Nice work on using what you already have.
I suggest that you take two 2x4"s cut to length enough to match the new width of the welder/plasma cutter.
Attached them to the bottom of the welding cart with the casters, or new casters, to keep the center of gravity that is now higher up, from increasing the tip over potential.
Just an observation.
The cart seems to be ok. Thanks Ken, you never can trust this stuff from Harbor Freight LOLOL.
@@SirTools Right. I always seem to overbuild my mobile carts 😂
@@kenluning909 My other cart has a bandsaw bolted to it :)
I have the same cheap Harbor Freight Welding Cart and I put both of my gasless flux welders on the top shelf side by side by adding an extra shelf mounted to and above the top shelf. And then found out that in all actuality that cart is awful weak in strength and has a tendency to bend the side front supporting strut uprights and then lean sideways because the uprights are mounted to the bottom shelf and the bottom shelf is not welded upon the corners and is nothing more than thin sheet metal and will bend outward as well as try to tip the cart over when moved because of the weight being on the top shelf and the front swivel castors being set to close to each other. So I had to make an extra framework out of 1 inch square tube between the original top shelf and the bottom shelf to beef it up and then make added length extensions out of angle iron and bolt them upon the bottom and then move the front swivel casters to the outside of the bottom shelf and set at the same width apart as the rear wheels to stop it from trying to tip over when moved. I also added a pull handle in front of the top shelf made out of ½ inch tubular steel. With those modifications I made it is now a much more sturdier cart. and does not have a tendency to lean sidewys and try to tip over when being moved. No the cart is not bad for the cheap price you pay for it. But it does need to be beefed up with modifications before use in order to make it sturdier. My next modification to that Cart is to add an additional shelf at the rear of the original top shelf to add a plasma cutter on it facing sideways because I don't do MIG or TIG welding and therefore I have no need for mounting a bottle of gass in that spot where the gas bottle normally goes. Anyway, thanks for a great DIY Video.
You hit the nail on the cart. Just got the new Vevor cart in and it is wider, but similar build.
You could put hooks on back of the cart.
I was thinking about that because I do not have the bottle back there.
You might be able to get one of those 1/3rd circle garden hose wall mounts and attach that to the side to coil the cables on for the plasma cutter they are inexpensive.
Yard sale item maybe...old hose storage etc..yeah...not a bad idea
Hmmmmm? sounds like an idea worth pursuing. Thanks for the DIY tip there fella.
I'm totally jealous I need a space to start metal working right now I have a 97% wood shop. Not ideal for sparks lol.
Wood cost too much now...heavy metal is cheaper LOLOL....yeah, that was bad LOLOL.
Weld it, bolt it, screw it together… ta da! It works. The plasma cutter does look like fun. I see a lot of old washer and dryers on Craigslist and stuff, is that metal something that you can cut with this or is the gauge to thin? With practice could you cut out shapes with any degree of precision… thinking more artwork than parts? Thank for sharing.
from sheet metal to thick, it's kind of fun to just push a button and cut away.
Hmmmmm ? ? ? Now You just gave me another possible DIY plan. I need a small welding table. My daughter who lives next door has a couple of broken down appliances sitting out in her yard of which she has never gotten around to hauling off to the local landfill. One is an Electric Range, One is a Washing Machine, and another is a clothes Dryer.. Now you have got me to wondering if I can cut them up and use the metal sides for making a welding table. by adding metal legs from a few broken down kitchen tables I'm scrapping out. Thanks for the idea there fella.
As narrow as the cart is… would it make sense to hang the cords & hoses on the other side for balance? Just wondering…
If it's stupid but it works LOLOL ha ha ha..
Yeah
How about using an empty spool from your 3d printer filaments? Attach to the side, or maybe use 2 in a line so the loop isn't so tight.
mmm....that could work, but cut the spools in half and mount them spaced out etc for the long hoses....mm...WOW...could be a VERY good idea !
@@SirTools I wont cash that million dollar check right away ROFLMAO
@@SirTools oh and also you shouldn't even have to cut them in half if you space them out to run the hose/cable around both....save a step :)
@@StumblingBumblingIdiot Could make this happen mmm...
