One thing I really admire about Joel and his videos is that there is never any "trash talk" when he is eating with someone else - Joel is so very supportive of the mere mortals he eats with. There is too much trash talking in our society today, so I applaud Joel for not taking part in it.
Agreed. I saw an episode on someone else’s channel that had Joel and 4 others and one of the guys started kind of trash talking and Joel understood that some of the other members were struggling and he seemed a little agitated. And rightfully so in my opinion

A good marinara is worth its weight in gold! It can elevate plain pasta to a whole different level. I love a thick, slightly chunky marinara that sticks to your chicken, pasta, or sub. When I saw the bowl of marinara, I just knew the pizza was going to end up dipped in it! 😊😊 I would be looking for some buttery garlic bread to finish off the sauce!
Scared me when the guy started choking. I'm glad he was ok. You know the marinara is good when it can be eaten alone. That chicken parm looked so great & the sandwiches were stuffed! The pizza looked ok, crust was too thick for my preference, but I would still try it out because the pepperoni & fresh basil made it look delicious. Great effort for the other guys, they still got through more than what most people could have, so major props for them.

I lived in San Diego for 3 years and never found this joint! Dang. Everything looks great. And Sicilian, not just “Italian”. Chefs kiss. The dressing you’re raving about sounds like “sub sauce” in Italian NY delis. Yum

I honestly don't know how Joel does it. To put it in perspective you see others try the same challenges that are twice his size and they don't come close to his level. You also put it out there that it's dangerous to eat that much at one sitting. Your videos make me not only hungry but want to visit the locations you visit to do these amazing challenges. You finally hit my hometown bro! I grew up here, and Nicolosi's was always the go-to place to get a submarine sandwich, the one you were raving about, late at night with a case of the munchies. They were open till 11 or later. Their original place was nearby, but was confiscated by the city for more freeways, where they are now is very convenient and a LOT larger. The food never changes here,... always great. And yeah, when we got our subs, it was with extra dressing for our sandwich for sure. It got to where they had to make the dressing to sell and take home 😋. Hands down the BEST Italian restaurant in San Diego! Now you have done it!! I'm going tomorrow night to pig out with a torpedo fully dressed, can't wait. Again, an INSANE amount of food!!

I love Italian food so I would be down to try any of those items. Quite a plate of spaghetti. You were so good (as always) to check on the guy next to you when he started coughing. You were a nice support to them the whole time, even providing some tips to finishing. Pretty unique for you to be eating next to the chef himself and of course the former football player! ;) The chef could hear all your positive comments as you ate. :) I like that you still started with your vegetables by going with the sub. ;) Ending with a canoli...perfect. Looked delicious! You commentating on what you felt the guys were thinking XD Cute!

This points out why its always best to mix the sauce through the pasta immediately once its cooked, otherwise, it dries out and clumps up.
