Extreme roadbike descent on a 2000 vintage bike - Bianchi SL Lite alloy Reparto Corse. You can see it on link bellow: www.flickr.com/photos/whitelan...
you call that around 00:57 a good view? I call that overtaking before a turn with 0 sight and being lucky that no sports car or motorcycle is on its way up....
Yes, i think that is a good view and enough distance. He could see ahead to the bend and had merged back well before he got to that point. Note that even through that bend the center line was skip-dashed, passing was allowed. When he gets to actual blind corner, the line becomes solid 1:24. We can disagree, but calling that "0 sight" is a pretty ridiculous exaggeration and not terribly useful.
Of course it is unsafe. One slip, one unexpected piece of oncoming traffic round a bend, is enough to not only kill him but also cause a serious incident with the traffic around him. And by the way, if you do something that has risks, that you don't have to do, it also means you are being unnecessarily reckless.
mikeflemming711 yeah they don't only go up the montain at crazy speeds they also come down, extremely fast. I once was cresting the top a climb and got passed by a pro cyclist. I suppose he went for a cofee and little talk because when i got to the top he was leaving. So we come down at same time but as soon as corners appeared he started gapping me soon enough i coudn't see him no more lol
mikeflemming711 btw this is actually something i'd like to do, record a descent of mine and then share to see what mistakes i can fix. I believe i can improve a lot of my technique.
Mark L-N hear this. i was driving a friends daytona 675 triple... then in a course like this in rhodes greece i am with knee down 90km/h and a road bike passes me from the OUTSIDE. after 2-3 kms in a light we talked to the guy and he was the greek champion... he was folling us steady at 80km/h on a 50km distance...
Indeed, it looks like the cars were traveling at a reasonably safe speed (perhaps the legally posted limit?) and the one about 3/5ths of the way through slowed down and pulled over slightly to allow the unsafe cyclist to pass. Tip of the hat to the motorists for making the best of the situation. As we say around here on our roads when cyclists go flying past other cyclists and cars: you only won the race because nobody else was in it.
Too dangerous. I've gotten my road bike up to 47 mph, but I will not do it again. 86kph=53 mph. If a car pulls out it is all over for you. All it takes is a squirrel running out into the road or going over a small stone and you lose control at those speeds.
that's what makes it so addicting. you know you could wipe out at any minute, and even die if taken too far. that's what makes it worth it, you're not just pushing your foot down on a pedal or two, you're moving your whole body, your body motion is what controls you, and allows you to flow so smoothly down that hill
I've just watched it again. Dude, that level of skill is amazing. Inspiring stuff but something I would never do myself. Just watching them fingers work their magic on the brakes was somethin. Be safe man and upload some more videos.
Quite nice. Did this so many times. On paved roads (~70-80 km/h, no luggage) overtaking cars, on unpaved dirt tracks (~30km/h, about 30kg of luggage, any faster would have been potentially lethal) overtaking buses (hardly any car there). Also, in the pouring rain with about 70km/h between the cars (no luggage, paved road). All fun and such, just keep in mind helmets are tested to protect you from falling when standing still. Not when riding and definitely not for riding these speeds. (I usually don't wear a helmet at all, unless mountain biking or with clipless pedals and shoes.)
i used to love doing things like this on my commute home from work, cycling down parbold hill and being able to overtake cars. was never strong enough to overtake them on the ascent though
Overtook a car just last week, in France. Montagne de Lure; up on the twisty side, down the other side on tarmac-heaven. The driver was of the rare understanding and co-operative type - he indicated right and slowed down a bit. :-) Speeds like yours are a thing of my past, I rarely do more than 65 kph nowadays. In '99, I did 92 kph on the newer St. Gotthard. I remember it vividly - wouldn't go near that now. I was only barely in control anymore.
Hey fellow cyclist! Nice video and seems like a nice place to ride! Just wondering how and where and what did you use to mount your GoPro? I had really shaky footage when i was going only around 60 - 65 km/h! Thanks!

Zoltán Pósfai actually very risky situation, even the smallest crack on the road a a little pebble could rwsult in a fatal accident, he had to be in cintrol every second, and hope that no external factors played a bad roll on the descent. Pretty extreme if you ask me
Fuck yes, that looks awesome. Here you are driving along at 35-45 mph and a fucking bike passes you. "What ever was that speeding object Charles?" "Why I do believe it was a bicycle, clorice my dear."
@MrWhitelander I noice you have the same brake lever as I do but how do you install them. I tried to but the lever keeps shifting out of place because the clamp it's small enough to hold itself in place.
Do not underestimate a good road bike. Road bikes are designed with two goals in mind - maximum speed and maximum grip to control the speed. the entire frame and fork geometry, including rider's position is made to get as much grip as possible. using a set proper of tyres selected according to weather and road conditions, and high grade, high quality model tyres pumped to the proper pressure can give you fantastic grip with the road.

Caaraazyy...great bike handling...don’t know how you sit on your seat with those big balls...I mean that with all the respect and envy in the world...I’ve gotten up to 45 mph going downhill but when I felt the gravity or whatever you call it going around a curve it hit me that I had no business going that speed...hahaha...
When you look at this video you think: No, this is stupid, it's dangerous, I wouldn't risk it But then you come to a descent and you go at a comfortable pace, and you push it a little bit more, and a little bit more, and a little, and a little, and suddenly you're going 70-90 kph. Descents really suck you in, even if you don't plan on going fast, you somehow end up going fast.
Great downhill! If only there would be roads like this in Poland...I've made similar ride only once in Austrian Alps and it was best downhill in my life. And for all people asking how is it possible - the speed around 80 kph is nothing special for roadbike, and it's normal that light bike with thin tires is faster than car on winding road
Got to 50MPH on a downhil, when my wife saw it on Strava I was in the shit. 🤦♂️
ROLF!!!
@Sussy ass motherfucka i can do the bike... for me the skis sound scary hahaha
Greetings to my man Rolf
Aggressive, but not rude. He only passed with a good view of the oncoming lane. Well done.
you call that around 00:57 a good view? I call that overtaking before a turn with 0 sight and being lucky that no sports car or motorcycle is on its way up....

Only because it is allowed, it does not mean you have to do it.
The debate here is not whether he "had to" to do it, but rather if it was rude and/or unsafe.
Of course it is unsafe. One slip, one unexpected piece of oncoming traffic round a bend, is enough to not only kill him but also cause a serious incident with the traffic around him. At the moments it looked like you were going 80km/h. Very smooth ride. I like it.

That awkward moment when a bicycle is faster than a car. lol
rEsonansDx It's not that hard to cycle faster than cars in city limits.. do it all the time.
It's very to cycle faster than the car, but requires allot of training, endurance and good bicycle.
It's not it's more just being a douche. It's because the cars are braking..
It's not being a douche, it's being safe. Cars brake a lot faster and harder than cyclists.
No how is it being a douche? Other cars pass each other all the time.
If I went that far downhill, I'm taking a cab back to the top
interesting point
Haha
What if took the cab to the top and returning to bottom
Or you can just cycle uphill slowly and pull to the right while a car comes by and you don't feel safe enough.
🤣
i would feel like a bitch being overtaken by a bike
Mark L-N hear this. i was driving a friends daytona 675 triple... then in a course like this in rhodes greece i am with knee down 90km/h and a road bike passes me from the OUTSIDE. after 2-3 kms in a light we talked to the guy and he was the greek champion... he was folling us steady at 80km/h on a 50km distance...
Kaulamans K ha wow
Mark L-N to be fair, they were probably afraid of killing him so they slow down. idk about you but i get nervous around cyclists when im driving
Mark L-N I would feel like a bitch being ovetraken by a car on that kind of descent, on my roadbike :D

Mateusz Zolnierczyk he enabled your entitlement. Titillating.
What a beautiful landscape, impressive!
I've just watched it again.
Dude, that level of skill is amazing.
Inspiring stuff but something I would never do myself.
Just watching them fingers work their magic on the brakes was somethin.
Be safe man and upload some more videos.
Aahh this video is legendary. The classic interchanged brake cabels reminds me of the good old days of cycling in high school :)
gear* cables... it's the gear cables that could go sideways like that... brake cables always go along the handlebar inside the bar tape :)
@@khaledzaidan thanks for correcting!
Great! Safe riding, braking and ensuring the road was clear. Totally jealous of that ride.
Woow this new cycling simulator looks great! What a nice graphics
Yo no humor is dead just people lose interest. Even if i laugh on my own joke it's still working joke.
Do you think you can overtake my old toyota?
-Of course!
On an uphill road?

44mph on the route from the Hole of Horcum to Pickering. Great stuff.
Fantastic video.

When he started passing up cars I said this guy's an animal. Great video
Farkles1 tnx :)
oh and by the way this was an awesome ride because you kept it confortably under control. Dam good descent! :)
i used to love doing things like this on my commute home from work, cycling down parbold hill and being able to overtake cars. was never strong enough to overtake them on the ascent though
Is usually riskier to drive behind a car at those speeds, they can break waaay better
MacTavish002 - brake, moron.
Get out your own arse Mark Fox
@@markfox1545 nono he meant break...
Perfect overtaking! 👍 Riding downhill in the Alps means a lot of overtaking cars.... absolutely normal and daily business...
Absolutely
That smoothness of the footage is awesomeeee.
For anyone interested, this is the descent from Krvavec mountain towards the village of Cerklje na Gorenjskem in Slovenia
Cycling Rocks ;-)
Haha Woow
Very fast
No
Yes sir! My trek is my friend. Strava is an amazing thing. Check it out!
You know it!
It's fun...
Nice footage, without trembling and shaking..
Thxx for sharing
Love it!
Felt like I was going downhill..
awsome skill!! This must have a lot experience and good skiil. It is too dangerous as you ride very fast.
And then your tire hits a pebble
BAM
What lol no
It's real life not a cartoon.
One time I rolled on a whole apple with road tires, it was a bit bumpy but I didn't crash.

Sweet! a fast downhill is the reward of that very hard uphill you had just done

Love that. Did same 30 years ago in the Alps. Must have hit 60 mph on a heavy tour bike. Great rush.
Nice video, sir. Thanks for the upload.
Far from extreme. Easy road, breaks early. This is a decent and controlled descent.
Be nice. You should of learned that in preschool LIKE IF YOU AGREE
But not a controlled course. Two lanes.
It was meant for that...
I never had the luck of doing a real descent on closed roads.
