Honda CB350F Sat For 34 Years! - Will It Run Again?

- Heres my CB350F I found in a barn that had sustained a fire. Bike was un-scathed. Watch and see if it will run again!
Under $70 was only spent in new parts and materials which includes: New Fuel line and Gas filter, Spark plugs, New battery, Carb cleaner, Baking Soda, Sandblasting sand, Fresh gas, New Dot 4 Brake fluid, Motor oil 10W40, New clutch cable. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I have a 1974 CB350 Four that sat for 7-8 years and ended up doing a re sync of the carbs and flushed out all the fluids, new spark plugs and wires and she fired right up... What A Beautiful Machine!!!
Still watching the ad, but I will bet it runs. Co-incidentally, when I tested many years ago for my motorcycle licence, the only person I knew who was able to ride with me under the restrictions was my 84 year old grandfather, and his steed at the time, was a beautiful 350 Four like this one. It's one of the most treasured memories I have of him, he taught me so much about motorcycling and life in general, I miss him everyday. RIP Grampa
Most of those 1970s Honda bikes will last for generations if they're cleaned up regularly because they're built so simple that hardly anything can break. And the sound is just so much better than any of those supersport bikes you hear on the road today.
Well...simple...look at that carb!!!
My first bike was a '71 Honda 350 Four. I bought it in 1985 for $150. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Mr. Honda's CB series escalated motorcycling to a new dimension. These are among the most beautifully engineered/manufactured motorcycles of all time. Thank you Mr. Honda and your engineering team for your gift.
That exact bike served me faithfully for 5 years through college. It was a wreck when I got it and did the same quick rebuild to get it running and usable. What a trip down memory lane! My roommates had a bet that I couldn't successfully rebuild those carbs.
Nice to see one running again.
Very cool,
I did something similar back in the early 1960's with a 1949 Cushman motor scooter I found in an elderly ladies garage. It had been parked since about 1952 when her husband died. It was not as involved as it was a singular cylinder and carb with a magneto but I rode it for a long time. Best part was I was 14 years old and cut her lawn weekly, she let me have it FREE and I worked it off
Old Honda never die!
When my buddy and I were 12, we had small Honda 50cc motorcycles and we road around the his father's field every summer racing and feeling like hell's Angel's. In 1970 when my buddy and I were both 16, he bought a brand new red/white Honda CB350 twin cylinder. He got his license in the spring since his birthday was in January. Mine was in August and I had a CB160 at the time. I remember him taking off down the road and all I could do is watch green with envy. I got my motorcycle license that September but summer was over. But I remember that CB350 he had like it was only yesterday. That bike was amazingly fast! A couple years later Honda came out with the CB350 4 cylinder. I never road one but I couldn't imagine it being any faster than that 350 he had. We were kids, and the memories linger. Time is fleeting
good ol memories Sir !!
the 350 twin was faster..but damn the four was a smooth runner
So the 350 twin was actually faster than the four? Curious
@@TheNewenglandboys ...i had a 72 CB 350 and a 71 SL 350....a buddy had a 68 CL 350..another had a 350 Four...the SL was quicker till about 50 mph..the 72 and the 69 about head to head till 80..then the 72 inched ahead..the four was heavier..but was so much smoother and refined..nice around town and canyon bike
@@mattf49006 Cool! That's interesting thanks
If that little Honda could talk, it would probably say, "Aww jeeze...thanks guys." Outstanding work.
Alex Miller Hey thanks for the great comment! I believe it’s speaking that every time I run the little beast down the road!
I had one these and it looked just like that one. It was the same color and everything.Mine even had the 4 into two exhaust also. I could park it over the winter and next spring all you had to do was turn on the ignition, set the choke and barely bump the starter button and the engine was running. It was the greatest little bike I ever had. When I let other people ride it they were stunned by the gobs of low end torque that the engine produced. I could only get it to top out at 105mph but the low end take off was amazing. This video brought back a lot of found memories for me. Thanks for posting.
Cool
I had a76 cb400f 4 into 1 header.6 speed trans.Traded it on a new 78 750. BOTH great bikes.Trouble free.
I have a 1973 the same color. I bought it new . I still have it. It still runs. It made a trip across the united States In 1976. It ran 80,85 mph all day long In 114 degree temps. Smooth ride no vibration in fact this motorcycle was one of the most smoothest motorcycles ever made. Made in 1972 and 1973..... Mine has Jordene tuned headers and was rejetted. 10,000 rpm redline it only weighs about 375 lbs. Power to weight ratio make this a fun bike to ride.....
'74 was the last year for this model. I couldn't imagine riding one of these cross country, not even when I was young! This 350 made more HP than any of Honda's twin 350s...
My first Bike was a 1974 350-4. It was red like this one and I miss it like a brother. It was my only means of transportation and I rode it to and from work year round for 2 years, rain snow, sun or sleet. I put 26,000 miles on that little boy and it treated me well.
Great work. These Hondas last for ever. Incredible bikes. Keep up the good work. Honda rider in Malta.
And the dead shall rise again!
Loved these early multi-cylinder 4 strokes. In my riding days I always wanted a nice 350/550-4.... but got turned on to rice burners instead, so..... went out and bought a brand spanking new Yamaha RD 400(‘76) and IMO, nothing else is equal to the sound of a 2 stroke engine coming into it’s powerband. Still, the last bike I drove was the classic Honda CB900F Super Sport (‘83) and I put plenty o’miles on that baby! Thanks for the memories 🏍🏍
dont you ride now?
beriOberi1 Well, it got too bloody expensive to put a plate on the bike so , after much grousing about it and adding up the pro’s and con’s, I sold/ passed it on to another older gent. And as for now, health wise , I’m not in any shape to get on a bike , as far as I see from here. 😢. My brother is still riding at 62, has himself a nice Harley all decked out in Screamin’ Eagle pipes and parts. Pretty nice. Maybe maybe one fine day.....
@@MichaelandCathy1999 So nice to hear from you. Wao, what i see in you is just an older version of myself. I have been riding bikes since my teen. And i have done cross country and off roading. and long distances as well. I have done hills, have done deserts and done pretty much all kind of terrians. Im not yet much hold. But got all my hairs grey now. But still i got a bike and go to get the same feelings as im in my teens. riding a bike makes me feel young again.
I have decided to start a excercise to get fit without any offs. and soon i ll be good to go on bike. You should try too. Do some activities, no day off, and in a month or soo you will fee strong again. Key point is punctuality.
Wishing you to be on the bike again on that fine day :)
This was my first bike. It did my heart good to watch this. I had a lot of fun and some good adventures on mine. I swore back then that those 350CB's were damn near indestructible. 40mph/4000rpm in 4th gear iirc (but it's been several decades).
Who could be that cruel to leave a motorcycle alone in a barn for 34 years. It needs to stretch out on the roads in its lifetime. She looked proud when she was back on the road. Thanks. ☺️
In England we only got the 400/4. I bought an old one from a friend's sister soon after I left school. I used to cruise around the country lanes all day pretending I was in Chips. Great fun, still miss that little bike 40 years on.
My old man bought a new Honda 750 Four super sport in the mid 70's, from Fletchers in Leeds. Think it was 1976, so to say we only had the 400/4 is a bit misleading. They had a 500 twin and i think a 550 four too, though I'm not 100% on that.
@@Jooeffoh I meant that we got the 400 as opposed to the 350 in the States.
I had a blue '71 CB350F in high school. Wasn't as cool as the kids with camaros or mustangs, but I loved that little bike.
I bet you had more fun though
Way cooler yes :)
I have a 76 CB400F that's beeen sitting for many years in storage. This video has inspired me to begin the restoration. Thanks for sharing!
Gil Anderson Great! Glad to hear!
Wow, that brought back a lot of memories from my college days with the same bike! For a midget like me, it was quite beefy for a 350, too, and fun to ride. Thanks for the memories, my brother!
Years ago, my wife had one of these 4 cylinder bikes and it ran like a well oiled sewing machine. It has a beautiful basic design.
What a beatifull job on this old lady, she is so happy to roll again! thanks for the video!
Great to watch! Well done! If that bike had been stored in England for that length of time it would have fought you all the way!
Love the workmanship, didnt think about the soda blasting.
Totally jealous. Great little bikes even if underpowered. Good ol' Honda reliability makes getting things running again as easy as possible.
I like that you went for a mechanical restoration and not a full rebuild to better than new quality, lovely bike - beautiful sound.
Came here after watching Mustie1 spruce up his. =)
Mustie1 is fer sure the man
This had me crying. Nice video, perfect backing track and absolutely excellent work! salute.
Sweet little bike. I am still kicking myself in the rear for not taking one of these for nothing a few years back. I thought, what the heck am I going to do with that. What a mistake.
This was the bike that tought me to ride , nice to see one back and still running, after this one I had about 25 bikes in 43 years, thx for showing !
I've got an old 70's Honda CB750 in my barn (non- runner ) , but I was riding my "81" Yamaha single in the past years 😀 , Great video .
Had one early 80's in New Zealand, never missed a beat....👍
Nice work sir. Beautiful little machine. Keep it original. Paint "patina" looks great.
Maybe a fork oil change and a valve clearance check to finish it would be a good idea.
Such a wonderful job mate! Thanks for bringing her back to the future! Amazing!
One of these was my first bike, back in '85. Brings back memories to hear one running again. Thanks for posting.
Nice! I owned a Honda CB350f ‘76 from ‘90 until ‘10. Nice bike. This video brings back good memories
Nice job,So much fun/satisfaction fixing up an old forgotten bike. I've been restoring my 1976 CB550K it is a blast to ride.
This motorcycle has the best engine sound ever! Here in Brazil, as like in most countries, it is a legend and a dream! God bless you man! thanks for share it with us!
You should have heard it with the original 4-pipe exhaust!
love old school Japanese bikes, simple and classy on its own. Old school bikes across the board cool as ever!!!
I had been working 2 paper routes for 2 years, saving up for a Honda XL125, when my dad spots a 2 year old CB350F in the newspaper for sale for $600. I really want a dual-sport, but dad wants me to check this out. I fell in love. At 14 - nearly 2 years before I could get a license, I bought my first motorcycle. Dad would ride me down to the schoolyard, where I would practice using the clutch, shifting, braking, and eventually all the other skills I'd need to pass my test. That was a great bike. I once rode with a group of Gold Wing touring bike riders, and had no problem keeping up with them, despite their spirited pace.
Before I got my license, my dad would ride the bike to work occasionally. When I got my license and could start riding it regularly, he had to get his own bike. But by then the 350 Four had been replaced by the 400 Supersport, so that's what he got. And he hated the low handlebars. He got the bars from a 750, and I got the low bars for my 350F. We were both happy. I rode quite a bit with my dad. Good times.
Thanks for stirring up some fond memories, and thanks for bringing another 350 Four back from the dead.
you one lucky guy..hope you enjoy every moment with your family
My dad got me a used D-43 Swedish Suck Machine. Rocked it well into my college years. Good times.
Never forget fond memories with your dad, everyone does not get the chance to do so.
Excellent job love to see these bikes of my youth being brought back to life well done.
The engine sounds still great, no smoke. Great job.
you give her LIFE...
after 34 years sat on a barn, HONDA reliability speaks now
and you did awesome crafty work
Mohammad B. Thank you!
Just came across this video and it brought back some great memories. In 1982, I made my first long distance motorcycle tour from Virginia to Daytona Beach for Bike Week with four other guys. I was riding a 1981 Honda CB750K. One of the others was on a CB350F his father had found not long before our trip. It looked just like the one in this video but cleaner, with a four-into-one exhaust and standard seat. His dad was along on the ride on his 1977(?) CB750F Super Sport. Before we left they went over the 350F refreshing fluids, checking valve adjustment and doing a compression check. They slapped a big Plexiglas windshield on it and off we went. I remember the sound of the single exhaust header screaming smoothly as he flew down I-95 and I-26 with the throttle pinned in top gear. The bike ran like it was new and without any problems on the nearly 1,400 mile round trip. An impressive little jewel!!
Could have been mine. I'm from md., bought a sportster and like a dummy sold the 350F. I keep it cherry. Wish I knew what I do now, I'm 63 yrs old.
Mike, does that person still have the 350F?
Mike Bowers
Mike, I have no idea. Haven’t talked to the owner in years and not sure he’s still in my area. Should I come across it, I’ll let you know.
@@mikeabbott7591 Thank You Mike. I Appreciate It!
Ahh the memories. My 1st new bike in 74 was a 350F, in high school I had the 2nd biggest bike. Traded it for my 2nd new bike a 78 CB750K. Now I have a 72 CB350F project bike in the shop. So much of what you show is still so familiar. Thanks.
This made my day and brought back memories.
Mike Dandurand Thanks, I’m glad It did!
I never knew that Honda made a 350four,my dad had a 400four in the late 70s and I loved that bike.well done to you for finding and fixing up this lovely classic bike.
The 400 came after the 350. Honda looking for more torque
I will always remember the CB350F for being a trail blazer. I owned a Yamaha, but I respected the bike that began the change to four cycle engines. We weren't arrogant then, and starter bike wasn't in our vocabulary. We bought what we could afford, and had the best of times riding it. That doesn't exist today when fine motorcycles are described in terms that I don't understand.
Great job on this beautiful 350 four from the 70's :-)
Good to see a good old bike brought back to life!
Nice looking little motorcycle.
My ride is 22, it may be old, but it’s MINE!
Nice one, it looks like a fun bike.
Thumbs up!
When riding a bike, make sure to always wear your safety crocs.
what a sweet little Honda... having a CB900 in my garage waiting for the same procedure....
Get on it bro, great bike, mines a 750, ongoing work
@@jeffrygagnon5506 howdy, yeh mines a 1980 750C.still gotta mess with the electrical, the wiring harness came all apart when I took off the headlight, bit of a pain to figure out all the wiring as it looks like the last owner replaced the whole headlight, fix the rusty seat and redo the fuet tank.
It's a pleasure watching someone execute what they are good at. Bravo
just beautiful, i started tearing up. Mr. Honda would be proud.
Here's a Cheer for a old friend many years ago LES GULLEN Had a bike Just like that one He was only Seventeen when he died on it. Beautiful bike though Reliable
This would be worth a full resto. Very good underestimated motorcycle. A friend used to race one for years in Post Classic 500cc class and was extremely reliable. Candy red is the best color.
Red bikes are always fastest
The four cyl 350 was smoother idling and running than the two cyl as well.
@@erichuff3135 2 cylinders rose and fell together but as they reached the top one or the other would fire so there was no wait on the exhaust stroke for power as the other cylinder was under power at the same time. Lot of food for thought there in comparison to a 2 stroke twin. the small bore and stroke should put it against a 175 2 stroke twin on the dyno, technically both firing the same except the Honda is using 4 cylinders to get the same result. Like I said just a thought. All the fours were smooth runners.
@@26TptCoy I own the two-cylinder 350 and it's a finicky engine. It can run just fine on one cylinder but have no power. I have never owned a bike that can do that. But if one cylinder is having problems (carbs, ignition etc) it goes from great power to a complete dog. But it will idle like nothing is wrong. I have only owned 4 cyl CB, XJ etc before this current bike so this is all new to me. I will say the bike is light, simple and powerful when tuned in.
@@erichuff3135 I had a 750/4 do the same when a coil failed, usually during rain, and it would idle. When I gave it throttle it started spluttering and had no power so I would be riding the clutch to keep it moving. It was fighting the compression of the cold cylinders. If you want to try something, remove a plug and see if it makes a difference with no compression, may get the fuel mix coming out of the plug hole though. I had a few 250 twins and never had any real problems. The older 250/350's now are being sought for cafe style builds.
Rode one of those in my younger years. Loved it!
I remember the thrill of rescuing a motorcycle from a garage or backyard and bringing it back to life. Good times, damn, good times.
Looks pretty clean for a 40yr old bike. Mine was a shed in comparison. Good on you, they get to 5k before the cam kicks in. Love it
Seafoam works wonders. 10 years my 1976 360 sat. Carbs gum up in the little tiny holes. Seafoam cleaned it out. Had a similar problem in 1976 with a Suzuki X6 but even with a week of carb soak I had a dead spot in the low speed circuit.
Nice job ,lovely to see it work and ride again
Original tools and owner's manual! Score!! Ra, New Zealand! Cheers!
A very most impressive score ! , I find it neat to find such treasures . I got the tool kit in my "82" ,450 Nighthawk , I bought used .
Beauty in every detail!
👏 A emoção do saudosismo, em ver uma motoca abandonada em um canto, voltar a rodar, não tem preço !!!... é como se ter a chance de uma VIDA NOVA !!!
Awesome to se her back on the road! Good work man! I had a brand new yello F model like the one in background
Loved it. And I love that CB350. Great work on it and thanks for preserving such an iconic bike. I Love Hondas
Nice to see you give this old girl the TLC she needed and put her in running condition.
Great find ! The CB350 was one of the slickest smoothest and running engines ever made. It is a jewel of and engine and only has 11,000 miles wow.
nope its a gutless pig
I followed from the beginning. Excellent job bro!
Thanks for showing this nostalgic bike.
Watching this vintage bike come back to life made me happy.
I’m a big fan of vintage motorcycle Salvations
Thumb up for sure !!
Excellent, lovely 350. And good thing you opted for the safety crocs for the first ride.
Don't forget the Kevlar shorts, armored T-shirt and the bare hands so he could hold on for dear life...you can't be too cautious when riding around on 40-year-old tires.
I was thinking the same thing.lol
He did have a helmet though 😁
It was a good video until the crocs and shorts. Put on some shoes and pants man.
@@ahorsewithnoname643 Oh, man! A helmet. A coward, after all.
Despite all the effort people made to destroy these bikes, these things were built to last! Congrats!
Thank you for your video. I had forgotten about the 350 4. Now my age shows.
She lives! What a cool little bike :-)
I had a similar experience with an XL185 that hadn't run in 25 years. Makes you believe in their motto "It's a Honda".
Mike Daniel Yeah, I got a 77 xr75 sitting in my folks backyard that I need to dig out of the briars. The make definitely has to do with it and reason why the car company is so successful today.
Thats a real gem you have there. Very complete, origanal, and rare, better hang on to it.
I learned how to ride on one of them. Originally came with a four into four exhaust system. Found memories, wish i still had it.
I wish you would have tested it to a higher rev. The sound they make after 7 grand is absolutely vicious and seems like it's punching above its weight. Had one in 1975 and it never let me down ... the only difference between yours and what I had is a four into one exhaust ... Nicely Done Sir ... Nicely Done .. :)
Great story about one of the best looking and sounding bikes that Honda ever made. I enjoyed your meticulous approach to getting the bike running. I hope that you are still riding and enjoying it, wearing aleather jacket and boots. ;o)
Great video, lovely bike, hope you put new tyres on it 😎, when you get the new tyres, please show in a short video 👍😎, pww of Hull, UK
The 350 four was a sweet little bike !
Excellent find. It's hard to kill a Honda.
I have a CB125 Twin Superdream 1983 to restore, It sounds close to this one (Love that sound) Best of all i recognise some parts are almost the same!
Honda CBxxx- engines are some of the most reliable ever made.
Great video! Thank you!
I had a CB400 twin and then a CB360CL twin with the upswept exhaust pipes to make it a bit more off road capable I guess. Loved them both. The view of the bike as you were riding brought back memories. Wish I hung on to those as I'd love to ride them today.
Honda quality. You could probably have just pressed the starter and ridden off. Amazing bikes. I've been a Honda owner for 45 years.
Awesome vid, shows what a little elbow grease can bring back to life.
I just bought a 72 that's all original sitting in a barn for 25 years I put diesel in the head and cylinders and crank even though it was free to ensure good lubrication and replaced the plugs and put a carb kit in just got it running today
Hope one day I'll get this baby
Love the sound of this motor
Honda is the most relaible bike in the world ,, well done 👍
J
Great job! Love those bikes!
Very clean find! Great score
What a sweet wee bike . That wee bike will run forever
Kudos what a great vid my first bike as a kid and loved it cheers
C90's were (still are) run on for years and this is basically four of 'em in unison! Was there ever any doubt it would run? Probably still be running in another 34 years when most of the new bikes have curled up and died.
Nice work mate, but PLEASE go look for a stock seat. 😁
impressive, great job dude!!
After watching this you gave me the courage to go and get one of these old bikes and do the San I am old but these bike were cool when I was a little kid on nyc in the 70s
rabbit That is awesome 👏
Had this exact model. Loved that motorcycle.
i had a cl360 and that bike was a workhorse, love the old hondas, wish i had that bike, good job!
