    I say this with respect. The comparison should be one Powerwall-3 against 3 IQ5P batteries.

      I thought about that and I chose the smaller battery to keep the pricing similar. In terms of capability, the difference between a 10 kw and a 13.5 kwh Tesla would be about similar to the difference between a 13.5 kwh Tesla vs a 15 kwh Enphase. The excess power you get from the 3 batteries is not worth the trouble - as you really cant run those high power devices anyway with either 1 Tesla or 2 or even 3 Enphase 5P's.       @@MySolarHomeUSA But I thought that the 13.5kwh is the usable capacity, whereas for Enphase 5P, 80% usable capacity will be 4kwh. Hence, there is 8kwh usable capacity for the 10kwh. Therefore, a better comparison should be 3 Enphase (12kwh usable capacity, assuming 80% DOD) and one Tesla Powerwall.

      @@1982757 The usable capacity of the Tesla Powerwall 3 is 13.5 kwh and the usable capacity of 2 Enphase 5P batteries is 10 kwh. The big boys give the usable capacity upfront. You don't have to do the 80% calculation. Thank you.

    Gedankenexperiment....in an off grid scenario w/o solar and only a PW3, what happens if your whole home backup draws more than 48 amps?
    Extrapolation.... say we have a PW3 and go off grid while a Teala model Y is charging at 48 amps. Would energy simply flow from the PW3 to the Model Y through the backed up Tesla wall charger? Or does the PW3 somehow communicate to the charger to quit?

      To your question about the Powerwall 3 charging the CyberTruck (Congratulations !!!). Yes if you are out of home and your Powerwall 3 is on whole home backup mode - and that is the current configuration as far as I know, then it will start charging the Truck and go kaput in a couple of hours. Re Powerwall 3 working with Enphase - Tesla did tell me that they are working on launching an AC couple version towards the end of the year. I would make sure your solar installer actually has an AC coupled Tesla Powerwall 3. BIG CAVEAT - if you do Powerwall 3 with Enphase, you are wasting a lot of money. Thats because the Powerwall 3 has an inverter to take care of the panels and the battery. Now with Enphase the Tesla solar panel inverter will remain idle, unused and you would have paid for it. Either go all the way Enphase or all the way Tesla is my advise. I personally think its not going to be too big a difference in energy output as long as you have a couple of big arrays.     1. I've seen several sources and one of my quotes say PW3 has 150 LRA. I see 185 LRA as you said. Why the difference? Are there different versions?
    2. We talked before about PW3 NOT being capable of AC coupling (micro inverters). And others say the same. But sonething changed recently. My Tesla guy said it is possible now. And that is what PES quoted me....REC + micro + PW3. But why? My guess would be shading or snow covered panels? In Florida with minimal shading, I would think the advantage of micro inverter effiency would be less than the lower cost of DC coupled strings without conversion losses. Probably fewer boxes on my wall as well ....

      Hey Drew, Apologies. I thought I had replied to this earlier. I presume congratulations are due for your new Cyber Truck. Congratulations. In Florida with a single or two array solar panel system the Tesla Powerwall 3 will do as well or better than Enphase Microinverters. With the cost advantage, Powerwall 3 would the route to go for you. Re the AC coupled Powerwall 3, I am not sure if it has been launched. Until I see some actual installs or if your installer has confirmed in writing that you will get an AC coupled version, I would be careful.     No, I don’t think so. Right now the industry ,technology of all products is changing, more offerings and better equipment so next year when the new equipment comes out, why would I buy last year‘s equipment even if it was cheap why ? not me.
    Most countries with Solar use the larger 450 to 600 W panels and equipment. And it’s coming in the next few years to us . see more change.

      I agree using the latest tech is the best. In solar the tech does not change that fast and last years tech might still be the best this year as well. Re the 450 to 600 watt panels - those are actually commercial grade panels - the are much larger than the residential panels and not suitable for use on our roofs. The most efficient residential panel we have today is the REC 470. I expect we will see some more panels in that range next year. Thank you.
