse me so I ran away at age 12 and entered hell where I was trafficked. I grew twisted and hated humans. So you have survived well. Stay strong and keep your loved ones close.

It seems that so many people in power, in so many cases religious Organisations, take advantage over these poor children. It makes me so happy to see that in these cases the victims had the total love and support of their families.

I love how supportive Manny's parents have been of him since day one, it really says a lot about them. Too often we see families torn apart over situations like this, where a loved one unveils a horrible truth yet the family sides with their religious sect, unwilling to be shunned or labeled an outcast and consequently refuse to keep loyal to their own family member. So glad he has his family behind him.
I really admire their courage and ability to face their offenders while remaining calm, articulate, and classy. Best of luck moving forward to all the victims and their loved ones. 🙏

The fact that these rabbis think it's below them to be held accountable in a court of law, and by a woman, is evidence enough that this extremist cult thinks it's above secular law and should be disbanded. They don't think it is below them to be held accountable, but they do believe they have no right to look at any woman who is not related to them or married to them. My father too, always looks next to the woman, while he is talking to her, not at her face, etc which can be interpreted as being disrespectful if you don't look at a person while they are questioning you at the court. They respect women very much, so they don't ask them to use long pants and cover their chests but rather our men don't look at them only if they are sisters/mothers/wives. This is a way they can avoid any temptation and being respectful towards their wife, our women do not accept their men turning their heads after other women and drooling all over them. Also, you forgot that this happened to 1 community, not in every community and Israel distances itself from these pedos. As you could see in the US too, they were hailed as heroes.. I am from Belgium, we have in Antwerpen the biggest Jewish community in the EU and i never heard any things like this. If any of my children would have been abused, trust me i would not ring the pedo's door and waited outside patiently.

If some people choose to believe they are accountable only to religious hierarchy, eventually they are schooled by the legitimate authority. If they choose to belong to a social or religious group that dominates them, they are free to live as they like, but still accountable to the state for their bad actions.
Obviously these arrogant rabbis are beneath contempt, but the state does not have the right to give citizens limits on beliefs - only behavior. The inside of your head belongs to you and (as we say in the US) your rights end at the tip of my nose. I've seen another documentary about this case when Mannys abuse first became known to his parents. Manny is determined, and a very eloquent speaker, his father has a fire in his belly! It’s covered up all over the world. Paedophiles always get light sentences. Perhaps all men have thought of abusing children even though they haven’t done so. Therefore, they seem to go light on those that do, and women are scared. Children should be warned early in life of this danger and what to do to keep safe
I don't think every man feels that way. Even when I was a teenager, and my hormones started kicking in, I was more turned on by women with more developed bodies. I can't speak for every man but I have never had that issue of thinking about abusing any kids.
It would be really interesting to get to the bottom of this. It's hard to rationalise or even see the benefit of it. Is it shame to express themselves sexually so they feel they can do it with a kid because they assume the kid won't resist them? Are they just attracted to children or they are sexually repressed? It would be interesting to get to the bottom of this phenomenon because it shouldn't even exist at all.
Btw, a lot of men have also been abused by older women in their younger years, so is that also due to them being repressed and targeting a child to express their sexuality? If we can figure this out then we can teach a more healthy mindset vis a vis sexuality that would eliminate this stuff. That's may be sounding too optimistic but I still want to believe in humanity.

I am a Christian. I belong to a church. I never understood why they let just anyone watch children in the nursery. It was always women at my church. Women can be sexual predators too. Our church at the moment is having a huge turn over at moment, so our nursery is closed. Society treats our ministers, Bishops, Priests, & other church leaders like Gods. They are not. And if you don’t believe they have power, go against their doctrine or accuse one of sexual abuse then watch the whole Church coalesce around them. You will be black listed. They protect their own. Society protects them. Our children deserve better than this.

It was such a sickening revelation. Men mostly, sexual abuse everybody. No one is safe. Children being abused by “so called” religious men are as high as the non religious men.
