- UPDATE (March 30, 4:15 p.m. ET): Before this report was broadcast, Inside Edition requested a comment from The Covenant School in connection with a statement by its former pastor, Jim Bachmann, that he had heard the shooter, Audrey Hale, had been counseled by its current pastor, Chad Scruggs, and that Scruggs may have been targeted by Hale. After the report was broadcast, we received a statement on behalf of The Covenant School which stated, in part, that the information that Hale was being counseled by Scruggs was “inaccurate” and “based on hearsay."
Targetting an innocent child is the most cowardly, evil thing. Doesn’t matter if the child’s parent did or did not do something to you. It’s absolutely evil.

Still absolutely crazy to see that footage from Uvalde. An active shooter locked in a classroom with small children, and had already killed many of them. And the cops stand outside with their weapons for so long. I am so glad the police in this instance ran in with bravery and took the shooter out in two minutes.
A Mexican Police Chief(Pete Arredondo) was the reason the officers took so long to move in. They were following his orders. In combat, you HAVE to follow orders of your superior. Be mad at he chief if anyone. 🍻

It's crazy that I have to fear going to school. Shouldn't we be worrying about children and not what others do? As a high schooler, I don’t want to wake up and have to worry about getting shot. Stay safe everyone, my heart goes out to the victims and their families.
You should gather with other students and parents to get better protection for schools in action. There needs to be an armed guard at every school, no unlock the doors, only one entrance. Use your voice to speak up and get change !!

As a pastor's daughter, my heart absolutely breaks for her. Being a pastor's kid can be hard naturally. I cannot imagine the feelings her parents have. I've prayed for them this whole week, God bless their souls. How horrible.

I'm not going to disagree... but let's think about what he was counseling her for.... I obviously wasn't there but we know a lot of churches like the idea of conversation therapy etc. So the shooter likely targeted the one thing that would hurt the pastor... probably after years of being hurt by the pastor. There should be an investigation into anything or any relationship the church/school had with the shooter. This will unturn a lot of stones

I am NOT a fan of law enforcement as it's known in America today, and the word "hero" get bandied around so much it's lost it's gravitas, but these men who went in and quickly dispatched the shooter was some of the most heroic stuff I've ever seen. Absolutely zeto hesitation or apprehension, steady, collected, systematic, laser focused, years of training & preparation all leading up to the most significant consequential few moments that will define them for the rest of their lives and they met it head on determined to do what must be done and showed true courage in the face of shear terror so great it has caused lesser men to crumble by the dozens as we witnessed in Uvalde. These men epitomize what it means to be "real men" and have earned the title of HERO & then some they will forever have my utmost respect. Well done men you've made a nation proud.

There’s a reason we still don’t know the motive. Audrey Hale texted a former friend minutes before the shooting and told the friend that she had left behind more than enough evidence for people to find out why. There is a manifesto she wrote and the police will not release it. They won’t even release a redacted version. I am so tired of people feeling sorry for this person. Anyone who kills a child/children should be considered evil.

Just hearing the officer say “Please put your gun down, sir!” (in Uvalde) makes me sick/mad 😡. Seriously? There is no way to “reason” with a cold blooded killer. That wasn’t a time for negotiating. GO IN! Take charge! If you can’t (I certainly couldn’t), then you chose the wrong career. Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS was another horrible example. These officers were absolutely amazing. I don't even live in the same country and my heart is so so heartbroken for you all but also when seeing how these wonderful police officers dealt with the very dangerous situation and so quickly got it under control, my heart also bursts with pride for them.
When all these school shootings happen we also get to hear about them on our news channels and see what type of police action happens. This was the first time I think we can all say with 100% confidence that they couldn't have done anything better! The definitely saved so so many more lifes. Let other police forces take this as a lesson, THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT!!

The pastor of the church relocated to the area fairly recently from Texas- he had virtually no connection to the shooter’s experience as a student at the school
he took over from the retired pastor who was interviewed here
and had ZERO qualifications to be engaging in any kind of therapy except the good old Christian hate of Transgender people. That's why Aiden was hunting for him.
Whatever beef was going on with “the shooter” and “the pastor”, that was between them both. But an innocent child shouldn’t have to pay the price for his/her father’s actions.

😢 can't even relive the Uvalde trauma. So sorry for the families & friends who had to live through this & that personally. Thankful for the brave officers in TN, sadly still some lives were lost, but not nearly as many as Uvalde & I feel in my heart these officers tried their best & didn't coward out.

My mom was a police woman she said she saw the news about this and it just made her heart sink for the kids. she would not have hesitated to do some thing to save those kids lives if she could have. She is a biracial Scottish immigrant to America but came to South Carolina in the 70’s and had 6 kids with my dad I’m the youngest. That’s just awful. Bless you Melissa for what you did.
