    So very sorry to hear about your Mums'passing. Like your Dad, she was doubtless very proud of the great work that you do on the farm and the dedication that requires - farming is certainly no 9 - 5 gig, it's go go go all the time. Your Mum at least got the good news of your forthcoming marriage to Davey, a fine chap for you and just as hard working.

    Well done on the scanning results ..you left out a few valuble contrbuting factors ..that is the hard work of you , Dad and your Mum and family, good husbandry and a life of dedication to your stock. Perhaps some of the ewes have reabsorbed the embryos or the few empty gimmers are infertile . That aside its with pride , love and a daughters true friendship that you talk about your Mum. Memories of her will be the easiest thing you carry and hold in life .Take care .

    Seeing multicoloured sheep bums and clever scanning devices is all fascinating to this non-farmer that’s for sure. Looking forward to seeing your videos from Springtime with the scenery and pronking lambs. Busy times ahead. Best wishes, Tony.

    I think if you have the barrens down to an acceptable number and with that lambing percentage, it’s probably better looking elsewhere for improvements. And whether it will be better to run triplets or having a very large pen of pets. Regardless, I’d be checking your feeders!
    Your mum might well have been trying to make you laugh. So keep laughing between the tears 👍

    Thinking of you at this difficult time, great result, sad about the empties, love learning about sheep farming from you. What is the difference between ewes and gimmers, is it the breeds?

  • @jamesbarbour8400
    @jamesbarbour8400 Před 6 měsíci +1

    Was wondering if you have a dedicated foot bath for the sheep, to treat them foot rot and whatever else. Thought they might be more prone than average to picking hoof infections due to the constant wet conditions underfoot.

  • @Oak_Hollow
    @Oak_Hollow Před 6 měsíci

    Some of the ewes could have slipped for any number of reasons. But, just keeping easy breeding livestock means a higher percentage of easy breeding stock in the future generations. As for the gimmers not cycling, I know that on the rare occasion, goats can be freemartins, nearly all from triplet and hugher litters where most of the kids are male. Perhaps sheep can be the same?

    Ewes could have just lost the embryos, were in lamb but then lost them later on hence why they haven’t repeated maybe. Maybe due to weather or something to check them. Seriously good scans though! What kind of rearing % are you able to get out the other end? Keep up the good work
