Update: According to duran's own year-end reflections, they intend to finish reportage this year, and according to Nick, there isnt a lot of work needing to be done....so it seems almost a sure thing that the album will be released in 2024. afterall, they say that aside from touring, its the only item on their agenda.

@@RedMugMusic Duran Duran should stop getting other musicians, producers and anything that will influenced them with what sound that they want. Duran Duran should just make albums by themselves I think that they will come out with better sounding albums in the future if they'll just believe that they can do it themselves. Coz it's been a loooong loooong tome since they made a fantastic sounding album. For me the best Duran albums are those with Warren and Steve ferrone like notorious, Big thing, Liberty and the wedding album.

Brian, you forgot to add the visa problems AndyT had trying to fly over to New York to join DD w Timbaland and work w them. DD management has trouble getting getting his visa approved in time to join in the recording sessions. That played a part also that pissed AndyT off. It’s in his book. Dying to hear this album. Love hard rock DD and only w AndyT they can rock out! Would love to see all five together at the R and R HOF induction ceremony! Thanks for this video man!! Yeah, there was a VISA incident, but that wasn't the first time he had that issue. (It says that in his book as well.). As I said above, the main problem is between Nick and Andy. Nick is soo damn cocky, since he is one of the founders of the band. That is something doesn't go or sound his way. It's not going to be done. And that's the problem between Nick and Andy. Andy wants the edgier more rock music. He knew the album wdnt be approved the way it was bcs he knows that side of the business and is a producer. But Nick wdnt hear of it.

Reportage was a response to Franz Ferdinand carving out what Duran Duran thought was their own classic sound. But the label pushed for a more R&B sound and a collab with Timbaland/Timberlake. Remember they were already dropped by a label during Medazzaland and they were afraid of it happening again

There's still going to be one last album with Andy, even if it's not "Reportage." Shortly after he went public with his cancer diagnosis, Andy said that he had mended fences with Simon and Nick, and not long after that Simon said the same thing and that they were working on new material with Andy. That was pretty big; when Andy quit (or was fired, depending on whose side you believe), it seemed pretty definite that they never even wanted to talk to each other ever again, let alone work together.

They need to make it up with Andy and only tour with sound engineers that understand the importance of the bass in the live audio mix, they have sounded so tinny live for years since playing with Dom. Whereas the earlier live performances have bass at the forefront as it should be. Sometimes I notice, and I don't know if it's a lack of confidence thing or if they think it sounds better but last few years John is playing the songs so much more "straight" than they could be, ie less funk and very straight playing, no staccato or octaves. Whereas we all know when John goes off on a funky tangent it is truly an incredible thing and he underrates himself as a bassist very much so.

People need to read Andy Taylor's book, "Wild Boy". He talks about what happened at the last album recording in the studio. He wanted to do the rock edgier stuff, but apparently Nick was the one who didn't like the material. Andy didn't want the album to go forward bcs he is a producer in his own right. He produces other bands at his own studio at home. So he knew that Sony would not approve before the album even got to them. It needed more work, but the rest didn't want to do what Andy felt needed to be done beforehand. I feel that Nick, since being one of the founders of the group, doesn't want to be told any suggestions that Andy felt needed to be done. And I think Nick needs to stop being cocky. Also, I believe that if it weren't for Simon, there wouldn't have been a reunion with Andy. I've been a fan of there's since they started and love them to death, but Nick needs to come down a couple notches in his cockiness now.

'Last Day On Earth' from 'Pop Trash', 'Virus' from 'Astronaut', 'Lake Shore Driving' from 'Big Thing' (you get my drift here) all rock surprisingly hard. Duran said early on they wanted be Chic meets the Sex Pistols, to meld grooves w/hard guitars, & they do it quite well. And right around the time of the RnR HOF induction (& live reunion with Andy & Warren) would be the perfect time to release 'Reportage.' If it's the most "rock" thing they've ever recorded, it would squash the talk of "Why put Duran Duran, a 'New Wave Dance/Pop group' into the Hall?" & it would be something fans, would buy for the curiosity factor alone. And if it's the 'lost classic' it's been called, that's a win/win.

Duran Duran was, is and will always be a rock band. That whole "new romantic" crapola came from the poisoned typewriters of music critics who think they're being 'elitist', when they're just being hypocritical. The first Ministry album was synth-driven pop - no one would dare dismiss them as "new romantic" now, but then......So it's all bullshit. In fact, there's a lot of creative parallels between U2 and DD. But don't you dare say that publicly, or they'll accuse you of being a juvenile groupie.
