    Great job! Brought back many memories. I had that exact model, bought new, from 1975-1978. Put 25k miles on it. Biggest trip was 3k miles over 2 weeks from Seattle, Glacier Nat'l Park MT, Yellowstone Nat'l Park WY, Grand Tetons Nat'l Park WY, Craters of the Moon Nat'l Park ID, to Oregon Coast, North up WA coast, then back to Seattle.
    Met my wife of 43 years while I was riding that bike! Took many trips together on it. Moved up to a '78 Yamaha XS1100 in 1978. Thanks for the vid! The color scheme of that bike is still gorgeous after all these years.

    I absolutely love that original paint scheme, it is such an eye catching one! I really like it! KFly67 you are my inspiration to get another CB750 with that paint scheme, you're living my dream brother! Being surrounded by CB750 and there all yours! Lol, such a lucky guy!

    Love those CB750's. I bought one new in 1972 California. I traded in a CB175 I bought from them just 4 months earlier. I took a trip from Sacremento to Las Vegas via Death Valley. I stopped off and changed to 50 weight oil. It was a great trip. At one time I got it up to 110 mph on a straight away. Ran like a top. A year later a AF captain pulled out in front of me and the bike was totaled. I was sent to Thialand so that was the end of that.
    Over the years I wanted another one but spent most off my 21 years overseas. At this time I'm looking for a 750 pre 1980. Before they went to the overhead double cam.

      George Thomas thanks for sharing your story, “tales of the men who rode these machines”! 78’ was the last year of the SOHC engine. Amazing the following these bikes have today with the younger generations.

    Good video. Get a friend and 4 screwdrivers through the mount holes to lift the motor in and out of the frame. I struggled so many times lifting by hand until a friend showed me a better way.

    One reason you saw almost all 750 Honda’s in the 70,s with black cooling fins was to hide the factory defect of the oil leak, both my 71 and 72 leaked, had special Levi’s just when i would ride them so not to mess up all my jeans

    They manufacture a frame modification kit that allows you to remove the valve cover without removing the engine. I am not much for modifications but would install one of those if I had a CB750 SOC.

    Hey Kfly I got a question for you brother how long did it take you to rebuild that engine? I'm very curious because I will be doing the same for my K2 CB750, and how much did you have to put into that motor for the rebuild? and also out of curiosity why didn't you go with a vapor blast since you had it down so far already? I would have done that brother! it would have brought that engine back like brand new!, and by the way brother that bike looks absolutely perfect I love the paint schemes of the 70's, I am so glad you did not restore it to custom, keep it original brother!!! Oh and by the way is there an actual oil seal in that top cover for the tachometer drive? I would absolutely appreciate that info brother

      Joe Deleon Thanks for the comment. I would say it took me about a couple of days on and off with the top end rebuild since I needed to stop periodically for filming. The cylinder base gasket leaked like a Civ. I had all the gaskets I needed already ordered. The cleaning takes a few hours. So a good weekend, a guy could have theirs taken apart and back together. I did not have much info on vapor blasting at the time but recently picked up a micro hone cabinet that I have began to use for recent builds and I agree, it would be a great option for cleaning the parts. Yes, there’s an oil tachometer seal.

    The easiest way to remove the engine in the cb750 is to lay the bike on its side and then pick the frame off the engine. Honda screwed up the design where one could not retorque the heads without removing the engine. Torquing the head was part of scheduled maintenance. Most people chose not to do it and it resulted in leaks.

    Original exhaust....that's rocking horse poop right there. You know that enigne has been rebuilt before......that's not the OEM head gasket.
    My 75 F looked exactly like that many years ago....now it has 107 horsepower. czcams.com/video/2FeFCLBcIg8/video.html

      Felipe Pereira thanks, yes its called industrial purple cleaner, has to be diluted with water. Sold at home depot.

    Hey brother I have a question is there a rubber o-ring or oil seal that is supposed to go in where the speedo drive connect to the top cover? I'm wondering because I got a good amount of oil leaking from that spot but there is no oil seal inside, is it supposed to go on the inside of the valve cover?

      Joe Deleon yes, there’s a black seal the size of a dime that is pressed in and seats nicely in there. They tend to go bad over the years. A small flat blade can pry it out and then use a small socket to press new one back in.

      @@KFLY67 in order to replace it do you need to take off the valve cover completely and replace it from the inside? Or does it press in from the outside of the cover right where the cable connection goes?

    Strange that you did nothing to the valves. It's the exhaust valve guides that are the first things to wear out. This doesn't look like a top end rebuild, just a cleaning.

      Michael Tanghe it’s the famous CB750 timing chain sound.

      @@KFLY67 Nope. There is no "famous timing chain sound" It's the primary chain slap that rattles the clutch. Goes away if in gear with clutch disengaged.
