It's good to see how things can go wrong sometimes too. It's all a learning process, the good results and the woopsies! Still well done!
I find you quite real and entertaining. I believe that I will learn a lot from you, keep up the great tutorials for us beginners.
aww I appreciate that!
You have fun energy.
That was a great tutorial to show how you achieve your results. I recently learned about applying a thin layer of craft paint on the canvass before applying your acrylic paints, it really helps to keep the paint moveable for longer with a soft dreamy effect as a base layer. This process has deffinately improved my sky blending.
Do you use heavy body acrylics, as in Liquitex heavy body?
That was fantastic! Thank you sooo much! I.ll work my way through all your tutorials but for now.. this was just what I need. You're a Star for sharing. Love from Scottie land. ❤❤
I came across your IG and thought please have a CZcams channel 🥰 and here we are, thank you 🙏🏼 love your work.❤
Thank you SO much for these tutorials! They are amazing.
I kept freaking out about the hairs, now I know to keep going. You make it look so easy. Thank you again.
I must have missed that part with the hairs. Drives me bonkers! I have a brush by Color by Felix and 1 from HobLobs. They both shed and I hate stopping to pick them out. How do you handle them?
@@jenniferdominyhonestly I have found that make up blending brushes don’t shed nearly as much. I have some that NEVER shed. So I’d highly recommend trying some regular make up brushes! Lol
Thank you so very much for the fantastic tutorials.
I’m here from tiktok ❤️
i am so glad for this tips. and thank you so much. :)
I am constantly using four to six mops to blend and was wondering if I’m doing it wrong. 😅 glad to know I’m not the only one haha
Amazing explanation!! Thankyou💛
You're so welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Let me begin by saying YOU ARE AWESOME AND I LOVE YOUR ART!! Super talented!!!! I found you on tiktok❤ I cannot thank you enough for this AWESOME CZcams Channel. Omg thank you so much for everything you’re doing here ❤❤
Long story short: I was an Art major in HS … everyone told me that I would be a starving artist. So I gave up my dream. I was so young. That was about 30 years ago. I can’t believe it took me 30 years to realize I should have NEVER listened to what anyone said. ART was my outlet, my breathing. Since then, I became a creator in other ways: writing, teaching, plants. Now I’m here again, back with ART, resurrecting a love, therapy, and talent that I have left alone for so many years. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE! I am going to share your channel with my daughters. All four of us will come watch ALL your CZcams videos to not only support your channel, but also to carry on a legacy.
Let me just say this: YOU are SO VALUABLE to people in the world… your art is incredible. You sharing your skills, incredible.
What you’re doing here is priceless. You are truly awesome. Thank you❤❤❤
I just love it when I see people taking time to write nice comments to show their apreciation ! Yes! Laura is Great teacher and very talented Artist ! Thank you so much for very nice comments!
Thank you for the video!
I thought my colors only were fast to dry😅,but the panic in this video.this is me😂everytime.
Thanks for the tutorial❤
haha yep - pure panic! lol
Thank you so much 👏👏👏
You are so great at explaining wow you are busy
Thank you
Got it should have listened ti the end fir cleaning n drying 🤷👋🧁☕
For large canvas paintings acrylic is really difficult as it dries super fast. Your blending looks amazing!
Thank you so much...
thank you for your tips ;-)
My pleasure!
I love your paintings, and your teaching style.....very friendly and natural.
This blending method is just what I've been looking for. Is this background from one of your paintings in these tutorials ?
Thank you ma'am for explaining in detail. When your white dried while taping the canvas down, thats how my paint is pretty much as soon as I lay it down 😂
oh no! are you using the paint i'm using in this video??
I’ve been told to use a acrylic medium to keep it from drying too fast, my original solution was to place my humidifier in the room while I paint. It helped but I think I’ll give the medium a try next time and find proper mop brushes.
Get a portable hand held air brush kit, not for paint, but for just water. It sprays a very fine mist that doesn't spot up on the paint. My paint glides on like butter. I can paint for hours without my paint drying or getting too thinned out. They are very affordable and easy to use while you paint.
Where did you find a hand held air brush kit? I looked on Amazon but they were for painting and quite expensive
@@elliesikma3223 Hi Ellie, the one I have is cordless portable Sloan Gerth brand. It is $49 dollars. They are all for painting. You just put water in the cup instead of paint. Assuming your in the US. They range from $39 and up. There are many different ones to choose from in that price range.
@@kellyfuller8637 thank you
Hi. Thank god for tutorials like yours. I'm swedish and need mop brushes , but hobbylobby don't deliver to Sweden.
1/ So to find same size mop brushes like yours, could you list it up for me here? Maybe I can find it in a shop.
2/ Also what did you blend with your white acrylic to make the fog please? I couldnt understand (english is a second language) I only have acrylic paint in tubes at home, but REALLY want to test a foggy forrest!
3/ And also I didnt understand how you keep the paint 'wet' to move it around?
So 3 questions for you please....🌹🌹🌹🌹
1. colorbyfeliks
2. nothing, its just paint - no mediums
3. by using the type of paint that i am using - thats what makes it work
I have found that make up blending brushes work equally as good and I find they do not shed hardly if at all. Amazing! I’ll never buy regular mop paint brushes again in fact. 😊
I do have Felix mop brushes. I will need more.
About the paint; are Liquidex or Golden just too heavy? What colours should I get from Felix?
I often use golden fluid acrylics.. they're very thin. Any paint from ColorbyFeliks is wonderful - just add a bit of water
My paint dries too fast when I apply it on the top and bottom. Would an extender be ok or gesso even on the top and bottom? Thanks for this video. I love the results
You can try an extender, just play around until you find something that works for you!
Is there a particular canvas at Hobby Lobby or Michael's that you like? I splurged on my paints and brushes, but I'm curious if there's a more affordable but comparable canvas?
I really love the Fredrix creative series canvas :)
Maybe i missed the part about how to deal with the mop brushes shedding on the painting....do you pick them out, let them stay??? I have a colorbyfelix brush and 1 from HobLobs and they both shed.
its towards the end of the video, dry with hairdryer and pick them out
What about using a medium to prevent it drying so quickly, or a mixture with water. Using water on it's own as a thing agent can cause runs in the painting.
I personally don't like the results from using mediums, but you should give it a go!
Do you start with any water in your brushes
Only if i'm painting over existing paint (like if I mess up the first time and need to paint/blend again)
Can you use a matt medium to extend the drying time ?
yeah but i dont like doing that, it still dries too quickly for me and makes my paint too thin
Wouldn’t help if we wet the back of the canvas with a bit of water, to keep the acrylic paint from drying out quickly ?
I was wondering the same thing, or if lightly spraying the paint with water a slight distance away from the canvas. I really enjoyed this video because I wanted to learn how to blend the paint, this tutorial explained it really well for me. Definitely going to check out more of their tutorials! 😊❤️🔥
@@rockeesway you could try, but I understand from her videos that she doesn’t wet the paint with water, one could try and wet the front side of the canvas with a bit of water using a sponge. I have worked with acrylic as a first layer and used to sprinkle the canvas with a bit of water, my second layer was oil colours.
Sure you can try that! There's lots of ways to blend with acrylic paint - this is just my method! I've never been able to blend the way I want by wetting the canvas, so this is just what works for me. Everyone has to find what works for them and I'm just sharing my method :)
I've never been able to blend that way - but that's just me! I recommend trying different methods until you find what works for you! :)
Why no use of an extender to help keep the paint wet longer?
Because they don't give me the results I want :)
I’m confused the first painting didn’t work, you did the second one different with water is that how we do it? We blend in with water so it doesn’t dry to get the bottom layers to blend?
There was water in the second one because I had existing paint on the canvas. If you're blending over existing paint - its going to dry faster.. so I added a bit of water to help :)
You are a beautiful painter
FYI white and your black craft paint has less pigment and more glue in it. This will make it dry quicker
oh that's wonderful info to know!! Thank you!
How to clean your mop brush?
I use dish soap and water!
Can you use this on wood?
you can but you wont get the same blend, its going to dry much faster
How to clean these Mops??
I just use dawn dish soap if I'm using acrylic paint and mineral spirits if I'm using oils :)
By the time I add one color and on to the next one the first one dries off 😢
this is why you need thin paint and to work very very quickly!
@@LaurasBeatingArt Yes thanks. I did a DIY wet palette and it’s much better now and I keep on misting the canvas too.
How do you know what thin paint to buy?
why not use retarder mixed in with the white to slow down the drying time thus giving more time to blend
It's just not how I like to blend. The purpose of this video is to show my personal blending technique :)
Great video about blending BUT doesn't the acrylic paint dry on the mop brushes? You must clean it with water almost immediately. Just dapping on paper towelling wouldn't be enough. Maybe you just throw out the mop brushes after a single use
Mine doesn't dry immediately. Are you using really thin paint like I am?
Yes I am mostly using hi-flo acrylics. I tried your blending technique and am soooooo excited as it worked. Thank you. I just made sure I washed my mop brush soon after using it.
