- End of April 2024, the US dollar soared to 160 yen, marking a historic low for the Japanese yen, unseen in over three decades. This yen depreciation has fueled Japan's popularity among foreign visitors, leading to an over-tourism phenomenon in Japan.
Visitor numbers skyrocketed to 3.08 million in March 2024 alone, a staggering 111.6% increase compared to March 2019, reaching the highest level since the onset of the pandemic.
Amidst these circumstances, Japan has undergone many changes to make your travel or stay more comfortable and enjoyable. For instance, the Hokuriku Shinkansen line expanded in March 2024, serving a record 720,000 passengers in a month. In April 2024, the issuance of new visas commenced, facilitating longer and simpler stays in Japan. Additionally, various new tours and amusement park attractions catered to foreign visitors have emerged.
This video presents the latest updates in 10 points, ensuring your Japan journey is smoother, more comfortable, and more enjoyable. Stay tuned till the end for valuable insights.

Thank you for sharing your plan.
Oh, both are wonderful places.
You can go to a nearby remote island by ferry from either side, so please try it out!
I’m going to Japan on 21st may. Looking forward to it.
Wow, the best time to come to Japan.
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!
Me and my family going this early June
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!
We are here now. Started 4 days im tokyo and went all the way to beppu. Currently in osaka. Went yesterday to nara. Amazing for the tourists that the yen is sooo low.!
Japanese currency is so weak. I think it's the best time for foreigners to come to Japan!
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan.
I love the Toilet tour idea!!
I love too!
man that's nice.... maybe now i can actually get to shirakawa in under 6 hours.
Yes! I like Shirakawa-go!
Do you mean from Fukuoka?
@@Malthan depends i have multiple i could go from... i'm currently planning for a longer travel throughout japan
currently i'm thinking to go from shinshiro to shirakawa-go... 🤔
Hey Toshi! I've got my JR Pass for 7 days, Can't wait to see you in July, I've already converted 500 USD to Yen, I think I'm going to put more on Iphone Wallet Suica. I'll be avoiding too expensive food/service as you've mentioned in your other videos. I can't wait to see you! Thank you for sharing the information you know about Japan. =D =D I wish I could rent a house in Japan, I would never leave!
I wish I could afford the helicopter tour :)
Thank you for watching and friendly comment as usual!
It's amazing that you already made a lot of preparations.
I look forward to meeting you in person in Japan!
Before covid just 250usd / 7 days. 500usd /14 days
Hey I'm going there as well. However, isn't it risky to already convert money to Yen as it drops value for every day? (as explained in the video)
Going in November and skipping Tokyo all together this time. Prices of hotels and trains have increased alot since 2023.
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan again!!
Almost to my flight from chi ago
Going to be there coming autumn. Very excited!
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!!
can you give suggestion to me for what place should I visit in Japan on 18th June until 23 June during rainy season?
If it's raining, it's good to go to indoor facilities such as team labs and aquariums.
Going there in a few days before the taxes hit 😂😂😂😂. Although the weak yen is good for me but I am really concerned on the stability of the currency as this wont end well for the Japanese people.
Thank you very much.
I am really concerned on the stability of the currency too...
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan.
is it true that the transit ticket machines in english charge more than the ones just in japanese ?
I don't think so. I've never heard of it.
Shame they don't extend the 2 year holiday visa to 40 😩
I am surprised that the Osaka tourist tax is 'still under consideration' because I paid this tax already at my hotel 2 weeks ago.
What tax did you pay?
If it is accommodation tax, you still have to pay for it today
@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan I don’t mind paying it because I travel a lot and pay a city tax in many European cities. But the tourist tax is a different tax then? By the way we didn’t pay any extra tax in Tokyo.
I'm not an expert, so I don't know.
However, as a tourist guide, I hope foreign tourists have a wonderful time in Japan. So the Japanese government is under consideration. It has an impact on you and I share it with you on CZcams.
@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan Oh yes I had a wonderful time and really want to go back. But I hear all these negative things about tourists now and I worry about how things will change in the future 😞. Please keep making the great videos 😀
7:19 I guess it may be different for Japan, but in the United States that price for a helicopter tour would be outrageously overpriced
Helicopter tours are also expensive in Japan.
However, there are price differences, so I think it's cheaper than riding in the U.S.
@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan I meant that helicopter tours are a lot more expensive in Japan. In the United States you can get helicopter tours as little as $300 per person or 46,732 Yen in today’s equivalent
yep that was all intersting stuff...
you know what's really a shame? that there are barely any overnight-trains anymore :( sleeping in a train, not in a seat but in a futon or whatever is an awesome idea and it's perfect for getting to more desolated areas that need 5 hours and more drive from one place to another.
there are many examples when traveling to certain regions that are close by-car are like 5-6 hours away by train.
an overnight train would mean you don't loose a whole day you could spend having fun. AND you would consolidate traveling cost and hotel cost. those are basically like capsule hotels that actually also move you to your destination.
why did they get rid of that? there' sonly one overnight train left and... yep it doesn't cover my location.
Malaysia has digital nomad visa roo
Thank you for sharing other country's info!
anual income of 60k euros with a low yen. its insane for just a visa.
Thank you for sharing condition for the Visa!
Japan needs to build a mathematical algorithm similar to the S&P 500, and have extreme levels of checks and balances across all forms of business that is the only way they (Japan) came make their Yen strong again, but will they that is the question, even with China targeting them will they survive these next 200 years only time will tell
S&P500 is a stock index, not an algorithm. A comparable index for Japan is the Nikkei 225.
I’m coming with my wife for three weeks.
I hope you have a wonderful time in Japan!!
don't care about taxes, i will go to the countryside either way. suck it big cities 😏
I really want foreign tourists to go to Japanese countryside!!
@@Toshi-Guide-from-Japan hehehe~ then i'm glad.
but sadly it's not that easy...
it's relatively easy to travel along the west cost but if you want to go in the inner japan the public transport is quite picky.
like did you know that it's 5 hours from zao fox village to zao onsen? those places are directly beneath each other but no train and no bus connects them you need to drive back to shiroishi and then to zao onsen.
it's the same with a lot of places. most of the rice teracces i wanted to visit for example are not connected by any publicly known bus.
i really wish i had a japanese friend or so who'd travel with me... who has a car 😆 it'd be so much more easy. even if i were used to driving in japan you drive on the left side and that's a bit dangerous for someone like me who never drives and has the driving license only for show
Hi, Toshi I'm from Philippines. Thanks for beautiful update regarding Japan. As you mentioned, there are natural, cultural, and food unique to that country. So, I like traveling abroad!
What's the point of your comment? Halo halo is another disgusting pinoy food.
