  • Here's an original traditional country ballad about a guy who's living in the past, on her memory, one drink at a time. Mike "Slo-mo" Brenner joins me on pedal steel guitar here. Below are the lyrics if you want to read:
I'm sorry, I can't tell you much about her now,
See I came to drink her off my mind.
But if you're gonna play that sad waltz on the jukebox
Then order me a double to go, and let me drink it slow,
    And I can show
How keeping a memory can bury a man.
See I met her out on the road now
    Some ten odd years ago...
Her loving smile would cut right through me,
Ruby red lips, and dark eyes burning wild,
    Friend I'll tell you why...
Oh a lover, just like her, can bury a man.
The way I fell, I had no shame at all.
No the phone never rings, she never called.
I can't shake this idea in my mind,
Had I one more memory to make,
    One more time to try...
Oh, bartender, another, before I start to cry.
She went out of her way just to see me
After I told her I loved her so.
And that memory of how she touched me so softly,
I thought I'd left far behind.
See at one time I thought she'd be mine...
Oh if weakness were strength, I'd be the measure of a man.
The way I fell, I had no shame at all.
The phone still don't ring, she still don't call at all.
And all I can think in my mind,
I just need one more memory to make,
    One more time to try...
Bartender, another, before I start to cry...
Oh bartender, another, before I start to cry...

Brilliant, that's a classic, you have transported me back to the 70's when country music was great

This is your best work yet. A slow sad waltz, a great story of lost love that is causing heartache, drinking, tears and memories.
    Very well done.

Thanks so much! Not a popular style of music today but I do love it most.
