Nice work friend.... For the edges and sharp areas, instead of the garden hose you could also use Swimming Pool Foam Noodles :) Look to cheap electric motors for your next build :)

Pool noodles would tear to easy..that hose will out last the boat .

Has access to a welder, uses fiberglass instead. Fiberglass doesnt laminate very well to metals, it'll flake off after a few times in the water.

Instead of Cutting the Nose of the Boat... Could you just attach a Foam Nose and Cover with Fiber Glass
