Greetings to the team and their fascinating work! As a former assembler at Mercedes Bremen, I recall the challenges with right-hand drive models and manual transmissions - a task not many were eager to take on. I personally assembled the cockpit. The modifications on the SLK 2004 bring back many memories. Wishing you continued success, and looking forward to the upcoming episodes!
Looking forward to your episode every week! I'm completely baffled you only have so few subscribers! You're doing a great job with the gullwing and the videos as well! Keep up the good work!!
I don’t have masses of fibreglass experience but any time I sliced it and filled it, it wasn’t successful long term. It sank and the line became visible again through the paint. You have one section, a filler material and another section, they flex, expand and contact at different rates. Any successful repair I made I had to feather the slice down to nothing over a 2-3 inch area. Build it up with Matt and resin, then come in from the back, feather the rest of the joint away and Matt/resin. So that transitions from one piece to the next, not a join. But try it and see if you like. I can only tell you what hasn’t worked for me. It’s ideal if it ends up a uniform thickness. If you can find the ‘overhauling’ episode where they done the lotus Europa it shows a lot of the work they done to modify it. Although I can’t remember the process they used on it.
Many years ago (about 20) i worked on and drove a 1955 RHD Gullwing (from research there were 8 converted for the Australian market) I had to tune the engine on a rolling road other small jobs. Then drove it 50 miles to Goodwood for the then owner. I was amazed at how nice it drove for such an old car. it was For Sale back then for £120,000. (be 10 times that now.)
Coming along nicely boys, great work again, couple of weeks ago you were talking about Bob Ross, this week Norm Abram, all the shows you & I grew up on in the early days Discovery Home & Leisure on Sky, what we having next week This Old House, or Bob Vila.... great stuff, Happy New Year to you all
Happy new year guys.🎉 Love this project and I’m amazed that you have turned a R171 into a W198 in essentially a month and are almost ready for paint. Question, are you going to cut the roof vents out even if they are only for the look?
Seems like you got a body from a mold taken off of one of my uncle's replicas. Does this make us family? I'll share some photos on your Facebook messenger
Nice to see the build progressing so well, but I can’t help worrying about you not wearing mask while doing all that fiberglass work. You’re not doing your lungs any good breathing in all that dust. Set a good example and wear good quality masks and look after yourselves.
Happy birthday Andi and I hope you have another successful year. Don’t let your only friend from Scotland lead you astray. He has his passport looked out and is on his way to New Eng Land. Wish him a Happy, Wife Free, Year from his old man.

We were talking about that and I thing we’ve got to do it even as you say it’s just for show
coming along nicely

👍👍👍😎😎😎
The dashboard looks particularly smart already which seems odd, - is there a reason for that?
Nope 🤷🏻

Where did you get the body from?
