YEP, weird huh?
Yep... Mexico... on the trail.
Then matt instantly outs yah @ 18:50 for going 80
PA Antique vanity plates TAX1 and T4X1 are available. Just sayin'.
Matt is machine gunning info the whole episode. That looks like a fun car to roll around town in and just enjoy life. Nice work gentlemen!
Icecream and elevens.
@@wobblysauce Let the man cook!
Remember, kids: Matt Happle will not tune your car.
...unless he wants to.
Sloppy can...
HAHA TIME FOR CRAZY EFI SCIENCE
Love to see the Crazy Taxi, sad to see the Falcon is gone
It's gone to a better place, rip, revs in peace.
Same
Looks like he does good work. I wonder if Matt would tune my car.
Can we respect the T FIVE SIXTY? ALL HAIL THE GLORIOUS THINKBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK
Distant the offspring music*
Ikr! Everytime i see a crazy taxi video, all i want starts playing in my head!
"yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah"
Always doing the interesting stuff over here at RCR. Unmatched, unrivaled. Good show my friend
Interesting to hear him targeting a standard 15:1 AFR (I've heard 14.7:1 is considered optimal) for an older car. I run my '53 Land Rover 80" at a richer 13:1, as older cars can pull in more oxygen through worn throttle shafts. Guess a carburetor swap-out resets everything to factory new!
If your worn throttle shaft was pulling in more air your AFR would be leaner. Running your truck at 13:1 is just dumping fuel into your engine.
You can't properly tune a car with air leaks.
Never try and tune around mechanical issues.
depending on a lot of factors like, fuel atomisation, wall wetting and intake manifold design, you can easily get up into the 15s before getting lean misfires. personally i stick to the 14-14.7ish area initially on these throttle body injection type setups to account for uneven air/fuel flow to certain cylinders.
tbh nothing bad is going to happen being that lean at such low load and rpm.
Hes targeting 15.1 because the car is under low load it needs very little fuel to run
Matt definitely knows his stuff!!
ngl this became charlie brown's teacher if you don't know anything about the specific software.
YA YA YA YA YA!
It's really cool what we can do with an old engine and a modern injection system. Having a lambda sensor would help a lot to self regulate the mix IMHO, I don't know why they don't include at least the option to use it in most models
the sniper does have a wideband sensor. its how it does fuel correction and "learn" values
You don't even need a new injection system. Go look up Thunderhead289's Carb Cheater, it's basically a controllable air leak and oxygen sensor that can in real time feather the AFR of a carburetor, it's really neat.
@@nismofreak33 Ah, cool. Nice to hear that!
OK, so that was confusing as hell. In the immortal words of Gordon Liddy, it’s all ball bearings these days!
It's mat happle tune time baby & happle tuned everywhere
Matt Happle is the EFI wizard.
As far as the fuel tank pulling air, is this a case where that Holley Hydramat style pickup would compensate? The mat acts as a buffer for fuel pickup to the pump, and increases the surface area you can pull from as far as the pump inlet. If you can get a tank already set up and fit (even after some mods) I think that always comes out ahead money wise,, but Hydra has bandaided some weird mutant configa
Yep, works well but some installations can be tricky.
I’ve been rather tempted to take my 1999 4Runner in for a tune, but then I wonder if it’s actually needed.
I was listening to the Persona 4 soundtrack this better be good
weeb
Make sure you have spiral core spark plug wires not solid core.
It’s so odd because I know how tuning works in theory but the way it’s done, there are so many variables into play.
I’m also curious if he will tune this car differently in the winter time since it gets a lot colder up there than in GA.
at compensation should take care of most of it and he shouldn't have to adjust the fuel table once its dialed in. only the correction tables should really be touched to bring it back in line for seasonal compensations. obviously there are some areas you simply cannot tune accurately, like startup enrichment, unless your in those actual real world conditions, ie blistering heat or very very cold conditons. 🙂
Big fan!
Hang on, does the giveaway end tonight or on the 24th?
Site says the 24th so I'm guessing this might have went out a couple days earlier than expected
@@Ghostbody Yeah, that makes sense
Looks like a 4 barrel with extra steps
I respect the technology and science behind dyno tuning, but it should be treated as a baseline. Real life situations will be different, road conditions, incline, weather, gas quality and much more will come into play. Expect to fine tune the final tune to satisfy the butt dyno. Learn data is an important tool. If someone is not an enthusiast, I don't see them going along with the quirks of the system without being frustrated. I still prefer a well sized and tuned carburetor for older cars.
hi matt 🙂
I never knew there was a special gas tank for fuel injection...
But that ending…..
Interesting this goes on rcr not rcr2
Or just don’t run the tank below 1/8th. 🙃. IMHO.
Not exactly DIY when tuning unless you know what you're doing
No mental illness in this one! 👍Think I will resub for now...
yay
