  • Yes I know, a lot of you would be wondering why am I getting another Omen 30L, when I already got one, well the short answer is, this is the only way to get RTX3080 without having to spend twice the money and buy it from some scalper online, at least with HP you are getting a whole new configuration with top specs and similar price to a single GPU these days.

I tested using cinebench, 3DMark, a few AAA titles. GPU didn't go above 75Cish even at max usage, with most temps around 70C. CPU didn't go above 82Cish even at max usage, with most temps around 75C. Pretty happy with the temps overall, I did order 2 92MM Arctic F9s and a 1 to 3 splitter and plan to add these on the floor as intake fans. I am on the verge of getting an omen 30l (i9 10900k/rtx 3090/32gb ram) and I can get it at amazing price with my works discount (the 3080 is out of stock, so the overkill 3090 is my only option anyway). I know the RAM/bios is locked, if I swap the MOBO and case, will I still be able to use it all properly? I'm worried about getting something that I can't eventually upgrade. And honestly, does HP's own brand 3090 hold up against the other 3090's in terms of performance. I've added a 120mm between the PSU and the single intake fan pulling air in, configured the AIO to push/pull with a slim Noctua and I really don't see a way to modify this case that won't void your warranty. Nothing has helped, I actually have to leave the door off and that's so damn loud.
      Playing CP2077, Graphics load at 98% at 73-75c and processor at about 30% but running 87-89 is silly. Any game that is graphics intensive in the future and takes up more processing will cause this thing to blow your house up. All of that warm air goes right up to the top, and the sole intake fan is essentially consumed by the graphics card so nothing ambient reaches the radiator, it's all post-graphics card HOT air.

    Thanks for posting this video. I'm a bit late to the party but I was looking for videos on the HP Omen 30L with the RTX3080 for some insight. My father bought the exact model you're featuring in this video and asked me to help him out with it. His unit didn't stay cool. His CPU temps were in the 90 to 97c range under load and 70 to 75c idle. Yes, the fans ramped up so loud it sounded like the rig was going to explode. My dad was really concerned. I recommended sending the computer back for a full refund but he wanted to keep the rig because it has a RTX3080 in it but here's the rub.
    What's the point of paying for a pre-built system with a Core i9, 32GBs of fast RAM and a RTX 3080 if the temps are so high that you can't run it at its full potential if you run it at all? Running at those temps is a great way to nuke your rig. What's the point of paying for a pre-built system when you have to invest even more money to just get it to function properly? It's a kick in the nuts that the Omen 30L RTX3080 has the potential to be a fantastic gaming rig, but because HP cut so many corners that sacrifice cooling, it's a POS rig that's not worth the purchase unless the buyer rips it apart to correct what HP screwed up.

    • @HardwareSense
      @HardwareSense  Před 3 lety +2

      Well the thing is, at today's situation getting a 3080 for that price is still good, considering they are being sold for $2000 on ebay, so investing another $200 for a case and AIO is not a bad idea.

    I wish I read this before I bought my HP Omen 30L. I have mixed feelings and might even take the step of trying to return it. In many ways the Omen is fantastic. Extremely easy to set up, the performance is incredible. It looks great, and during most tasks it is completely silent...most tasks. This PC is marketed as a gaming PC, so I assumed it would be capable of keeping the CPU at acceptable temperatures. While I am not that worried about the CPU running a bit hot, the noice levels is at times completely unacceptable. For most games the noise is just irritating, but for a game like Cyberpunk 2077 it becomes unbearable. My initial plan is to change the 92mm fan in the back with a better one. Thank you for your explanation how to remove the graphics card.But I have a problem, I have installed another graphics card GTX 670 in the omen and nothing, it demounts but no display, I installed another graphics card without power and the same one.
    I haven't installed the 3080 on my other pc yet, I'm waiting for a more powerfull power supply.
    Why doesn't the omen work with another graphic card ?
    And will the 3080 work on my other computer ?

      Hi there, I actually was just debating should I make a video about this as well, as I just recently faced the same exact issue, wanting to test some older GPUs. The fix is very easy, just go to the bios and enable legacy support, there are not too many options there there, so you wont miss it. After that you can install the older card with no issues.
