- In this video, I describe a simple method of making a pattern for a lapstrake or clinker boat plank.
The boat I am building is the wonderful Fiddlehead double paddle canoe, designed by Harry Bryan.
The video is an excerpt from the online boatbuilding course "Building the Fiddlehead Canoe" I am currently teaching at Small Boat School.
The course is open for registration at www.smallboatschool.com

These videos are exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you so much for putting together such detailed explanations, and for the clarity and simplicity of those explanations. I actually feel like I understand what is happening! :) You have made a really great set of boat-building videos - they will be of enormous value to many people for many years to come! Please continue!
Thanks a lot, Patrick! If you're interested in a lot more of this, I'm just about to open up for a small group of test pilot students for the full Building the Fiddlehead Canoe course. I will hold a webinar about it this Sunday. You can register for the webinar here: www.smallboatschool.com/pl/2147619531
Great, I'm starting model boat building, and the planks need to be trimmed by spiling, that was me stuck!
Very nice explanation. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
