  • In November of 2023, a White Bentley Flying Spur would careen into the U.S. Border Checkpoint at Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, New York, and the resulting footage of the incident captured by security cameras would both stun and bewilder observers worldwide. This is the story of that fateful, gloomy November day.

    As soon as you mentioned him accelerating and missing a turn, my first though was, "heart attack".

    I once witnessed a guy's car suddenly swerve to the side and then roll down a small hill. The car rolled several times and came to a stop against a tree, mere feet from hitting me on the sidewalk. I called 911 while other witnesses attended to him. Apparently he had a heart attack and it caused him to jerk his wheel to the side and his foot to slam on the gas. He was eventually okay but his car was totalled. It's absolutely a possibility that Kurt suffered a similar medical emergency. I honestly think the guy I witnessed was saved from more extreme harm by his car rolling so it never had the chance to hit a high speed before slamming into the trees he was beelining for.

    Here's a thought: they went to the casino but Mr Villani fell ill. They decided to hurry back home. Perhaps Mr Villani thought he could hold it together but his stomach had other ideas. He vomited violently and passed out--which caused the car to swerve sharply. Mrs Villani, seeing her husband's reaction, tried to yank the car back in line but Mr Villani's foot was still on the gas pedal when he lost consciousness and that, along with yanking the steering wheel, caused the car to hit just the right angle, and launch.
    After all, singer Harry Chapin had a heart attack while driving, and it caused him to swerve into traffic and collide with an 18-wheeler.

    • @sandrafaith
      @sandrafaith Před 2 měsíci

      If they decided to hurry back home, they were going in the wrong direction to get back to Grand Island. I suppose it's possible that he was not thinking straight and accidentally drove the wrong way, though. I think your scenario is plausible, if it wasn't the failure of the car itself.

      Maybe to use the restroom? Maybe to check on prices for a hotel room? Remember, the concert got cancelled so their original plans are now messed up. So maybe to check in to their room, drop off luggage., change out of concert clothes and put something more generic and nice on so they could have a normal date night, without a KISS t-shirts on. There’s a million reasons to spend just a few minutes at a casino.

    • @ejtappan1802
      @ejtappan1802 Před 2 měsíci +23

      This was my thought as well. I once got into an argument with my husband while he was driving at highway speeds. Rather than excellerate (we were already doing 70mph) he stomped on the brakes, causing us to spin uncontrollably in the middle of a four lane freeway. To this day, I have no idea how we didn't get hit by another car, didn't crash, didn't roll. In fact, the car was fine and we were just a little bumped and bruised. We were SO lucky. And I am now divorced.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras Před 2 měsíci +8

      An argument that no one in a bust casino saw them having? I can think of several other reasons for leaving after only just a few minutes. Maybe they went just for something to do- since it was never their original plan anyway- and while one was checking some social media or event groups found out something interesting was going on back in NY so they decided to leave. Or maybe someone texted asking to get together and again, since they weren't far away and were just killing the evening they'd planned for something else, decided to do that instead. Maybe they'd decided to go to one of the restaurants there but when they got there, saw the wait was huge or it was closed (I'm from an area where a good number of casinos are about 30-40 minutes away and people go there all the time just to eat in the restaurants). Maybe they just got there and decided "nah, not tonight". All of which have zero to do with the accident itself, which could have a number of explanations- as mentioned were stroke or heart attack but a seizure can basically turn your muscles to steel for a minute, tensing them intensely, which could cause the driver not just to stomp on the gas but be unable to turn the wheel. Or any number of car malfunctions. Whatever it was, it almost certainly wasn't intentional as you would have had to be able to see the future to know how it would turn out. It wasn't as if it were driven directly at a brick wall. It had to hit the curb with high enough speed to not just jump it instead of spinning but to launch it at still high speed into the wall, none of which the driver could be certain of. Not to mention that many cars, especially expensive ones, are built with all kinds of safety features that do everything from a warning light or alarm going off to actually applying the brakes for you if you're about to hit something. Anyone actually trying to hurt themselves or someone else wouldn't choose the most unlikely of scenarios that there's no way they could know the end of and there would be a good chance the vehicle wouldn't allow it anyway.
      I will say that auto braking feature is pretty nice. We have it in our Jeep and it works great when someone stops suddenly right in front of you. Though you want to hope you aren't drinking something when it happens because it will go up your nose and all over your front.

The only thing that would change my mind would be if there was some sort of mechanical failure involved (stuck throttle, etc). But this was a Bentley, not some rebuilt salvage from a buy here pay here lot on the brink of bankruptcy. You are awesome and I really enjoy your channel! I would like to offer some constructive criticism to help your channel reach more people. You could benefit from having someone edit a few of your scripts to improve your writing skills. If they explain their edits, you will be able to use that knowledge to refine your scripts yourself. For example, sentences without transition words at the end sound better. Your sentence at 2:00 “furthermore, unlike many of the US/Canada border crossings in the region, the rainbow bridge also notably sports clearly designated sidewalks to facilitate pedestrian crossings of the border, as well”. The “transitional phrase “as well” isn’t necessary. The “also” covers that. It’s like saying also before and also after something. 😊 That sentence uses extra words that aren’t necessary to get your point across. I would have written something like: “Unlike many of the other US/Canada border crossings in the region, the Rainbow Bridge has designated sidewalks to facilitate pedestrian crossings.” I would be happy to edit a few episodes for free if that would help! I’m not sure how to contact someone on CZcams, but comment here if you are interested and we will figure it out. 👍

    I've been sitting here puzzled how a car like a Bentley (renowned for being big, heavy, & sturdy) not only launches itself into the air from a relatively low starting speed, but also virtually disintegrates & turns into a huge fireball in what's effectively a head-on crash. A quick Google search for the Flying Spur and, well... no wonder Bentley are dragging their feet on the subpoena.
    Aluminium body & an electric hybrid engine? That fire is probably thanks to the battery, they don't tolerate impacts like a regular petrol tank is designed to withstand.
    When they're asking several hundred thousand dollars for one of these cars, it's concerning that it can't protect the occupants in a crash that would probably have been survivable in a Mercedes. Very tragic,.RIP 🤍
