The guy who listed the parcel shelf on eBay is the kind of guy who will de-ply toilet paper to get twice the amount.
Ha ha nice one🤣
😂
Ucccch such a cheapskate!
Or one sheet to wipe and one sheet to polish....what a tightarse (there's nothing worse).
or somehow never get his round in!
Alright guys hows it going, welcome back!
Love your channel mate and watch every one, i wonder if you can help with a problem I've got concerning a number plate transfer, dvl want a code, how do i find it? many thanks
He says back weirdly!
Well we're here
@@richardirvine9469You can't get rid of him.😂😂😂
It's.... Alright guys, how's it going, welcome baaaaack 👍 Great guy!
After 2015 they’ve improved reliability massively!
I’ve owned 2016 Countryman for 4 years only had one small issue.
No engine issues or transmission issues. Just make sure it is properly maintained if you can afford it!
The benefit of Minis are having small tanks, so you never have to spend so much to fillup.
After 2014, All F series are good
@@fabini14
Early cars are also good. Just the older they get the more things get worn out.
Such a quality channel, really watchable, likeable and informative. Great to see an honest and articulate English guy going about his business
Thanks
I'm a driving instructor, on my 2nd F56 Mini cooper, They are Bulletproof little cars but do have foibles, I have bimmer link and a Vgate for registering batteries and clearing codes ( rarely happens). My personal car is an Alfa Brera S and whilst it has more theatre and feel than the Mini , on B roads the Mini is an absolute hoot.
I'll be buying another when the time comes. Pupils love driving the little thing as do I !
Had a 2004 mini once, paid £300 for it. Sold it for £500 a year later with 323,000 on the clock on the original engine. Felt like a go kart.
how much would a 2009 mini be worth? I'm thinking £2000
@@zuowang5185 depends on mileage, condition etc. but yeah I recon around that number
@@zuowang5185 mini cooper? They have the Mini One and Mini First as well. Depends on the spec. £2000 if it's done less than 100k miles, has climate control. Otherwise no, less than that.
Also a warning the BMW engines produced between 2007 and early 2010 had dodgy timing chains. They fixed it in late 2010 with the minis so if you're going to get one, get one with a 60 plate or newer and absolutely do not buy an old high milage cooper S under any circumstance. It's like loading a 6 shooter with 6 bullets and hoping for good news at the next MOT.
@@randomdaveUK looking at one at 95km mileage, replaced timing chain in 2018. Asking £2100. Claim to have full service history and driven by an old lady. Lots of scuff on wheels though
@@zuowang5185 is the spec alright? Climate, multifunction wheel? Heated seats and leather at that price range are bonuses not givens.
Timing chain being done is a big plus. As you can check the MOT history online is there any incident of an oil leak as an advisory or ongoing?
Other big one is advisory emissions failure as the exhaust would then need work soon.
I think if you like the spec and can say no to both those MOT questions you've probably got a decent one and that's a good price
I’m amazed at how Matt can always tell the brand of tyre from so far away. He’s got super vision.
Another year passes by Matt. It’s good to see that you’re doing well (hopefully). All the best for Christmas and here’s to 2024. 🍻
I know… time flies. Hope you have a good one
Got a 2016 Cooper S, just love how it always puts a smile on my face, I’ve had days of feeling terrible, rough day at work, and having the dual centre exhaust tips making popcorn noises make me laugh, the pulling me to the back of my chair under acceleration, bearing in mind I’m 23 and before the mini, my most powerful car was a 1.6 tdi seat arona, I can forgive the spine bash going over speed bumps
That’s quite a nice and presentable Mini now, it should sell quickly.
Seasons greetings and happy New Year to you and your family Matt, I’m looking forward to more great content next year❤.
Merry Christmas
Good little profit (it is allowed!). These vidoes have been a weekly highlight. Cheers Matt. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for this latest video and for the regular supply of great content, information, advice and humour. Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and healthy and prosperous new year.
My sister had an early cooper s i recall it was a 52 plate so a long time ago ! Anyway she let me take it out one day for a spin and bloody hell they move !! I think I drove about ten miles before I had to stop for a change of underwear! 😂….anyway I’m off for a beer or ten so I’ll wish Matt and all you other cool doods at High Peak Autos a very merry Christmas and obviously a prosperous new year and not to mention gallons more top notch videos 💪
Happy Christmas!
Yet another awesome video with great information and setting the example of what to look for when analyzing a used car. As always, thanks!
Merry Christmas Matt..🎅
Thanks for another great year of honest videos, looking forward to many more in 2024..😁
Nice save, and looks great now. Thanks for the videos this year Matt, all the best to you & yours for the Christmas season.
Thank you. Love these videos. Have a happy Christmas.
My daughter is still driving a Mini All 4 One 2013 bought in Birmingham and it still goes great 10 years later. Needs servicing and the like as most ICE cars do, along with the usual tyres and wipers but there have been no tragic high cost items. You underspent? I am immediately heading to a darkened room to lie down and get over the shock!! All the best over the festive break and thanks again for all your content that has cheered me so often in 2023.
Thanks for your 3 Videos a week this year. Always look forward to watching them after work. Merry Christmas Matt!

Hi Matt great video, just thought I let you know I have one of these, mine is a 2018 1.5 with a JCW pack so it's nice to see your one still looks good with that miles on the clock good luck with the sale it probably won't take long..cheers Phil from Newark
My wife loves minis. We’ve had a cooper and changed about every part possible to keep it running. When we sold it, it must surely have been the newest oldest mini out there!
Nice black high neck top btw, is that item for sale in your merchandise shop?
Merry Christmas Matt , thank you for the outstanding videos you put out , keep them coming 🎄
Another great video Matt, really enjoying them.
Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Great timing in time to enjoy some food and watch , love these videos . Hope you include more of taking it to mechanics and other clips like did previously on BMW z3
As someone who sold minis, the front space was the same as a 3 series so that’s why it never felt small
have a good christmas , love your honest reviews.🏴⛺️🚙
Merry Christmas!
Decent video as always 🥰 Hope you have a nice rest during the festive time 🥰🎄
Great video Matt 👍🏻 I’m always amazed how these cars can look so different with a little TLC! The upholstery guy and valet guys are well worth the money 👏🏻👍🏻 have a great Christmas 😀
Upholstery and valet guys work for nothing. I don't know why they even bother.
Probably on the original clutch 😂
Great little video Matt, and hopefully a decent margin with no overspend 😃

My wife bought a 18 year Clubman a few years ago and the quality is so much better than the previous generation that my mates 11 year plate is. I thought she was nuts buying a mini but I’m pleasantly shocked by how good it is. 🎉

Another entertaining video Matt. 👌
3rd gen so far does well in reliability surveys. Big improvement on 2nd generation. Big price premium over 2nd generation reflects that especially as a convertible. So we could only afford 2nd gen. They did improve the famously unreliable prince N14 engine in 2011 with the N18 but having owned a 2012 for 6 months you have to accept that solenoids and coil packs are service items in the same way oil is. Mine so far does not burn oil. Still nearly at max on dipstick These items from a specialist are not costly, the spark plugs being the most expensive part. And yes they're heavy to drive and compromised but they also can get under your skin as they're involving and eager. The polar opposite of our other car a golf mark 7 which is easy, comfortable refined but somewhat numb to drive.
Hi Matt... I hope you haven`t massively overspent on the Christmas presents .. Have enjoyed your videos. Best wishes for 2024.
Never tap the watch later tab when your videos pop up, instant viewing. Looking forward to more and more.....
Thanks. I appreciate it. Merry Christmas
I love your videos and if/when I need to buy myself my next car I will certainly check your stock out on your website! I have one request in the meantime, when you total up your spend at the end of the videos, can you put a graphic on screen to make it nice and clear? Thanks and keep up the great content!
It’s great to hear your comments and opinions on the Mini Cooper. It sounds like it’s a solid even at 120k miles. Merry Xmas to you!
Thanks Matt for the great videos. Have a Merry Christmas from downunder Australia
Thanks! Same to you
Great video apart from the tyres mix up ! The parcel shelf/charge leads episode doesn’t surprise me at all. Some people have cheek for owt ! They’re only defrauding a business so that’s alright in their eyes. Merry Christmas Matt .
have a great Christmas and new year, l hope you have a great Christmas with your family as well, and all your staff,
Hi Matt, Merry Christmas to you and yours. You were probably "negged out" because it was cold and getting near the end of the year. We tend to put the cart before the horse at these times. An old mate of mine used to say that "The profit is in the buying." so if you buy them right there should be enough left for that nasty word "profit" in the end. Enjoy your break if you take one and come back refreshed in the New Year.
You have a great memory Matt, you can always remember the list of things that needed to be done, even things they haven't billed you for! Have a great Christmas :)
To open the bonnet on these minis you have to pull the bonnet lever twice in quick succession to pop it.
Looks like a good buy Matt! As its a Cooper, the profit could come, JUST LIKE THAT 😊
That would be magic.
Another good video Matt and merry Christmas 🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊👍👍👍
Merry Christmas
I've driven this particular model and it's such a great car. Handles great, good amount of power, is really fun overall really
yeahhhhhh Thats 22 mins of my friday evening sorted :) , cheers mate & Merry Christmas :)
Thanks. Merry Christmas
Hi Matt. The key fob batteries fail quite bit on this mark of Mini. I had several batteries go. I think the fob is sensitive to a voltage drop. I started using Renata batteries and ever since I have had no issue. I hope this helps
At least the battery is easy to fix. Try doing that on the 2nd generation. It's soldered onto the motherboard. Absolutely ridiculous piece of design
My Golf key fob could eat batteries. Renata batteries seemed to last the longest......
@@paultasker7788 yes I know my wife had one. The engines on those were awful and drank oil
Hi matt, i was going to say about the tyres they were very low, good luck with the wee car, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless and merry Christmas.
Another good video, Matt.
£225 is pretty good for a pair of Michelins, I like it that you fit decent tyres, a lot of traders fit cheapos or part worns that need immediate replacement so 👍👍
As a viewer, I'm slightly disappointed with the lack of overspend, but the business comes first.
Have a great Christmas
Right I can’t understand that part . Most of us actually use part worn tyres ourselves hence we do it to other cars we sell 😂
Nice to see decent tyres fitted. Part worns a MOT tester who is quite fussy on tyres said that you could be buying someone elses trouble, as there is always a reason they are part worn. They could of come off a scrapped car and not checked, could of been reason car was crashed or replaced early as they were crap.
We generally only replace when worn to about 2mm, damaged or we dont like them.
@@richwilliams9895
While I understand that I can't think of anyone in their right mind who'd buy a car and replace the tyres straight away 'just in case' if the tyres are at least 3mm or above. Using existing tyres on a used car is no difference from buying part worn tyres with one caveat: I bought some part worns once which someone had used a regrooving tool to 'retread' them. They went straight back and I got a refund. I also reported the seller though fat lot of good that probably did!
This is a true good man frist class vids always godbless you always and all the lovely people on here and a merry Christmas and happ new year to all
Merry Christmas
i have recently discovered your channel. really enjoying the content. keep it up. love form Algeria
Thank you. All the best
Still a nice bit of profit mate thats the main thing!! Happy Christmas mate, look after yourself!!
Same to you
You have made this car perfect!! Well done! For the steering wheel, I heard that if you get a wet cloth and scrub the heck out of the steering wheel for about 5 minutes, it should make it look newer and have a more ‘matte’ finish. I know it works on BMW’s so it may work on a mini, who knows?? Great video as always!!
Just clean it with detergent or degreaser. The shine is grease and dirt from hands. If the leather hasn't actually worn, this generation steering wheel leather can look brand new again.
Glad you got some good luck for a change with this one, nice to be wrong sometimes!
I was thinking I should pick you up, for doing the CarVertical ad while sitting with the engine idling and causing global warming. So, that ad is SO much better, thank you, Matt and a very merry Christmas to you and yours.
I can’t believe these are nearly 10 years old. I have a Clubman, and you’re right, you do have to be in the mood for a MINI.
As a driver of an 11 year old cooper S convertible I agree. They are built to be involving to drive not easy. So if you're exhausted this is not the car to drive. If you're fresh and in the mood for a bit of point and squirt fun it's great fun for the price. My mark 7 golf can probably keep up and does the exact same journey with next to no effort. The mini feels like you've gone much faster, had to drive the thing. In many ways feels more like a classic.
@@paultasker7788 the mini has a bit of attitude, it always feels like it wants to go faster. 😂
@@paultasker7788That's why I like my fiesta so much, feels like it can do both
keep up the work man :)

Another brilliant video! Really appreciate these videos, as I'm looking to buy a car next year. Could you do a video on a honda civic (2017/18 plus reg)? I like my Japanese cars lol
Merry Christmas
Hello Matt,
Well done again, nice looking car. I had a Mini Cooper H26 FRW, great car but it was stolen. Never seen again.
I’d like a new one but you hear such terrible stories about engine issues.
Anyway, thanks for all the videos through the year.
Happy Christmas.

Thanks for entertaining me no end in 23! Merry xmas. Ay Matty were are the "Bazz it" boys?
HPA posts us a Christmas video thanks and merry Christmas Matt.
I don’t like the digital service history so I brought an old fashioned paper dealer service book for my motor and got the dealer to stamp it. Dealers stamp books retrospectively too so you can do this with any car as long as it’s been serviced with evidence. That way if I do sell my car that book goes with it and the next owner can use it anywhere in the future.
Superb cars we have the Countryman Cooper S with additional JCW extras. We find it comfortable and more than fast enough. Handles well too.
Merry Christmas to you and your subscribers ,and the best thing is City are Champion of the world 😊😊😊😊😊
What a result. Merry Christmas
Another great video. Matt out of all the cars that you've either owned or sold, whats the most fun car you've ever driven?
Merry Christmas 🤶
Give me an old fashioned service book anytime😁 have a good Christmas Matt 👍🏻
When you started off saying there should be some good profit here, i thought here we go, hes massively overspent, so well done on another fine job. Happy xmas Matt, heres to success in 2024.
Love the style of your videos, the way you "chat" to us as if we are in there with you. Question about your website, why don't you use the imagery you use in these videos. You always show off the car with beautiful rolling hills behind the car. And on your website, for your photos of the sellable vehicles, it's a brick wall, some metal railings, and a double yellow line! Anyway, keep up the good content. J
If I had the time I would take them all somewhere scenic for photos but it’s always a rush
Enjoy the festive period Matt 👍🏼
Thanks! You too
I'm surprised it only needed two tyres Matt - I thought all but the offside rear Vredestein were either at the limit or at two mil of tread. I was thinking you'd spring for three matching Vredesteins at the three other corners. The plot thickens...in any case, cheers Matt and all the best this holiday season and in the new year.
Thanks! Merry Christmas
You spelled 'Vredestein' the first time right Matt, it's a Dutch brand that makes decent tires. Happy holidays!
I just sold my 2012 Mini Cooper S for just less than $2000 CDN$ what i actually paid for it 4.5 years earlier. It Never let me down once mechanically. It sat outside in -40 weather in Canada and always started first time. I serviced it every 6000 km and replaced the tires and brakes and that was it. Only sold it because i need to tow a motorcycle and as i get older my knees would hurt getting in and out of it. Gas mileage was incredible though. Have a great Holiday Matt !! thanks for all the great videos, and hope the new year brings the dealership continued success for 2024!!!!
I have a 2012 mini Cooper S convertible. This is the N18 engine which was brought out to fix the rather large number of faults of the N14 (2006-2011). I made sure I got an N18. I quickly found a mini specialist to get the car back into good shape. Still rather complex with lots to fail but most of it is quite affordable. The major service was my biggest bill due to some long life spark plugs . Coil packs and vanos solenoids are regarded as service items in the same way the oil and spark plugs are! Needed 2 coil packs and a new thermostat. The intake vanos solenoid still needs doing as it throws a reduced power engine light every 2 weeks or so which goes out if you switch off an on again and won't come back on for a while. A much better timing chain tensioner should be installed but they've suggested that's changed anyway as a precaution. Some of these parts are surprisingly easy to fix, my specialist recommended I did it myself to save time and money but I won't because I am not good with mechanical stuff. Much better at using electrical diagnostic tools which probably fooled them into thinking I was an expert. I'll take it in sometime soon. Then the suspension components needed doing. On the upside because it's not from the North east the specialist said I had the best subframe he's seen! And also the best driving example
Hey Matt! Mixed feelings about this purchase, I love the car as I had the same Mini (but the diesel version) for 3 years and absolutely bloody loved it! However it was a nightmare to sell, I got it for £6k retail from a car trader at 75k miles and couldn’t sell it for £5k at 85k miles last summer.. had to part with it by selling it to the same trader for a big loss as I couldn’t wait for months to sell it privately .. Good luck and happy holidays mate 🎄🤞🏻
Can I ask why you thought you would get more than you were expecting when it’s three years older and 10k more on the clock?
@@jamescornick8739 Comparing prices with same model, options and mileage plus the used car market was up like 40%. Also ULEZ zone got extended and I was living in zone 2 at the time.
3 years and 10k miles, only losing 1k is pretty good in my eyes.
I do like that A8 you are running around in
What Matt? Massively underspent😮 .Is this going to be a New Year's resolution 🎉
Hopefully this returns a decent profit margin so Matt can continue his crusade to save genuinely lovely cars like that Z3. Certainly a lot of car for the money as well.
The ups and downs of running a business. You do it in style Matt
Style over substance me thinks - Happy Christmas Mat
Another great video Matt and a great result for Man City, best club in the world 🎉
So sad that the parcel shelf thing was your first encounter with the E-Golf... I own one and I love it! 😊
Of this gen we’ve had a cooper (like this) clubman, countryman now a cooper s convertible. So much better than the first gen ones. Never had any issues.
That’s a great car to sell on and at £5.5k will make a fab car to own. We have a 2015 Cooper S 2.0 auto. It’s brilliant. We would never be without a Mini in our household, especially as we live in Weardale with all those hills and beautiful scenery.
Great video Matt as always :) and have a nice Christmas. By the way, you driving Audi A8 now?
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too
Well done and happy holidays if you have a chance.
You sell cars that I'd be happy putting my daughters in. One day I hope. All the best.
The B48 engine in the 3rd series F56 Mini, is great. I have a 2.0 Cooper S, with 178K on the clock, and the only thing, apart from regular servicing, that ive put in it is half a litre of engine oil. Best car ive ever owned!
Astonishingly good cars. I think they're the hidden gem of the used car market. So many people (including Matt here) equate them with the horrors of the previous models where they're light years ahead. It's also one of the few cars I'd choose the auto over the manual. The Aisin conventional auto with the JCW optional upgrade (paddles and gearbox mods) is superb.
@@DiscoFang Yes, im changing to the new JCW in around 6 months, as my Cooper S is nearly 5 years old - it should have covered around 225K miles by then.
@@DiscoFang I completely agree with you, such nice cars in a small package - whats not to like? Unfortunately everyone is caught up on the idea that MINIs are 'unreliable' and 'nothing but problems' when they've never tried a F56. So much stupidity in the comments but glad you are sticking up for these really underrated little cars
@@JP-bh7wbit's not just minis, BMW ballsed up the engines between 08-2012 (2010 fix for Minis). The unreliability tag is going strong because the cars in this price range that are uncared for usually have issues. You're right the newer engines are fine
