I use the same funnel as you but modified a bit. I sanded the end down a little and then hit it with a heat gun to soften it to make it plyable. Shoved it in and let it cool. Now it's a perfect fit!
Great tip Richard! Thanks!
Nice car. I've been flushing these AW transmissions through the radiator connection, similar to the IPD kit. Works like a charm. I never used the drain and fill method.
Thank you Mark; I’ve done the flush technique on the earlier transmissions and it works great as well. I may add a transmission cooler from an Xc90 2.5 as well (just gotta find one!)
I also flush mine and use a old cooling line fitting to plug into the top radiator port. Works perfect with no mess.
R headlights looking Good 😊
Thank you Toby!
Proper level is critical on every automatic transmission.
Absolutely. This particular trans has a small margin of fill error...
I have been keeping my skid pan in my basement for the last 20k miles. Makes service easier
The skid pain in the #*%, or skid pan, is a hassle to take on and off, especially working with jack stands! Thanks for watching!
👏 Aw55, I do mine every 30k.
As dark as my fluid was I’m not sure it had ever been done. I plan to do another soon; thanks John!
Dan… I have 138,500 miles on my 06 Ocean Race. I called a Volvo Specialist in Stanford Va and the first thing they asked me is,” Do you tow? My answer was NO… You don’t need to change it.” I checked the owners manual and it doesn’t give a miles point when to change it. Your opinion… I would you change it?
have the same car, at 90k i had my garage flush and full brake lines and the tranny fluid, shifts like new now. no issues and currently at 93k miles. When in colorado go to the Baker garage. They know their volvos!
They are an amazing car! Thanks for sharing the tip on Bakers.
Thanks for posting this! I am in Colorado and looking at buying a 2007 XC90. I was going to take it to the dealer, but I will give these guys a try first when I get the vehicle.
@@sirblack1619 Of course, Ask for Justin, he's the main man, they're all pros there and now everything.
For minor trans flares look into a lube guard product, I hear that it works.
I’ve used lube guard on several transmissions and have been pleased with the results. A close friend is a GM master transmission tech and he swears by it.
Thanks
Thank you!
these transmissions are definitely sensitive. My 850's aftermarket CV axle is slightly smaller in diameter which caused a small leak at the axle seal. fluid level fell a bit and it was very lazy to shift
Transmission fluid is the working fluid that is at the center of the trans operation; fresh fluid makes a difference! Thank you Matt!
When it comes to changing trans fluid, I always do them cold. I try to get the new oil about the same temperature.
I’ve never heard about changing them cold. Interesting.
How did the install of the S60R headlights go?? Looks sooooo nice!
I used the 2004 connecting wires and adjusted the lights manually for normal driving. And thanks they do add flair; thanks for watching!
Hi there. Volvo xc90 2005. How do I remove the "Transmission Service Required" code after doing the service please? Thank you
Hi Candy World,
You need to use VIDA to do that. You can also do some additional work with VIDA so the trans knows it has new fluid. Thanks for watching!
Я меняю частичной заменой 3,2лтр. Совместно с заменой моторного масла.
My apologies as I cannot translate what you wrote, but thanks for watching!
Looking at either a 2007 xc70 t5 or a 2010 xc70 3.2l. Thoughts on reliability/dependability? Thanks
They are both good cars. I own the 2007 and the engine and drivetrain are excellent. I did add the 305mm brakes to the car and like that improvement. That 2010 3.2 non turbo is noted as an excellent choice by many. I guess you can’t go wrong with either one. Maintenance history should play into your decision and mileage, condition as well. Thanks for watching!
What kind of transmission oil did you use for your car and can i get one after market from a regular automotive store even though the clerks there look your car up by make?
I use only the OEM Volvo Trans Fluid I bought from FCP. For this transmission I highly recommend the OEM fluid. Thanks for watching!
After how many miles I have to change transmission Oil ?
Many recommend 100k, while others say every 50k miles. I would also include considering the conditions of use; towing, hot climate, city driving (stop and go) etc. Thanks for watching!
Any fluid with JWS 3309 rating is fine
Thanks for that info!
does not show where the fill plug is nor show how to check the level but talk too much about irrelevant things
Thank you for watching. I appreciate your critique; it would carry more weight if you added what was good about the video.
Ya, Handydand, your reply would carry some weight IF you answered "where is the fill plug..and ..how to check the level" Videos are mostly a waste of time. One can never tell (like in speed reading) if the knowledge one wants is there.
should have done less talking and more showing where the fill hole is.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback.
