I absolutely can't believe how this video can have so many positive comments. This is no restoration...it's just destruction. Does no one here has at least any sense of how a restoration should look like? First..the car was prepared to look like this. I mean how is it even possible that those plastic bumpers on this facelift E30 could have any rust? By the lines on the door you can even see that there was some acid on the car to make it rust faster. Then you can see how he just puts filler on those rusty doors. This will last for about a year before the filler will crack up again. Repairing the engine like this is a complete mess. he dissasembles the engine and didn't take any note which of the bearing shells, pistons, etc. belong to which cylinder. This wouldn't be bad if all the parts would have been completely restored. But he just smashed the old pieces in again in any order. There are many little differences in radius etc. over time for each cylinder. After rebuilding the engine like this i'm pretty sure it won't last longer than a few kilometres/miles before the engine will blow up. At least..all sealing surfaces has been painted and all the correct seals are missing. This thing will leak oil, exhausts and every other possible liquid like hell. Sorry, but this video is a bad joke. Please realize that.

@@chasermalloy7406 a proper mechanic could still technically recover it, it'd just have to be completely rebuilt with actual after-market gaskets, torque wrenches, and tolerancing/balancing equipment.
...and the result is... where? Disassemble engine without replacing anything? Maybe it's an option. Its an E30 series chassis. The M10 engine is slightly different, it still uses weber double barrel carbs but the engine cover a bit high with no BMW embossed letter. It could be late 70's model but the front and rear bumper facelifted to 80's model, that usually uses the M40 engine. But, They really skillful and really know how and what to do. Even using only common tools. It's a two-thumbs up thingy.
he used no tolerancing on the crankshaft or balancing, it'll run like shit even if he manages to finish, and the head gasket will last till the end of the driveway, cough, cough, excuse me, dirtway
I liked the video, these guys took their time to clean and paint up, should have changed rings/bearings and gaskets and used a torque wrench atleast... Although the most alarming thing is this engine isn't the M10 318i engine that suppose to have come with the car, it's rather a retrofitted or swapped Toyota 3Y engine block with 4Y cylinder head with OHV instead of the BMW OHC... But nevertheless, was worth the time they have given for the video... 👍
@@haydenstewart3584 I'm at a loss for words. Fair enough I'm old lol, but when I was this kid's age I didn't perceive 1964 as 1944. If anything, there have been less groundbreaking technological leaps between 1991 and 2021 compared to 1961-1991. not even if he didn't decarbonate the pistons since they didn't change, he didn't adjust the cylinder head valves, there's one of them about 15 centimeters away from the correct place
It's amazing how well you did with that old 3 series, it was a real pile of scrap , in fact it was such a transformation you turned it into a 5 series 😉

The description says it was a full restoration, but after I lost 40 minutes of my weekend, they show a brief message saying that due lack of spare parts , they were unable to finnish the project. And the car is not 50 years old, it is about 40 years at most.
Yeah man they did not even replace the oil filter or torque the block correctly. They also put some playdough in for gaskets. This engine will blow up in ten seconds

Everyone focusing on the year and completely ignoring that dudes in flip flops are rebuilding a whole ass euro car
Yes it doesn't matter about what year the car is,it's the work they put in.That would be way too much for me I'm half way through and assume it will be like new at the end.
@@EIKLURAM comment vou l avais recupere la bmw elle etai a vous ou pas vous avai reson de la restaure cest mieux que elle pourie la bmw bien renover elle peut redemare sans probleme
They're not rebuilding anything. They're making a mess of everything. The car is dead. It will never be on the road again. They've wrecked the engine anyway with what they did. I learned something though - BMW E30s have old 4 cylinder pushrod engines over there. Who knew ?
@@EIKLURAM They won't put any real work in at all. This is just nonsense - pulling bits apart and painting them. Just nonsense videos to get stupid people to send them money.
But it's just some little cylinder pushrod engine - not even a BMW engine at all.
Restoring a car wearing flip flops. Now that's impressive

When people tell you they can't finish a project because they don't have the tools... show them this video. Unreal.

and the gearbox is not from an e30
Gotta admit, I'm more interested in the time machine tech he used to travel back twenty years from 2041.
Ah yes, a 50 year old car, as he pulls out a cd from the back seat. 😂 Pretty sure they didn't have cds 50 years ago.

@@haydenstewart3584 I'm at a loss for words. Fair enough I'm old lol, but when I was this kid's age I didn't perceive 1964 as 1944. If anything, there have been less groundbreaking technological leaps between 1991 and 2021 compared to 1961-1991. Therefore one would naturally assume the passage of time would be perceived as more recent, rather than further away - chronologically speaking.

I like this restoration❤️
so you guys just put paint on some stuff and then use the same old stuff back in the engine, old main bearings, old head gasket, same crusty cluch even the same o2 sensors.
Nothing but click bate they could be honest in the title of the video but they don't give a crap about wasting anyone's time at all.🤷♂️👍✌
