Facts
I don't think the romantic type of love is special, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death.
It seems that most people love their platonic best friend more than their romantic partner. People can survive without a romantic partner, but people can't survive without a platonic best friend.
Platonic relationships are always better than romantic relationships. Platonic relationships are more powerful than romantic relationships.

My best friend asked me if he could be my boyfriend. I thought he was joking because he used his serious face and voice(he would do that with jokes before). I then saw his reaction and I felt bad for laughing. I told him I did not want to loose our friendship. He then explained why he wanted to date me. It was hard for me at first, coming from a bad relationship. This relationship was very different in a good way.
We have been happily married for 5 years. We have a 3 year old and a 1 and half year old.
Even when we argue or disagree (not often, but happens) about something instead of calling a time out I say I need to talk to my best friend...he says the same..lol it works.

Great story. My wife and I are also medical school sweethearts. Met in 1st year, got married between 2nd and 3rd. We have been together now for 43 years. We even retired at the same time and now are grandparents! Even better than being doctors. It does work though not without struggles along the way. However, nothing that really matters is easy but well worth the effort. It has been quite a journey.

I did something similar except that I knew she was not interested in me romantically. But it was either I risk losing the friendship or I lose my life. It was really at that point. The pain was killing me. It was D-Day for me. I will never forget the immense feeling of peace and relief that I had immediately after sending the message telling her how I felt. That was followed by the hardest year of my life as I slowly rebuilt myself, without my friend.
That was nearly 20 years ago. I've since married and have a beautiful family that make all that pain worth it.

EVERYTHING has became successful in my life the moment i accepted him as my Lord and asking for forgiveness of all my sins I have ever done. I am now the happiest person in the world, with so much purpose and success in my life because I’ve learned to follow all of his commandments and listen to exactly what he tells me to do every day of my life and the moment I steer away from that, chaos and confusion vacuums in, but because I know that now it’s been a great journey.
My best friend “asked me out” & I said no because I didn’t want to ruin a good thing. We remained “just friends”, until I realized that I did like him more than that. @@MM-we4no first of all I'm in the same relationship that I've been in for the last 8 years so rejection isn't an issue. It's also pretty bold to assume that desiring someone's time and attention is "predatory". Sometimes the feelings for another person are so strong that rather than risking losing their presence in your life you would rather suppress your own feelings for fear of driving them away. So let me ask you this...Would it still be "predatory" if the roles were reversed? Or is it just because this specific instance is predicated from the male perspective? Is it wrong for someone to want to be loved and try to build a bond with someone before actually getting into a relationship with them? Is it wrong to try and build trust before opening yourself up to another that could hurt you? Is it wrong to be nervous about rejection? You may need to lay off the feminism and come back to a more rational reality.
Best marriages come when both are best friends to each other! I'm living this experience and already have 4 years of marriage.
