In Sonic X characters curse quite a few times actually, at least in the jp version. Sonic also sometimes says words and small phrases in english. The clip of Sonic saying, in plain english, "shit" from the second episode has been burned into my brain since I was a tween.

This makes it seem like the Sonic games are just one whole movie production type deal and the cast are all friends and mess with each other on and off the set. Kind of like how the avengers are when you see what they do when they arent getting dusted or trying to pick up Thor's hammer.
