    Maybe use the fragrance on wet soap , lotions and scrubs combo along with the soap. Mother’s Day is around the corner. That way you don’t have to discount it. Prices keep rising like crazy. The cost of OO is just insane. I went to Costco and walked away with none.

      Hey Clivia! I guess I don't understand the wet soap comment...I'm slow sometimes LOL
      But I do like the combo idea! Thanks my friend! 💞

      Thanks Chely! I'm looking at my cost right now, maybe going back to the drawing board - I may swap some of the olive for rice bran to lower the cost - not sure if I will keep the avocado, probably but at a lower %...I'm never satisfied LOL

    This recipe sounds amazing! I wish I wasn't allergic to shea butter. I know I'm missing out, shea brings a lot to table.

      hey Nora! I didn't know that about you! I switch between mango, shea and cocoa butters. I usually use whichever I have the most of. I actually was going to run a test of all 3 to see the difference (if any) they bring to the soap...I will add it to my list so I remember LOL

      yeah, I was bummed about that - it will work in bath bombs though so not a total loss, but the soap has been hard to move...🙄Thanks for you comment!

      so you don't use a liquid oil (other than castor)?
      I just got a ton of unprocessed tallow - I'm super excited to get to use it.

      @relevant.c5411 Před 4 dny

      @@WalnutCreekBathBoutique nope. my lard is 50/50 tallow/lard, coconut for cleansing but not too much or it will be drying, shea for moisture, castor for lovely bubbles and i always add a bit of salt for hardness. sugar will also add to bubble experience. for baby soap i use only olive oil and let set up for 8 months. super gentle. for laundry soap i use only coconut oil. must cut that within a few hours or it will get too hard to cut. love ur channel, thanks for sharing.

    I'm trying to find a good one with low or no olive oil. It's too expensive these days

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique

      I hear ya! 😣🤑I remember a number of years ago Lowe's had Rice Bran oil for deep frying dirt cheep - I rushed to every Lowe's I could find and stocked up on those big boxes of oil - I replaced 100% of my olive oil until I ran out. I have been scoping Lowe's again but they no longer are carrying it (that I can see)
      Long story short is swapping olive for rice is usually much less expensive! 😃Obviously run it through the lye calculator! 😊

    Tammy. Thanks for showing the soap calc. I find it interesting that recipe 2 was so close to recipe 1. 1 was a little less cleansing (14 to 15) and a little more conditioning (58-57) Maybe those tiny differences were what prompted your testers to give recipe 1 the nod. I am still trying to use these numbers to guide my choices. How much attention do you pay to these numbers? BTW the slight difference between the greens did show up clearly on my monitor. Thanks for making your process so transparent.

    • @MsAubrey
      @MsAubrey Před 2 měsíci

      I can’t speak for Tammy, but I personally don’t pay much attention to the numbers, because I do a soap for those who have lots of allergies. The numbers show no cleansing, but in reality, all soap cleanses. It’s just a matter of how harshly it cleanses. Moreover, if you find a soap doesn’t have the lather you want to see, you can always add sugar to the water before mixing with lye. Or add confectioners sugar to the oils.
      Hope that helps. 😊

      Hi Lynda! Yes the recipes were very close, I knew the oils/butters I wanted to use I just was trying to figure out my percentages. I will say the slight differences in formula made a slight difference in the quality LOL
      I look at the numbers but like Aubrey states, I don't pay too much attention as they don't take into account any superfatting or any additional good stuff we add. Using Aloe in place of water will make a difference, adding some clays will change the lather, and so on.
      I do look at cleansing mostly just to make sure I don't have a number that is too high - but with a grain of salt.
      Thanks for letting me know about the colors coming through!
