Who the hell do Michael Alig and Ernie Glam think they are? Michael Alig spearheaded a countercultural youth movement based on the concept of the Warholian "anti-Celebrity" and became King of the Club Kids before inspiring the film Party Monster, starring Macaulay Culkin. He is currently painting masterpieces of artwork; working on his autobiography, Aligula; designing a club kid-inspired clothing line called Skroddleface; directing a NYC art collective called Countdown and recording a new dance single. One of the original club kids, Ernie Glam is a journalist and irreverent talk show host by day, Underground clothing designer and stylist-to-the-stars by night; catch him - -if you can get past the red velvet ropes -- at the city's hottest nightclubs and parties.

Boy George is one of the reasons so many people know of Leigh Bowery. I mean, he has, perhaps single handedly, helped revive Leigh's fame (and notoriety) in the 2000s through his Taboo musical. Leigh styled and designed for Boy George in the late 80s and I believe they were also friends. It's a little uninformed and simplistic to say Boy George has copied Leigh. He has done more than anyone to perpetuate Leigh's myth and legendary persona ...
Leigh Bowery became as famous as he was after Boy George was famous. The musical Taboo tried to conflate Boy George/Marilyn and Leigh Bowery's stories but it's not true. Sue Tilley (the "DSS benefits supervisor" in Lucian Freud's $20m Benefits Supervisor Sleeping (and other paintings)) who was Leigh Bowery's friend and worked at Taboo club wrote an excellent memoir about him, it's worth checking out.
It’s sad that the videos are getting more views after Michael has passed. Shows how hypocritical our society is.
That tends to happen after someone attends heaven. Because of the Desmond coming to tea video ,they got demonitised as Im sure you know. So it wouldn't have mattered if they got 10.000 views at the time

Strange my girlfriend new Jenn and in 96 I was in a bit of a state. My GF said hey do you want to go to this party with Jenn and her friend Michael A. I said yea I know him from the limelight.
So I hooked up with Michael one afternoon and we went shopping, or I went shopping for him 😬😬 and that night we went to what would be his last club nights.
He mentioned after I went ( shopping ) that he had to check in with some detectives! I almost crapped my pants but I still met up with him that night. 😬
