How to differentiate a math disability using the (WISC-V)? I have had educational testing through the school done on my son, but there are differences in opinions within the professionals involved and who are looking at the same scores, My son’s doctor is a psychiatrist and suspects there is a math disability, but the school psychologist contributed the scores to his ADHD. The psychiatrist is very aware of the ADHD and made the diagnosis, so am unsure how to move forward in getting him the help he needs. I am doing an incredible amount of work that has allowed him to progress in school. One I example, I am now LETRS trained as I saw a need based on how things were taught in early kinder. A cueing method was being taught and he was regressing from where he was upon entering school. He also gets outside help in math through another math teacher who we pay. His results on the educational testing showed areas of weakness in the areas of math.. My concern is his emotional health at this point. He cries and says, “ it so hard mommy, please don’t make me go to school” . Any guidance you can provide would be helpful. Thank you for any information.

Hey I'm from south africa and went to a day hospital where we get free service for poor communities and I went so I could be diagnosed and had a student doctor tell me there is no such thing as dyscalculia
I asked have she heard about me and she said she has never heard about it so I don't understand how she could so quickly say it doesn't exist
And knowing that I'm not good at talking I probably explained it wrongly to her but did tell her I heard it is under researched
    What do I do?

Educate yourself on the topic, print out academic journals on dyscalculia authored by educational psychologists, return to the office, and make your case. Tell the student doctor to please write a referral to a doctor who can help you.
