i am 74 years old and I have purchased my very first mini cooper and have to say I bloody well love it, its fast, sporty , over the years I have had mainly big cars 2.5 to 3 ltr engines and always diesel. hope im alive at 85 because iwant to drive this car till the guys with wings take me up there haha

@@Whiponized yep i do what amazes me is its said that a petrol engine mini gets around 40 mpg no way, best i have done is about 30 mpg motorway driving, average mpg is 25 on my 1600 s

My hubby who is 6'2" fits in it just fine and I love all the bells and whistles on my Mini and the gas mileage is fantastic. It does ride a bit rough because of the short wheel-base, but it handles superbly, like a go-kart on steroids!! Love driving it!

I've owned one. the short answer is yes. the car has soo much character and uniqueness that no other car has. It may not be the fastest set of wheels on the block, but it doesn't feel like a bland, boring, mass produced (although it somewhat is) vehicle. The quality in and out is excellent. Mine suffered poor MPG for a 4cyl vehicle. You should get one

A Mini Cooper S was my first car. The best car I've ever driven. Buying another as soon as I get out of basic.

Well, we can't expect such a small car to have 'Estate Car' storage space and 'Luxury Car' comfort. That's just unrealistic. There probably really is no such thing as the perfect car that has small car fuel economy, estate car storage space, and luxury car comfort.
All of that said, I don't deny that this little car has character and is interesting.
Man these spice orange with white minis are my favorite combo. This one is literally perfect best wheels and white turn signals. Impossible to find used and they don't make the r56 anymore. So all I have left is this video. Maybe one day I'll find one
I want to get a Mini cooper S for my birthday this year. Although it's small, it's so classy. :O
The Cooper S is twice as expensive for insurance for everyone. I'd rather get the normal one.

I'm 6' 4" and have plenty of room. My new Cooper S is the most fun car I've ever driven. You should testdrive one at a dealership to see what you think.

Yes, it doesn't have bags of space inside - the clues in the name 'Mini'. If you want space would you buy a car called mini... I don't think so. Why do reviewers stated the bleedin' obvious.

Because it's not obvious, it's a bigger car than something like a Ford Ka and yet it only has the same space inside as a Ford Ka which might make some buyers choose the Ka over the mini since its smaller than the mini but has the same space inside...

The thing about a Mini is, even if it is mini, big sized people will do all it takes to stuff themselves into one, because its just such a gorgeous car to drive and look at!
We took the rear seats out and welded up an aluminum frame to hold a 11mm piece of ply as a dog carrier / cargo area.
It's called a MINI for a reason. This car was built as a ' Fun To Drive ' it is not a family sedan. I also doubt that the builders had the highways in mind when they build this car. This car is perfect around town as it is very nimble in traffic and you don't have to worry about parking. It is pure joy on yhe country roads.

Yes, the boot is impractical, but I manage to fit in the back with ease. I don't know why everyone says the rear legroom is so bad, it's just not. The ride is comfortable as well and the interior is definetely not cheap.
Been saving up for one of these, now I'm off to uni I can get one hooray

I can confirm these are far better to travel long distances than a ds3!
I test drove one and the only thing I didn't like was the excessive wind noise at highway speeds but other than that their great.
I passed my drivers test in a Mini :) He's right about the firm ride, it is quite uncomfortable on all but the very smoothest of roads. But heyy, if comfort is what your after, buy a Golf.
I still love mini,mate, my favorite car on the road:)
Thinking about getting a Mini Cooper One MT, but I'm kind of worried about maintenance costs. I live in Brazil and here I'd have to stick with BMW's concessionaires. Let's say I'm not the kind of person who BELONG inside a BMW's store, in the first place.
Space in the boot and backseats don't worry me. I used to have a Fiat 500, so...

I learn in a 2014 mini and they are great cars they are quick, versatile and has no back end that sticks out and has a short front end so is super easy to park! The interior is really nice and puts it above any other small hatchback car in the market apart from maybe the NEW Ford Fiesta ST! But anyone who says they are a girls car drive one first!
So much fun to drive to no matter what you've driven, my bmw went for a service I got given a Mini for the day it was brilliant, I'm buying a Mini next

what i like is that it's not just retro, but it's slightly whimsical. it's like a bmw with personality.
That thing is abigger than a Mk4 Golf now. I like the 1st geb BMW mini, Mk2 was okay aswell but this thing is huge now

After 3 years, I can confirm. When you are 6ft+ this car gets difficult to comfortably drive. Especially on long journeys. My seat is pretty much in the back bench by now

The Mini is probably sportier and more upmarket (or not) but you should definitely test drive both!

Are they any good fort the taller 6 foot person, I had a 68 Cooper back in 80 and they were tiny.
thing that annoys me is yes the boot is small but u can adjust the rear seats so there is more boot room without fully collapsing them

u dont buy mini bcoz u want it for practical use, but u buy mini for fun and to look cool! even now in 2012, it has never look outdated, in fact it has becomes cooler each year. =)
I have one question and i hope to get clear respond, because I'm buying my first car, having tough time deciding. really like mini hatch s. I leave in Moscow some times it's -20 degrees Celsius really snowy and cold lots of ice on roads. What is like to start up an engine in the morning when its freezing? are there any problems that i should be aware of?

is mini is good? how about fuel comsumption? and is car service is really that expensive(as normal person)
My 1.6L Cooper on the motorway will get 50+mpg, and around 39mpg in town. 40 litre tank - on the motorway will do 430 miles before having the low fuel light come on, and around town I'll get around 300 and being a small tank costs around £30-£35 to fill.
@MrMadpenguin what is the basis for your assertion? I don´t know about the Audi but I hired a DS3 in France and honestly thought it was dreadful to drive and the quality felt poor
Crash regulations mean making a car as small as the original mini with 4 seats is impossible today. Besides, the new mini is still small compared to most modern cars, it is over 2 feet shorter than a ford focus for example. And it is better built than the original mini too and still has more character than most cars you can buy.

Mini does look a lot better as a three door, don’t like the new 5 doors! Maybe they should’ve done what Renault did with their Clio and abscured the extra doors in the styling.

I also passed my test in a mini but never noticed the harsh ride, I think people can be a bit soft nowadays.

Gotta agree with the ride. Ditch the run flats for real wheels, the ride is much better. After warranty service is expensive. In some cases more than a 3 series Bimmer. Love the car, but keep the warranty...

The Z3 probably drives and looks better, but you can get a Mini Cooper new, while you can only buy a Z3 used. I guess it would be hard to find a Z3 which has a service history and had a good 1st/2nd/3nd... owner since it's a BMW.
continue.. my cousin has problem with its engine and couldnt get fix.. and if he tried to fix at local shop, it would cost $1000 just for registeration and cost toyota yaris sedan(vios) to change whole engine.. the yaris(vios) is cost around $24,000 and its hopeless.. so can you suggest other way because my cousin love his mini cooper but he wouldnt want to sell it..
