I am not English speaking so I had to look it up... And google says it is used in the Bible and in Shakespeare and means something like: Feel sorry for me (= woe is me), but in an overdramatic way...

@@riduanaqil1452 basically means that the person this song is about played the victim card despite obviously being guilty of cheating, so when they stop playing the victim card, everyone will realize they were in the wrong
I'm half expecting Hannah to cry during Set Me Free, it's so emotional and powerful
so this video is actually really cool for the budget joshua had to deal with. he only had a limited amount of money to film all three music videos so they are all one takes. when joshua is with that band it resembles basically his cast mates knowing what’s happening but won’t necessarily acknowledge it and treat him differently(none of the band mates are looking at him resembling the drama happening while filming his show) and the flashing lights when he confronts that girl resembles that public relationship being in the spotlight and how he had to deal with it alone(flashing like paparazzi lights and he is in a almost shock when the blonde girl leaves, making it too much for him to handle). the video is very simple but really tells this story and his experience very well

What I noticed is that there’s literally no furniture in the house, which could mean that the relationship never had a future/never had a home (if that makes sense).
And one time in the background you can see the girl following someone in a room, which I guess refers to her cheating/not being serious/leading him on?

I recently went through a big thing with someone I thought was my best friend. All of Joshua’s songs have helped so much as they are SO RELATABLE. Literally every stage I went through there was a song.

Before you listen to Set Me Free I would recommend reading his GQ article it explains the meaning of the song and it makes the song more heart wrenching.
This is the first time I've seen the music video and watching him search for them and us barley seeing them is so aesthetically pleasing to me

a big reason these music videos are so low key is that they were all taken in one take! there were no cuts at all in any of the mvs, cause josh didn’t have the budget for 3 full-fledged MVs with all of the funds from this EP that are going to charity, so he decided on doing them all in one take so it had the best effect possible

i'm so excited for set me free cause it's honestly one of the prettiest songs i've ever heard
I think the biggest problem in this situation is the "fans", if we can call the people who death threatened him fans. Songs can indeed be inspired by real facts, but it's needed to understand that some things will only be there to rhyme or because the creative process took you to a level that can be way above reality, in other words, not everything in the lyrics really happened. The time that things happened made the dating speculation take on other proportions and I didn't think it was cool that Liv didn't speak up when the whole media was chasing him. In the end, I'm just here for the good music and the great artists that the two of them have already proven themselves to be 🤍
