    Hey there Gudea TW, I found your channel from your Bronze Age mod review and subscribed based on that - always great to see someone reviewing RTW mods!
    Very cool to see Fourth Age on this list; I've been on the team for years now and it's been great fun to work on it. Even now that the mod is basically finished, I've started my own channel focused on the mod, doing LPs and faction guides. Glad you enjoyed your time playing!
    You do a great job covering all these mods; I need to give some of them a try myself!

    • @GudeaTW
      @GudeaTW  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Count, thanks so much for this post! Yes I started this channel to talk about the historical Total Wars and their mods since I was feeling nostalgic, and as someone who has had Fourth Age installed from wayyy back in the day thank you for all your hard work on it! There certainly are a ton of great mods for RTW..

      FATW is probably one of the best mods made for the Total War games, considering what it achieves in such an old engine. It is truly a shame that it's impossible to mod the newer games to the same extent, especially the campaign map.

    • @countmrvhs776
      @countmrvhs776 Před 4 lety

      @@Aelendris Yeah, for me the pacing of the battles in FATW felt very similar to MTW (the original), which is probably my high-water mark for these things. (I didn't have anything to do with designing the battle aspect of the mod, so my praising it here isn't ego :P) Aradan did some amazing things with traits and mechanics to really stretch the campaign aspect as well.
      Completely agree about the mod limitations - it's too bad indeed.

    • @GudeaTW
      @GudeaTW  Před 4 lety

      @@Aelendris Definitely, FATW is probably one of the best TW mods of all time due to its incredible atmosphere and deep mechanics. I will definitely do a deep dive into the mod sometime soon.

      @@baconbaron1776 No plans to do that at this time - the team is currently working on another Middle-earth mod (set earlier in the Third Age, using non-remastered Rome Alexander as a base).
      The Remaster has some advantages, but there also seem to be some problems (for me, the UI is a big one), and so far we haven't seen enough of a change in terms of what's possible for modding to make it worth putting all the time and effort into remaking the mod for that platform.

    I highly recommend the “barbarian empires mod” for Rome total war. There are several provincial campaigns that go along with it including a vanilla campaign and a vanilla campaign with double the settlements. It’s great for those who still want a vanilla feel but it still adds much more units, reskins, rs2 environments and more. I would also recommend invasio barbarorum flagellum dei for barbarian invasion and /or somnium apostatae juliani. Good video though 👍

      Hey Alexander - I do like Invasio Barbarorum very much. I will also check out the barbarian empires mod - thanks for the recommendation! I'm thinking more and more of doing another one of these, perhaps I have to make a top ten after all, there are too many good mods I didn't include here. Just wanted to focus on some mods that haven't received so much attention lately. :)

      I just found Gudea's Channel, and I'd have to second this recommendation. For me the battles in SPQR 9.0 are the purest representation of what total war battles could be. About the length, I found that RS II battles were actually longer? I do love SPQR for its focus on the Roman Military machine and managing and tracking legions over a 1000 turn campaign is an experience unmatched in modern TW. I still play to this day, there is actually a small fan made update to SPQR TW that improves the map even further!

(without the quotes)
      If you have installed the Alexander patch and you have Alexander, then in Rome Total War Alexander launch options add "-show_err -mod:Chivalry -noalexander". (without the quotes)
