I think my absolute favorite part is about I Prevail as a whole when it comes to the drums is how powerful the kick is. I hate when the drums are mixed poorly and it just feels blended with the rest and there is no umph to it.
And the snare sounds like a freaking CANNON

@@gabe1655 that's not a hard and fast rule though, it's just how you can fit it into the mix without crowding the sonic space. Toms can be higher in the mix, but it all just depends on the producer and the specific song.

I couldnt agree with you more .... there are so few bands out there that can capture the "djent" tastefully, and I Prevail seem to already be masters of it. Its the number one reason i listen. Those Djenty beats, insane heavy guitars, and Brians singing screaming through. Its what i LIVE for!

I love playing along to this song on the drums!!!! only one issue, I have broken 2 snare heads while playing this song, I don't know if this is due to poor hitting or just the fact that I am playing like I am at a concert on mesh heads. I really don't want to spend more money on snare heads after consistently breaking them every 2 weeks pretty much so idk I think ur an amazing drummer that knows a lot about the drums so I was just hoping that you had a pointer or two for why this is happening

So, can you believe this is the first video of yours I watched? I was like- wow he NAILED that song. And then I realized you were the drummer! :-) I just want to compliment you on one particular aspect that's under appreciated- the cymbal mutes. The use of empty space in this song is what IMMEDIATELY drew me to it.

Yeah so I decided to use quarantine time to focus on something and learn a skill. I bought a drum kit and a practice pad and decided to just jump into drumming. I've got 12 hours every shift at work to sit and watch tutorials and playthroughs and whatever, and then go home and practice. I've been watching your videos like crazy, along with a few other channels. I feel like I might be able to play this... in 80 years. Goddamn dude. So so so sick.
