Thanks for the comments, and I am glad you liked it.
I belief there is more blade thinness on the Zancudo. The same is true of handle thinness. Yes, the Zancudo jimping sucks, but, like you, I prefer the Zancudo blade shape. Bottom line, I own both, love both. 💕💕
I loved the rat 2 with the exception of when I had to pierce through some packaging. The raised blade made it a little weird. I'm in the market now for a zancudo.
Can’t lose with either one; both are great values.
Spot on on the action; Rat is smooth, Zancudo is stiff. I prefer the Rat 2 overall. Handle is more comfortable, better balance. Without a thumb ramp the Zancudo just does not feel right to me. Similar knives for similar price, but different.
I have both, prefer the RAT hands down. Biggest issue is the exposed metal on the BRK Zancudo. Fine for "gentleman" carry. With sweaty or bloody hands it's slick. Also finding the exposed metal problematic with cold conditions. Can't use a gloved hand on a small folder. Slips around on my pocket too. Lock strength? The RAT is more than sufficient for any chores befitting a folder. The action on the RAT is much smoother... at least on mine. BTW, nice touch on the side by side stats. I like it.
I have a Rat II and after watching this video, if I ever need to replace it is going to be with another Rat II.
Cool, glad it helped you!
You can get these in d2 as well
I remember the Zancudo being vaporware for the longest time. I really wish they found a US maker for their knives. Hopefully that they'll come out with a US made version and one that is more the Rat 1 size
Your wish came half true. Check out the new Avispa at Knifeworks.com. It's still Taiwan made just like the Zancudo, but it is a Rat 1 sized version.
Zancudo can be had in D2 steel.
David Maudlin so can rat 1 & 2
You mention that the Zancudo has brass bushings. Mine has nylon bushings, is that nor normal?
Also, the Zancudo's shorter thumbstud is made that way because that side of the handle is shorter.
Agreed. Love my Zancudo!
How are they both 7 inches?
Great vid brother!
Thanks!
Thanks ! (You saved me 30 bucks - I'll stick with my RAT's)
Elwin Ransom Glad I could help. That's what this channel is all about!
Great video, these were the two folders I was debating to get and I'm going with the esee. Thanks, like the slogan.
Romeras600 Thanks a lot!
I totally agree.
great job dude! just bought both based on your review
Glad to here it, hope you enjoy it!
After using both for a good amount of time, do you have a preference, Michael?
A GOOD year !
I have the Rat2 truly an enjoyable knife....
looking for same or similar in a flipper, the Kershaw Skyline G10 does not quite do it.... any suggestion.
the action of a Cyro, but an ounce less in weight with the 2.75-3 inch blade $30 price point.
I've been looking for this as well. The Buck Vantage seemed like a decent choice at first but the size of the Vantage isn't quite right (small is too small and large is too large). I like the looks of the Kizer Gemini. The size and weight are good, but it's a little spendier than the Rat2. However, for that extra money, you get a VG-10 blade and a flipper with a bearing pivot, so I may be pulling the trigger on one soon.
+asmitty952 have yet to purchase, did not like the Buck Vantage in hand (local store had in stock), seriously considering the CKRT Ripple2.
Another knife been looking at is the Kershaw Filter, has a slightly longer blade (3.25) but appears to have a good finger choil and thumb ramp similar to Rat2, speed assist for about $20, worth a look. (just wished was 2.7-3).
+Yogi Lilly CRKT Ripple might be a decent choice. All metal handles are usually a turn off for me in a knife as they almost always are more slick and weigh more.
It would have been nice if they had the rat blade on the zancudo
Finger grooves in handles are not finger choils.
Can't find the Zancudo @ Esee's site?
The Zancudo was designed by ESEE but is produced by Blue Ridge Knives. They are available at either www.bladehq.com or www.knifeworks.com
Ok tnx
Did you say female girl?
rat 2 for life
I think your measurements are wrong. The rat defiantly looks longer overall than the Zancudo.
PoorMan94 yea definately, going off his own measurements the zancudo is 6.95 the rat is 7.1 but my maths is shit and I'm tired 😁
Finger groove =/= choil. Just sayin'
My rat is hard to deploy wtf?
I got a garbage rat too. I took it apart and cleaned the bushings which were full of metal particulates and lubricated it but it still requires more force to open than any knife I own. I tried adjusting the tension on the pivot screw but to get it to deploy smoothly there's so much blade play it renders the knife unusable.
