and can I just say that it was so much harder than I thought to stand there for 18 minutes with my arm in the air recording this song.
I was fortunate enough to be front stage that particular evening. thank you Adam, Justin, Dan, and especially Maynard for playing Wings and 10,000 days in my home town. This piece of music holds a place in my heart.

yes, the whole album is dedicated to her, the song describes his disgust with her funeral precedings, how he felt somewhat inadequate as her son, and basically a last bon voyage to his mother in her journey to the next life
It's a shame. When I saw them live in '06 and they did Wings for Marie/10,000, the light spectacle was absolutely breathtaking. One of the greatest things I've witnessed in my life.
Saw them in Atlanta a week ago, and sound and visually, it was the best show I've seen in 30 plus years of concerts.
I can listen to this verse all day. Such a powerful vocal performance. It seems as if he's beginning to lose his voice, however.

even when they play this one live it really sounds good. this song is really powerfull. The cills run down my spine listening to this, it really is something different, not only by Tool, but also in the metalscene
It was for his mother, whose middle name was Marie. She had a stroke and was paralyzed for 27 years before she passed away, 27 years after. 27 years multiplied by 365 days is 9,855, about 10,000 days. That's it in a nutshell.
The solo is very simple yet powerful. And the drumming during the solo is really awesome.
Wings for Marie, and 10,000 days were both written by Maynard for his mother, who suffered a paralyzing stroke when he was 11.
I heard this song and wings part 1 are about Maynard's mother going to heaven. =O Amazing song in evey way, I can fall asleep to this wherever I am. Tool is the best band of all time.

One of the best pieces of art ever created. The synchronised version you get from the songs on the album is amazing- it's like part 3. I think Viginti Tres means Synchronisation in some language. There is a good reason they put Viginti Tres on the album, the reason is 10:13
This makes me want to cry, haha. I went and saw them at The Gorge on August 27th. That was at the begining of the tour so Wings/10,000 Days and Right In Two werent on the set list at that point. I pray they do one more 10,000 days tour kind of like the way they did the Lateralus tour. I need to see them again. This makes me sad and reminds me of how much fun I had seeing these guys at The Gorge, one of the best venues in the entire country hands down.

The first time I saw Tool was in 2009, during the second leg of their 10,000 Days tour. I was completely sober at that time. Yet, it was one of the best experiences ever. I've since experimented with a ton of drugs, but the best mindset I've ever entered was listening to Tool alone, particularly during their later albums where they become experimental. There is no greater euphoria than a "Toolgasm". That's my claim. :)

I'm going to see these guys in Colo Springs next week, they haven't played this song at either of their stops in Colorado yet-- so I can't fucking wait to see it... It's gotta be on their set list now. Jesus what an amazing song.

Man, I traveled to UTAH the first time I saw them from California. Then I saw them here in Indio for coachella fest, then I saw them at san diego street scene, then I saw them in bakersfield (4-hour drive)
They are truly AMAZING, Live and in the Studio. Just fucking amazing!!!

this is a great vid of a rare stage show... Ive seen em 8xs, bout a wk after this & this is by far the best "show", didnt hurt being in seats stage left cuz the floor screen was sicccccK!!! I remember the red&amber lasers so vividly,,, i actually reached out & touched one ;)
I love how Tool discourages taping their live performances because it doesn't do it justice since it's supposed to be an experience. I'm not flying 3000 miles unless I'm allowed to hang out with you afterwards.

Shame they don't play this EPIC live anymore. I was lucky enough to have seen it twice. Still not enough. 10/7/2006 wings pt. 2 crowd reaction. Check that out. The band actually pulled out chairs and watched us light our lighters and scream and cheer for like 5 minutes, I'm sure they needed the rest. But I doubt they got as epic a reaction as Long Island gave them that night.
3rd or 2nd best show iv been to, was at the dublin show. can only be tooped by their download festival preformance.

@pebblefrog196 Thats why he refuses to play it live anymore. This piece is far too emotional for him to perform. You can hear the hesitation to even utter the next line in the song. Just goes to show that even as angry as he may be, he still has a heart, its just broken

if you have ever been to a tool show.. you would know that recordings dont sound so great, because they play their music SO FUCKING LOUD.. tool is amazing live.. you all should be happy that someone had the balls to record it.. they are very strict with there no camera policy.

For sale? No. There are several bootlegs floating around. I could send you an entire concert (this one if you want) for free. And by the way, Maynard has no problem with bootlegs, as long as you don't profit from it.. And might I suggest attending one of their concerts this summer.

Try ticketmaster online the second they go on sale. Thats the only way that works. Secondly, If that fails then hit ebay afterwards. In 2006 I Went to Fred Meyers for tickets at 6am,was third in line,and all tickits were sold before I reached the counter. Tha fuckin sucked asses.
