Peter needs to come back. I don’t think I can watch again without him. He is so entertaining and the show won’t be the same without him.
Yes the last few episodes I missed him😢 but i I’ll tone in next season to see how the show is. But yes his character was honestly my favorite and him and Catharine together were what made the show
He might still speak to Elizabeth
@@LordLoss92 yea but I’m not a fan of the ghost thing. But most likely they’ll probably do that
I hope to god they see how mad we are and rewrite the show to where it was just snow hallucinations
@@zoeinez5061 I’d take that. I saw on online the show is written for 6 seasons. I won’t watch 3 more seasons without a Peter. 🤷🏽♀️
I honestly wish I knew what Peter was going to say, he looked like he was possibly changing his mind...so sad 😭 I honestly felt in denial for the rest for the season....it really felt off once he was gone 😢 it feels so unfair for Paul to not have a dad who cared so much for him 😫 i really love this show but really cant imagine how it will be without Peter moving forward......
lol it won't move forward, ratings will drop because the main male cast died, in movies and tv shows you get one male main and one male female almost always the case, if one of them dies before it's finished the rest is pointlesss. The very least they should bring him back as a ghost like Peter's father came back. Then they could continue season 4. Afterall it's occasionally a true story, means they can make things up.
I personally would have had his death staged, and live out the rest of his life in solitude with his son sneaking out to meet with him until the day he truly died of old age and the same with catherine, but I don't know the history so I don't know what happened, just know that it's not 100% facts, so why not keep the cast in until the end of the series.
same, to this day I'm saying to myself that we never actually saw his body so he can still come back
@@7kraska Actually we did see his body, through the eyes of his auntie who swam down to retrieve him, said she would rather leave him there as he looked so peaceful.
I don't think the show needs to be continued any further. I see it as a trilogy with a satisfying ending, Catherine becoming her own individual with a strong will and competent leadership. Her journey was essentially a coming of age story. Elle Fanning's performance in the last few episodes was spectacular. The way she switched between comedic mania and tragic grief was mesmerising to watch. Both Elle and Nicholas deserve emmy nominations and I hope Elle wins this year
I was in complete denial after he drowned and spedrun the rest of the episodes to know if he really died😭😭
I was just spoiled on it, and I was like "No, it had to be Peter's double that died, not him."
I mean since he is a historical character we knew he would die eventually
Same, I fast forward all of the episodes just to know if peter lived.
Literally said aloud “oh my god they’re gonna kill him” and my wife AND I totally dismissed my utterance as momentary insanity 😂 I’m still struggling to accept it!
I fell in love with this series because of Peter’s unique and amazing dynamic with Catherine. Even then, I’ve made peace with the possibility that he could die in the show, long before season 3 happened. What I couldn’t stomach though, was *how* he was killed off this season. It’s just so cruel and disrespectful towards his character. He was in the middle of making things work between him and his wife. We had just seen his character development in season 2. Killing him off like that just makes a lot of those things that happened in the previous seasons pointless. Why would the show spend so much time exploring this character’s humanity, his flaws and vulnerability, if he’s just gonna be disposed off so carelessly, anyway?
Same sentiments. It seems rushed and very unthought of dont you think
@@maycee4888 it’s either that, or the writers just thought it’d be funny to mess with people. And from what I’ve read in an interview with McNamara, it seems like the latter is more likely. He apparently considered having Catherine be the one to kill him but decided against it because “that's what everyone will think we will do” and “life's so f---ing stupid and random that of course it's much more likely something dumb would kill him.”
🤡 They literally killed Peter for shock value and I will forever be bitter about it.
@@rozannishbelgonzaga8564 i read some articles that Nicolas Hoult have been missing a lot of big roles because of his contract with the Great so I thought that was the reason he was killed off that way,
Well obviously Peter had to die for it to accurately reflect history, so it wasn't pointless. In real life people develop and grow and change just like Peter did, only to die in a terrible and cruel way. If Peter and Catherine were to live happily ever after with Paul we wouldn't get a 4th season. It would have been a more satisfying and certainly happier ending, but it wouldn't have the realness and brutality we love so much about this show. It needed to be done, for historical accuracy, and to keep the show realistic. And I hardly think it's "disrespectful", for Peter to be killed in such a hilarious and tragic way, I think it's a good reflection of his character and better than him going on to die in a bloody Swedish war. I cried like crazy and wish they hadn't killed him and idk if the show will even be good without him, but ig we'll see. This show is about real history (kind of) so not everything is going to be sunshine and rainbows and if you want a show like that, don't watch The Great.
@@kyliebolding1875so well said!! fully agree, no matter how sad it was that they killed him off. i like the show more for being realistic in the way some go. not heroically, but randomly.
Personally I will keep watching the show and am looking forward to the next season. I was heartbroken after Peters death. (I honestly cried for about 10 minutes after lol) but after finishing the season and seeing Catherine really blossom into a strong focused leader I’m excited to see how her character develops and grows in the seasons coming up. The last scene of her dancing felt really empowering to me!
Glad to hear I wasn’t the only 1 who cried😭
They killed Leo and it was devastating. Then they give us Peter and kill him off, even more devastating. I can't anymore this show is killing me.
I successfully saw this episode before hearing about it! Nicholas is such an incredible actor! I mean, all of them are, but after he died and we kept watching Pugachev, I had to remind myself that was seriously the same actor! Those are some skills!
I can’t question the creator because he has been BRILLIANT, but it can’t be just her. Peter was as big a character as Catherine. They were an equal and opposite force and without one, it doesn’t work. I think in season 1 when everyone knew historically that Peter dies, we were okay with it. But then you have the brilliance of Nicholas Hoult and the evolution of the character and just the way these two actor play off of each other to deliver such unbelievable performances… Aside from Archie being an antagonist for season 4, what else can fill the void of Pete’s character? Cause I found myself fast-forwarding alot on the last episodes following Peter’s death. Compare to what was going on with Catherine and her grief, the other stuff didn’t matter to me.
Same
100 percent. Honestly I couldn't watch the rest of the season without Peter... I really couldn't.
Thank you for understanding my words. I feel the same way, and even though Elle is one of the best actresses I've ever seen in my life, honestly, "The Great" doesn't work without Nicholas. I finished season 3, but it was too hard for me to watch the remaining episodes after Peter's death 💔
I think this might be the last season. It was a struggle watching the rest of the episodes without Peter, and I dont see many fans still watching season 4 if therell be one.
I skimmed the last episodes too. If they do a season 4 I really hope they bring him back as a ghost or something like they did Peter the great. I would potentially watch it if they did that
just got to episode 6 and have watched the scene of peter’s death and i feel like i can’t even continue to watch the last 4 episodes of the season! 😭 i seriously paused the episode right after that scene because i couldn’t continue on. i can’t imagine another season without peter but i must keep watching 🫡
Literally same. All of my anticipation for season 3 was because of Peter and Catherine’s relationship. Now that he’s gone I don’t see the point in finishing the season
I stopped after that episode and have no drive to finish
Same
Without Peter the show will no be as great as it was. I don't think I will be interested in another season.😢
not interested to watch season 4
@Me, Khim and You open y’all’s minds this is a great change for the show seasons to come will be great like the title implies
Yea I didn't finish the season after he died and I'm not interested in a season 4 if Peter isn't in it.
I am! Can't wait to see what's next for Catherine!
I’m sad that Peter died but I agree with why he had to. It’s like Elle said, both Peter and Catherine were holding each other back so his death got her to be the leader so needed to be for Russia. I love the show but I think it ended on a good note with season 3 so, if there was a season 4, I would watch it (the writing is brilliant after all), but I don’t think I’d be as excited to see it and that’s not just because of Peter’s death but because the finale was satisfying.
Fantastic, underrated show. The set and costume design are incredible. How well they can shift between comedy and drama is almost hard to fathom. If they end it here or continue the show, they’ll have done a great job either way.
I couldn’t even finish the episode..fell in love with series..and unfortunately without him there’s no reason to watch…so sad I loved the show…I know she was the main character but he was the soul of the show!!!!
I want another season, and a character that is a strong intellectual foil for her.
I love this show so much and would LOVE a season 4 where we get to see Catherine grow and shine as a stand alone empress.
Elle Fanning is more than capable of holding this show for a Season 4. The cast is brilliant. The loss of Peter was definitely difficult to grasp as a viewer but it had to happen so that Catherine could grow and be the leader she was meant to be. The end of the last episode made me so excited for what's to come.
She’s talented , but their relationship is the center of the show. Peter was the best part of the show
You really think that Peter' s character could be replaced for someone else?
Very weird decision but okay. I’ve now realized I’m watching this show for their love story. Without it, there’s no incentive to continue with this show. Sucks.
100 percent the same!!!! It's what gives this otherwise dark show, yes I understand it's dark comedy but it's still dark none the less balance and light.
When peter died the series died along with him
I just watched it! IT IS FUCKING TRULY GREAT!!! Its so rare for a show to get better and better but this third season is fucking brilliant ... the script is one of the bests ever ... fucking fantastic!!!! The story line, the dialogue, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the writers truly inspired ... poetry in motion ... Im always a fan of great dialog (the no 1 thing for a good show for me) and this third season did not fucking disappoint me!!! Extremely fucking well done...
Peter needs to come back if season 4 comes out without peter the show will not be the same as it was
Yes he needs to have somehow found a way to survive! Bc most likely I don’t think this show will survive past season 4
Season 3 was the last season
@BirdTea if it was then it was sad just like westworld season 4 finale
@@naika7 oh really?
@@naika7 just google it nothing saying the series is over
This episode broke me.
Love Elle! She got me into the show and I’ve been obsessed with it
Love the "needle drops"
Loved loved loved this series ! Fab actors all. Wouldn’t expect anything less brilliant in these Aussies Brits and Americans especially ! Would be fun to have Helen Miren have a cameo role as she played a more factual Catherine the Great . I could just see her dancing with Elle!! Nice to have a handsome Peter too!
Probably one the best funniest dramatic romantic show i ever seen … HAAZZAAAHH
Historical fact of interest - the real Catherine the Great was born on 2 May 1729 according to the internet, maybe the cast could concoct a cameo birthday party on 2 May 2024, for her 295 birthday, could be some Great content? Keeping Peter. Flashbacks to Peter in season 4? Or a spirit Peter with Catherine getting into science with astronomy and mixing it into the woo with channelling, psychic dreams, a tasteful set of Tarot Cards, and some astrology. Maybe Peter, not the current incarnation, but from one of his previous lives could be Catherine's spirit guide?
They should have just ended the show at season 3 instead of deciding to cancel it later. Archie should have been confirmed well and truly dead and her dancing at the end all we need to know about how awesome the rest of her reign would be. The only thing that ruined it was Archie being dug up, otherwise it was the perfect completion to one of the most amazing series I’ve ever watched.
I felt that she already stepped into her greatness.
To me this series was always about Catherine AND Peter and their relationship. I understand, there might have been personal reasons behind the decision of killing Peter off. Perhaps Nicholas had other commitments as his carrier seems to be moving upwards I do not know. The bottom-line is, regardless how brilliant Catherine and Elle is, without Peter I feel I have lost half my beloved show so it can only be half the fun from now on with a potential 4th season. Hats off to a great third The Great season and to a brilliant and spectacularly original, uniquely funny series overall.
Awesome show. It's gonna be hard to keep the show going without Peter. Curious to see what they'll do for season 4
Definitely going to lose alot of viewers after killing of peter
Elle Fanning is so elegant and beautiful to look at, Pitty charming Pete died but I wouldn’t mind if they continue the season for Catherine and to see her window Queen life 💖♥️💖👑
This show is as great as the title advertises. I also think that three seasons of this show is enough and a good place to stop. Maybe this series could be continued in about twenty years, when Elle Fanning has a lull in her career. I think that the middle aged Catherine would be the most fascinating Catherine. Sentencing actors to toiling away at the same character for a decade just seems like a cruelty. But then again Huzzah. This show is all about cruelty. Long live the empress!
so sad nicolas hoult left the show :(
This mostly the best ever I really think it's interesting 🤔💬 it's really unbelievable and fantastic and I really enjoyed it alot very amazing ever nice
They just ruined the show. Disappointed
@@mishelkamal8214 yeah definitely me too bro
"they were holding each other back " okay they could've fixed it without killing him for fucks sake im so sick of this show
I just watched the episode. Oh why, oh why they had to kill him. It makes no sense. Entire cast is great, but he and her are the essence of the show. It makes no sense. I have no idea how I will continue to watch it now. -.-
There really should be a spoiler alert on this post. You certainly ruined it for me!
Yeah, I'm not watching the show anymore. There's no point in having it without peter.
Yes, there is to see Catherine. In real life, peter died, and so on the show he should die as well. I think this is gonna be a great change for her reign because she is no longer restricted by Peter. She can now do whatever she wants without his input.
@@100anneray7 Who tf cares about reign, without peter's jokes. That was the show, the japes..
peter the wonder!
Holy spoiler alert Batman!!
Killing Peter was a really bad decision that ruined the show. Season 3 was the worst season. I had such a hard time finishing it because it was so boring. After Peter died, the characters just meandered and did nothing in really nice costumes. It was so tedious and directionless. It's sad because I really liked seasons 1 and 2 and was so excited for season 3, but the writers totally destroyed this show and killed off the most likable character who is just as important to the show as Catherine. At least if you're going to kill off a main character, do it well and respectfully but Peter suddenly dropping in the ice out of nowhere while Catherine laid down was terrible writing. I think ChatGPT would have done a better job writing the scripts for Season 3, seriously.
Jeez, spoiler alert. Thanks for telling me the major twists in the show.
Why did you click on the video then? Says it's a twist? You seem quite stupid for that.
same, i was about ready to start watching season 3. I clicked on the video because i thought it was just a short interview of what to expect perhaps or their acting journey in the series. I didn't expect them to just straight up tell me all the major events😃
The title literally says they talk about the big twist in episode 6. If you were intending you watch the show without any spoilers, you were very dumb to have clicked on this video. Take responsibility for your dumbness.
I haven't watch this series but it seem fantastic😍Are there any hopes he will return back in season 4? Maybe as a gost or something like this? I hope so, because I want to watch the series but I also want a happy ending😢
I read that there aren't going to be anymore seasons. Hulu decided to end it.
@@lynnharts77 I've heard of it, too. Thank you🥰
After he dies i lost any desire to watch the show :( just saw the very end to hope that naybe he will revive or what aha .. :(
I really thought Elle was a British actress. She does the accent so well but I'm also American so perhaps one would have to be British to decide how well she does it.
No she is very good ❤
Yes I will miss Peter, truly... but what about WHAT ABOUT ORLOV?
Даешь 4 сезон, с воскрешением Петра.Хузза!🥂🍾
To be honest seasons 1 and 2 were brilliant, 3 just got stupid, it was like they just needed to finish it, but weren't sure how. Think it did run it's course, because some of the characters were just starting to become a bit irritating, repeating themselves. Still very well acted though, great actors all of them, but needed a good script and it just seemed to be sadly lacking in this one, but all good things have to come to an end. I was thinking honestly near the end, just finish it now, and it was fair enough how they did it. Just my opinion.
I want him backkk😢
I hated it. I rushed through episodes 7 to 10 because that was brutal. They were finally becoming whole. Couldnt he have died in battle? Or maybe...maybe he has gone into hiding. Nope he aint dead.
Ngl I stopped watching right after he died and I don’t plan to finish it. I literally cannot emotionally handle it
Exacto!!
We can all agree that the show ended with Peter's death...
I cant stand that Peter is gone its the love story that kept me watching…
I totally couldn't take it. Like it felt so unreal. I hope he comes back in the next season? It just doesn't feel the same without Peter anymore. But I'm still looking forward to another season.
It's gone..fk
Thank you, i will just no longer continue the series , for me when peter died so did the series
I stopped watching the show after that scene. Really? Peter would have tried to swim up and get out! Survival instinct- so would the horse. Up until then I loved the show. So funny and well done.
Yup. I’m not finishing the season
SPOILER!!
Do not watch this unless you’ve seen season 3, episode 6!
I think he will be playing his son on season 4😂 Paul the great
It should have been the end episode, now most of us don't want to watch it without Catherine and Peter together with their shenanigans. There's no way there is going to be a season 4 not without Peter sorry, you must be tripping most of us will not watch it anymore. I used to binge watch season 1 and 2, now i stopped on episode 6 of seaosn 3 lame..
Stopped watching after he died
I stopped at s3 ep 6. I don't want s4, I can't even watch the rest of s3 after 6th episode. No. The show lost its magic to me.
I've stopped watching right after. Season 3 didnt feel right from the start anyway. If there is a season 4, i'd watch it for potential Grigor Catherine story, because that also happened irl.
I’ll not continue this show without Peter …. No way …. That’s it
I shouldn't have watched this. 😶
the show just got ruined
So your telling me Peter in real life not the actor but in the real life history he couldn't swim?
His foot was still in the stirrup and he was taken down quickly with the horse. Not to mention the weight of clothes on him and the shock of the freezing water.
@@sunshine_pond7951 but this show is an occasionally true story, and that never happened in real life history, so why end it mid season like that? lol oh actually adrenaline pumps through the body in freezing water, that gives you surreal strength.
Plus he always carries knives on him, he could of cut himself loose and swim up, and Catherine would have been in some shock to see him alive later that day.
Ruined the show. Disappointed
I just have one question - do they really I understand that the history they have shown is not the history indeed? In reality many the facts were different and series are far away from the reality.
