  • Daniel Ricciardo’s return to Formula One after being let go by McLaren has been a disappointment to his fans. Many had high hopes that with a return to Red Bull, the charismatic Aussie would be back into an environment where he could thrive once again. That has not happened. Instead he has been dominated by Yuki Tsunoda, a driver who up until this year, was always a favourite to lose his seat during silly season. Red Bull are not a team known for being patient with their drivers and it sounds like they're all out of it when it comes to Daniel Ricciardo. Helmut Marko has given an announcement that has all but ended Ricciardo’s career, and today I’ll check it out, so don’t go anywhere.

    It's somewhat ironic that a fellow Aussie had essentially upended DRs campaign. Firstly because McLaren was desperate to sign Piastri over keeping him in their car. And secondly was Piastri stranded on that corner of Zandvoort, sidelining DR and giving Lawson the chance to shine. Not to mention Webber is Piastri's manager.

      Agreed, I said at the time, that Daniel will have to do a Verstappen on Yuki, and leave him in the dust, if he wants to go anywhere, and he can't even match him, lol.
      Although his recent performances have improved, it's just not, as Horner says, the "stand out" performance that he needed to show to get shot in the Red Bull, and that door has now shut, and I can't see any other team wanting a competent, but aging F1 Driver at this stage when there's so much cheaper young talent about.
      Daniel should go to Indy Car racing, it's more relaxed and he'll get a more competitive car there.

    “A tough Sprint Qualifying session for us for different reasons across both sides of the garage. We’ve done some experimentation this morning after our difficult weekend in Barcelona, and it was very good to do because we learnt a lot. Daniel had a lot of changes for the Sprint Qualifying session and it’s always difficult with one set of tyres. We knew needing to nail that first lap was going to be difficult to get the best out of the car. However, it’s a long weekend and we’ll learn more in the Sprint tomorrow, and then we have another shot at Qualifying in the evening. Yuki unfortunately went off on his second lap in SQ1 and damaged his floor. Without that, I’m very sure he would’ve been higher up. We’ll repair his floor overnight and make sure he’s got a perfect car for tomorrow.”

    I’ve always been a big fan of Dani, but his time has passed him I think. He’s got back to his old self as far as personality goes and could comfortably take over the reigns from couthard in their PR stuff. But Lawson is a good egg and, as much as it pains me, should be put into that RB seat as soon as possible. He’s young, has good pace, and is a teachable driver.

Yes than Daniel should go and be replaced be Liam, but also on that note how many more years does Yuki have left in the team?
    After 4 seasons, is he still considered a driver hwo needs development? Not in my mind. Maybe Lance Stroll does, but to me and many others, that would be a waste of a seat.

    Bout Alonso, he's keeping our race car drives out of the incompetence of the Stroll family so it's best he stays there as long as the Strolls stay in F1, would've been a good spot for Daniel if Alonso hadn't signed the new contract.

    I want to see Liam racing in F1 as much as anyone, and I would sadly agree that Ricciardo's time in F1 is probably nearing an end. However, I think people love to pile onto him when it's not entirely justified. Ricciardo had an inauspicious start to the season, for sure, but he has shown flashes, as well as started to at least be somewhat on par with Tsunoda. Obviously it's nothing that would cause one to rate Ricciardo over Tsunoda, but calling him washed and saying he should be out of the sport immediately is pretty disingenuous, unless we're going to say about a fourth of the grid should be ousted at mid-season along with him. He doesn't realistically have a shot at Perez's seat, but then again...Perez ain't exactly lighting the track on fire either.

    •  Před 10 dny +2

    • @bbtodd

      Riccardio is actually tied with Yuki, 6-6 including sprints, and giving Danny China as he was ahead before the DNFs. He also has the best qualifying session and best finish for RB this year. People expected DR to be a superstar this year and he hasn't been, but his underperformance is greatly exaggerated. And Yuki has Honda that is paying RB millions for his seat. And Checco has his backers in Mexico. So he may be out of luck.

    • @SaintKimbo
      @SaintKimbo Před 9 dny +1

      The problem for Danny is that he had to perform at a Superstar level to get a sniff at the Red Bull drive, but he just isn't at that level, not many are.
      Now that Perez is locked in at Red Bull, there's really no future for Danny in F1, as none of the Top Teams need a competent, experienced Driver, so what's he going to do?
      At best, he will run around the mid field in an underperforming car until he retires.
      He needs to get out now while he's still got some value to Indycar or WEC Teams, or he will just fade away.
