I don't know what's more impressive, the technical knowledge or the video editing and camera work.
Ditto - having tried to make a most simple video I am so impressed with this complex one and how well and easily it 'reads'.
I so love listening to people like lee, who is humble when someone asks an obvious question. He is so intelligent and kind in his response, that the person asking the question can fully understand the original statement and feel good about it. Bravo!
Man is orange is well educated and humble. I watch videos when I see Lee!
2 years later, I wonder what happened to Lee?
When I was an electrical tech I used to remove my wedding ring because that can conduct electrical current too.
Jamie and Lee both have hearts of gold. Everybody helping on that project is awesome. I wish I could be Lee's Apprentice. He explains things clearly and he has lots of patience. Jamie please take off your jewelry while doing electrical work. Especially your ring.
Watching this on boxing day reminds me of what this day is all about - boxing up our extra - talents included, and sharing. I commend the patient, hard work of these men and seeing the team work going on this video says so much for their character. I'm so happy for the woman being blessed by this install - may it continually encourage her on her journey through life.
Yes together it's like Ralph jeans in and ed Norton of honeymooners it's good seeing Lee again he is amazing!!!!!
My head is spinning, thank God they know what they're doing. Can you imagine what it would have cost to set up this system. God bless everyone who worked on her van. You all earned many stars in your crown.
You guys rock. Really nice of you to help so many people out. Great job.
Hey Will. Id look forward to you joining sometime. Great job with your how-to videos!
Lee’s back, good to know he’s applying his god given talents.....you rock Lee. Thanks Jamie really happy to see Lee.
Chocolate Vanna DITTO I thought I was the
Only one who missed Lee and thought he fell off the face of the Earth since Jaime’s Van Tour with Lee.
An old aircraft mechanic once told I should always connect the power wire to the battery positive first so there is no electrical arc. After the positive is connected the ground wire is secured to the battery negative. This way It won't matter if your wrench touches ground because it's negative to ground. The problem with connecting the negative first is you run the risk of the wrench arcing if it touches ground while securing the positive.
It's always a pleasure watching a skilled worker who knows how to do the job right.
This is my all time favorite video! Watching and listening to Lee and Jamie working together is a real learning experience for viewers. GREAT video Jamie and Lee-Thank you! Superb...
I must agree, this kind of quality content is why I don't even watch Hollywood TV crud anymore.
I learn so much , thank you for your hard work
The guy in the orange shirt really knows his stuff....great video.
That is Mr. Lee Blake. A Rocket eng.
very smart man that is , he needs his own CZcams channel
@@georgezgreek Totally agree with you, that man has some mad skills
Mad Greek Outdoors When Jaime did a Van Tour of Lee’s Conversion, there were a Link or Two for Lee but periodically I would click but No Uploads, hence I thought maybe something happened to Lee. GLAD to see NOT the Case ALIVE KICKING sharing His Immense Knowledge Talent :))
Great video Jamie I wish I could have made it down there to the van build however my RV still broke down and cannot travel stuck in Golden Valley at The Outpost been waiting on my mechanic come back so I can get some parts and hopefully maybe get down to Quartzsite for the RTR have safe travels brother keeps Sunny Side Up and the greasy side down
I'm overly excited to see Lee. I'd tried to find him after viewing his previous van tours and it was like he'd fallen off the face of the earth. I've already forwarded this video to those who wondered the same thing, we were thinking the worse and I'm so happy we were wrong. Jamie and the rest of the people who also rocked I say "thank you". I'm so excited for my own build coming in 2019. I'm a former otr truck driver who's usrd to living living in such a manner. I'm also a seamstress /upholster for a yacht manufacturer, so many of my thoughts for my design are based off of the functionality, practicality and visual effects of the trucking and marine industries. I'm looking forward to participating in a van build meet in the near future. THANK YOU.
What a team. Seemed like everyone was learning from everyone.
I have been connecting stuff to stuff for years! Now I know what I would have volunteered to do. The precision, patience and care taken, even with the arm chair quarterback sitting there 😂, is impressive.
I could do this nomadically for a living. Love it!
Great work. I truly hope the efforts and donations here and throughout the van build are truly appreciated.
L. Anthony LOL for QB he he he
In the future, keep the mc4’s on the roof DISCONNECTED until all your battery connections are made.
P.S. Nice to see you again, Lee. 👍
I pray Lee Blake is still around. I love the videos and hope his channel goes on line soon
I don’t like using electrical tape on wire to lug connection points, heat shrink tubbing is a better solution. Great video fellas, well done.👍
I just can't say enough how good this this man really is..... We love you Jamie for all you do and the generous soul you have........:):),
AND >> Lee Blake
@George Fenrich I'm sorry I did not know he was helping with then fire victims as well. And also Sir I was talking about just how Jamie is always in General all the time. Sorry if I left someone out. Ty Have a blessed and merry Christmas.......
Thanks Mr.Lee Blake......
Fantastic community that brings knowledge from all fields and lifts us all with the knowing of how things work
I'm about 6 minutes into this video and I can already tell it's going to be epic. Awesome to see Lee and the gang work on something. Thanks!
Great to see Lee working on this project. Thanks to Battleborn for their generous donation and to Jamie for bring it all together.
Nice to see Lee is still about. His camper is probably one of the nicest out there..
This warms my heart and gives me hope for humanity. May God richly bless those who donated worked and gave. What a wonderful video - an education in electrical system and even more in interconnectedness of people with loving hearts!! The videographer is very talented at his/her work. And oh that sunshine and warmth!!
Mr. Blake is a National Treasure! 🖖🏼
I understand nothing about it but love Lee’s amazing build. Nice of all of them to help out.
Love the way Lee explains. All the knowledge in a calm manner. Thanks Jamie and Lee 🏴
Lee Blake, your an awesome man! Two thumbs up!!!!!
Thank you so much for showing an actual solar install with all the wiring and explanations. Very helpful Gentlemen.
Kudos to all involved including the videographer who made this excellent video.
I saw Lee’s van after he was done with it and it is a stunning build. Beautiful work.
Cyndi Foore Your LUCKY in person. I was in AWE when Jaime did 2-Van Tour Vids of Lee’s Conversion. Such a Knowledgeable and Talented man. I only wish I had an OUNCE of his Skill Set. :)$
Way to go everyone!!! Awesome job...Lyra should be one happy and functioning camper by now. I would love a follow up video to see how she is doing.🤩
I feel like I’m getting closer to my van build just watching you guys. I don’t have a van but I would like to. Watching you guys and your synchronization is absolutely amazing. Lee I love your organization based on function. If I am ever able to do a van build I would like to implement your ideas. Wish I were there so you guys could do my van build. Is it possible for dreams to still come true
I concur with Gypsy Hobo, love this video. I am pretty handy, on the other hand... Lee forgot more than I ever knew. I'd love to met him one day.
That solenoid thing is actually a battery isolation manager, especially
made for Lithium batteries. What it does is protect the batteries
against too high voltage (>14,4v) and too long charge feed. It lets
you charge for 15 minutes, then stops for 20 minutes and repeats the
cycle until full. It will also take care of the car battery as it will
not charge the Lithium batteries if the voltage is below 13,3 v. That
helps the car battery to get a full charge first.
Thanks for sorting that out for us...👍
Thanks for the tips!
Love the crimper Lee used. A car audio guru taught me to fill the cable terminal cups with electrical solder and slide the heavy cable into molten solder before crimping. I had never heard of the copper paste before. I ran heavier cables from my Keyline split charger to my two 6 volt Deka Pro master batteries. Almost two years later, I have had no problems so far.
I surely would have loved to meet Lee, as I would all of you, but I’ve have watch your videos of Lee a dozen times at least. Trying to model my build similar to his but with my wants in there. Maybe on the next build if not sooner.
Great patience by all. Well played 🎈
Wow! All you guys are impressive. Amazing talent. Amazing job!
Jamie and Lee thank you so much for helping others the way you do. I pray the LORD blesses ya’ll beyond your expectations. Thank you.
the BRUCE LEE of van building.
Last part of video... is why you hook up all the grounds LAST. That way if you slip with a wrench... unless you hit the positive terminal, nothing will happen. And while you are wiring up the the vehicle, disconnect the ground of the vehicle battery too. Also lithium batteries can draw an insane amount of current charging and discharging, that is why you need an isolator, it will damage your alternator. A normal vehicle battery has a high internal resistance when charging, so that is why it doesn't damage the alternator. With lithium batteries and an alternator, it will draw current to the point where the alternator fan can't keep it cool enough, then it will overheat and short.
Love watching Lee Blake !!!!❤
Genius mind at work! In in love!
What an amazing group of people.
Lyra is a lucky lady.
You all are wonderful human being. Thank you❤️
You must appreciate these guys. My battery connector has corroded and fraying from the cable. Bought the replacement but due to a short wire I decided to let a professional replace it. Just to crimp that thing on cost $20 dollars.
great video Jamie we need more of these type of vids help folks learn to about solar and electrical systems
I was just looking at that lithium battery isolation manager on the Battle Born site last night. This video was very helpful. Nice work, and thanks for posting.
Nice job team, I found Busbars work well, only a single feed to batteries with a 100amp in-line fuse on the pos.
This is so awesome to see how teamwork is going with all the guys working together on a very extensive Solar project! What a wonderful video Jamie and filming person did a great job making this whole system work out so well! I hope I can make one of these meetups just to make some friends and have fun with you all!! 👍👍👍😍
WOW!! That was very interesting to watch!! I did not understand it all but kind of understood some. That was some major skills. :)
GREAT COMMUNICATION TEAMWORK !!! Glad to hear see Lee Is Out There Somewhere In this case the Van Build. Ever since his Van Tour, I had Subbed to his Channel(s) But Nothing was Uploaded and Wondered whatever happened to him. LOL I had to watch this VERY Informative installation in 3-Viewing and this was WAY OVER my Comprehension. The Recipient is VERY LUCKY to have this Team Volunteer their Time. :))
you gave me a great idea for my exit plan and retirement!
Its great to see Lee! Happy to see hes doing well! Its so cool how you guys help each other!
Great video and in depth information , thank you all
We learn so much from these videos. Thanks for teaching us what we need to know or even better what we want to know about campers/vans and the solar!
Merry Christmas!!
Whoever the videographer manning the camera: excellent skill level. This isn’t an easy job, and they aren’t posing; all action shots w appropriate closeups and movement to the subject for the viewers. Steady hand/pro equipment, great sound. Anything less and this vid would not be watchable! YOU’RE HIRED! Thank you. I’ll look again to see if you’re in the credits. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sev is the man!
Always a pleasure to see Lee and hear a few good nuggets of information. Otherwise, this video left me with the impression that an electrical/solar power system is too complicated for the average person to install. I would have liked to have seen a video edited down to just the play by play of how to accomplish this setup on my own. I don't think I've seen a video on CZcams yet that explains a system from start to finish in a way that can be duplicated.
check out DIY solar power with Will Prowse, he has both a CZcams channel and a website forum
Lee is the man!
Good to see him again
Thank you for making this video and for helping someone have safe power. Its so nice to see people working together to make a better world.
Nice work Fellas~ You’re outstanding in your field ‼️👍
The man in the orange shirt is very knowledgeable.
That is Mr. Lee Blake. A Rocket eng.
George Fenrich BROTHA LEE IS BACK!!👍🏾🙏🏾💪🏾
Experience is a great teacher.🛠
Love! a man who can get the job done well!
Lee!!! You’re amazing!!!👠🚌👠
Best Video ever! Love you guys. Jamie and Lee are "Super Heros" in my eyes. You are Blessed. Hugs from me. Hope to meet you on the road someday. Cheers and safe travels.
39:42 looks like the mice have a home in the hood insulation. Klien crimpers are the best. Thumbs up Jamie.
Lee is the Man
OK, someone add the "Dymo label maker" to Jaime's Amazon list. rotflmao. Thanks @Enigmatic Nomadics & Lee - I couldn't have paid for all the knowledge I just got in that 57 minute video.
Oh my goodness I so wish I could have Lee help me get my retirement rig going.....he seems so sweet!
This is really interesting but my brain started hurting half way through. Gah! Electric!
Thumbs up always good stuff Jaime.
Thank you mijo ♡
Nice generous team work
Here's a tip, instead of cleaning the paint surface with rubbing alcohol which is 91%, and a brillo pad, use 99% alcohol from an automotive store, and Lava soap which gives a super clean surface that doesn't compromise the paint so much. 😊
Excellent work guys:)
Best video ever!
many skillful persons job well done
Awesome thing and video, good job! Guys knows what to do. 😊👌
I'm scaret if i some day i know how to do solar installation on the car roof, wondering alot up front. 🙈
you got some pretty smart people doing this work.
Always better to not stack up connectors on the batteries use a buss bar ...less corrosion problems and a buss accommodates future growth
BROTHA LEE!!!!!!
You can also use dielectric grease or electrical waterproofing spray on your electrical connections to keep moisture out. CRC makes both which is available at O'Reilly Auto Parts stores. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.🙂
He is awesome
Awesome effort...!
enigmatic and lee, awesome good stuff.
can you tell me what kind of van Lee has?
thanks
MrAnarchris
2012 commercial V8 Nissan NV3500 high roof with tow hitch.
Great video... not a DIY for the faint hearted :) You guys rock
Awesome !
This video made my head hurt.
Rome Rides DITTO LOL and I am in AWE
Bravo! Gents! Brain power at its best!👍👍😄
W O W! Lee is great.
When Lee speaks, E.F. Hutton listens. LOL
They should label both ends of all cables so if anyone else ever needs to work on it they know what’s what
Lee is AIRCRAFT all the way, not Jiffy Lube! We use the same type of wire insulation cutters (and Im sure to come, but I haven't gotten that far in the video) and crimpers on aircraft.
The other guy was correct about a condensation drip loop on the wire, but that's more important where you actually have a high degree of condensation, for example when an aircraft takes off from Miami international where it's 90°F and the plane ascends to 30,000ft. altitude where it's -60°F.
Check the inside of the van door at 15:24.
He even made a storage pocket.
Isn't that Lees van?
You should NEVER wear rings, or other jewelry when working with electricity. Saw a guy once, weld his ring to the positive battery post and ground. The ring became a heating element, and the guy tried to remove his hand but couldn’t until help arrived and was able to free him. The ring cooked the flesh around the finger so bad the doctors had to sew the finger into his abdomen to grow flesh on to his injured finger in order to try to save it. This is an ordeal I hope no one reading this ever has to endure.
♡
That one aught jumper wire was very flexible. Was it ‘ welding ‘ wire ?
