Great video! Pinky pressure is a game changer. Not only does it help with tendonitis, but it also keeps your wrist locked out on your primary hand and has the biomechanics that allows you to use your trigger finger without using your other fingers. This helps right-handed shooters from milking the gun which causes low and left shoots.
I started dry firing as I heard that and 'angle the wrists to the top of the gun'....immediate improvment on slight muzzle movements.
Beast
Cant get any better than JJ Racaza. Great video thank you for the golden nuggets.
JJ is awesome.. thank you both !!
HOLY COW! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I've been searching for advice on how to speed up my shooting accurately to take it to the next level and the information you gave on speed shooting was absolutely what I've been looking for. Can't wait to give it a go at the range this weekend! Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Really good presentation! Thanks JJ and Mickey
started this about 1.5 yr now. its make a HUGE difference. a lot of people never talked about this.. so glad more people are starting to see this and get better
This was so interesting and informative, really great conversation for newer and advanced shooters looking to create the perfect, repeatable grip. I'm sharing this immediately.
I appreciate the vid Mickey, JJ is da man!!!
Two of the nations best 👑👑💪🏼🇺🇲
Greatly appreciated sharing your experience and knowledge
Thank you so much JJ and Mickey. I will definitely try this technique this weekend
Awesome! I recently started doing the “twist in” maneuver with my grip and immediately noticed a big difference. Good stuff.
I've found out, in anything I do. It's the small details that count. Thanks for the great video. Keep them coming, I'll watch everyone I can.
super informative and interesting from the master himself! JJ is dope
Thank you Mick and JJ for the excellent info on the pinky finger and turning your wrist in 👍🏼
Outstanding. JJ is a great trainer.
MSP introduced me to using the pinky pressure to control recoil in his RDS course. It's really helped me make a major leap forward in maintaining accuracy at speed (not that I'm a master class shooter or anything). This is great stuff. Thank you for sharing with us!!
Man, his forearms are so defined that you can actually see his muscle relax when he does it! Superb bro! Thanks for the tips…
Such a fantastic video. Huge Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!!! Really enjoyed information!!
Awesome video and guest!!!
I’m obsessed with grip . Watch a lot of techniques. That twisting in of the wrist , instead of elbows . Definitely going to try that.
Awesome tip guys. I like the torque suggestion. I just tried and it does work for me. Thank you so much!
Great video, thank you guys.
I remember another trainers comments about making sure one’s little finger was engaged in the grip. Nice to see advice, coincide.😊 thanks for the video
Just tried this, and IT WORKS!
Thank you for sharing! Can’t wait to hit range and test out this whole pinky tightening🇺🇸💪🔫👌
Great vid, thanks for sharing it
I seen the twist refer to as pulling an upside-down horse shoe slightly apart. It has worked for me, but now I need to focus on the 2 shot quick drill to see how far apart the shots are. Great intel and I appreciate the intel.
Thanks for the great video. JJ is a cool dude and love watching his videos. Thanks again!
Excellent video!
Wow amazing new techniques i need to try. Pinkie and the wrists twist.
I'm going to have to try this method.
Thanks for the great video. As I get older I have to focus more on my grip. I have some new ideas to practice at the range next time.
I just walk around aimlessly, asking people to let me open jars for them.
The first pro shooter that didn't say you have to hold the gun the same as him. Not everyone grips the same because everyone doesn't have the same hands. Enjoyed watching
Great information!
Excellent…thank you!
At 63 and retired military, I’m a first-time gun owner but not new to operating firearms. Ever since I bought a compact carry P365 and a full-size HK VP9 OR six months ago I’ve been suffering from tendonitis in my dominant arm from daily dry firing. I can’t thank you enough, JJ, for sharing your experience with it and, most important, the cause and the remedy. After watching yesterday, I got my VP9 out and can already feel the difference from applying pressure with my pinky and relaxing the middle and ring fingers. Also incorporated the torque by pronating both hands and can’t wait to get to the range to see how it improves muzzle flip. Love your videos, am in awe of your shooting, and love hearing your stories of the family competition with your dad. Cheers.
PS-the pinky thing is difficult to impossible with the small grip on the SIG. I recently bought two 17-round mags for it, which is fine for the range, but not for carry.
This is great content
Thank you so much,
I did a quick dryfire with wrists canned in it felt weird but so much stronger thanks for the tip
Thank you
A lot of Practice makes a perfect shot.😊
Its pretty wild that I learned to shoot a pistol on that range maybe a mile from my house! Very Oak like 😎
The twist wrist technique I heard of first by Bob Vogel with his deathgrip videos 10:years ago. Tried it but never felt comfortable and caused a lot of tension in my muscles. I do elbow lift instead ( elbows not locked) which also give you the same effect but less tension.the pinky technique is very effective since it increases leverage to mitigate muzzle rise. I didn’t hear JJ talk about the left hand pinky but that would even add to the mitigating effect even more. Also if you use a push pull technique ( like Eric grauffel) you can benefit by having more pressure on the lower part of the hand in my opinion
Excelente conteúdo 👏👏👏🇧🇷
Trying implement more of the twisting motion talked about at the end but it hurts my wrists a lot
Using pinky is not only easier on your arm but is also better recoil management since it’s the furthest point from barrel and provides better stability
I'm a revolver shooter and have same grip when shooting semi handguns, high ride and thumbs not extended and able to manage recoil pretty well....
I was wondering why my arm hurt 😂 thank youuu 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
The pinky pressure principle has been around for a very long time. In fact, it is also the correct way to utilize swordsmanship skills. Westerner's generally use the thumb, index, and middle finger for grabbing power, and I believe that is likely because we don't have a very dominate swordsmanship culture and the knowledge was practically lost in the western world after the renaissance age. As JJ came to realize, the thumb and pinky are the two best options. The pinky allows for a lot of dexterity, which is one of the reasons smaller guns suck to shoot with.
Maybe this will sound strange ; High and tight BUT what feels natural for a starter.
I started recently with pistols and a grip "high and tight" the gun would still flop in my grip, Once I grabbed High enough (felt more natural but looks stupid) that my pinky was on the grip more. It would stick and the support hand is just to stabilize and support aim. " Twisting the grip" Higher elbows uses body mechanics to lower recoil and lessens stress on the muscle and tendon also. ( tip from an 8x world champ shooter ) Whats great to see is JJ's grip in shooting, the tendon buildup in the elbow is a block
Love to see someone break down the grip when a lefty uses an M9 style pistol. Sadly I’m left handed. Just curious if it changes cause of the trigger bar
I focus on thumb beaver tale and pinky on handle
Can someone tell me what holster he uses?
Watch his eyes. He never blinks when the gun is fired.
My thoughts when watching it. It's still one of my biggest problems. I watched a video of myself shooting, and it was embarrassing.
Ah man, I dig this a lot, but that twisting into the grip is what has been causing my elbow tendinitis to flare up which causes me to cease everything for a couple weeks and let it return to normal. But that does absolutely help with torquing down and managing recoil! My elbows just suck :(
OMG… I need that brass mower
Please discuss trigger squeeze , role, or press what ever term that appropriately describes it
Pinky - Thats How walther market the pdp grip
The tendonitis thing had me shooting a lot less, I'll give this a go.
Wow
I really like that machine at the end, but how would that work on a gravel/dirt outdoor range? I think it would pick up allot of stones
yeah not really for that scenario
Great video...most people doing an ad lib video cannot speak every word that races into their brain so cognizantly...but he does.
Brasil acompanhando. Mesmo um atirador habilidoso com Racaza, tem dificultdade de manter o alinhamento da arma nos tiros rápidos. Basta ver que a arma não mantém a visada inicial, devido ao recuo.
👍👍👍
🔥👍💪🏼💯
What do you do when your follow-up shots are dipping low?
I believe that's more of a trigger jerk or flinch. My second shot is usually low left, but tightening up the grip with the twist he described definitely improves it. Lots of dry fire doesn't hurt either.
@JOROM90 that could be. If I slow down to my 15-20 yd speed they keyhole. It maybe a mental thing on my trigger when rapid firing at close range shots. I have heard that changing recoil springs can keep the gun from dipping. I have changed springs with no change.
@mattwolf9188 I can be pretty accurate with a slow tempo as well, but it falls apart when I speed it up. I'm pretty certain my biggest problem is a pretty significant flinch/poor recoil timing.
I've only shot stock guns, and I'm trying to get good as is before modifying to mask my weaknesses. I'm sure some would help.
Have you tried dry firing at your target right after a double tap group where your second shot dipped? That can show you if you're flinching and can also help you get rid of it.
Try doing a few dry shots between mags.
Funny how everyone underestimates how hard it is to shoot well. It's no joke..haha
I'm a physics guy, engineer, so noticed it early on in my shooting that I use my pinky for leverage. The only thing is the rest of my mechanics are dog water so obviously not even a thousandth the shooter of JJ.
How in the world did he get to the point where his eyes doesn't close when he shoots?
19:11 long video? Intentional?
Good thing he's not fat like 90% of gun owners. You could actually see the specific muscles being shown and used in real time 😂
When you twist the wrist in to put pressure higher up, how do you keep the bottom side of your support hand on the grip? Mine comes up a bit and I can’t keep it down because it causes pain in the bottom of my support hand wrist. Anyone else have this issue?
🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Just found this. I can't believe there is someone who thinks JJ wouldn't easily smash a Ninja and have a beer with him like "sorry I had to teach you that lesson young fella, broken necks can heal."
hey my bro's , i am a new sub for ya here n i am a u.s. marine vet here 93' to 97' active ! n only have email here , def wanna talk more , thanks n talk soon > tom !
Sir , it isn't that those people are smarter than you , they are just more educated on different subjects than you .
Presentation and info just ok. Behavior questionable. AF service medal vet signing off. Yes please cut the camera.
Berreta suck
Just like ya motha
guys a supposed pro shooter and maybe fed leo and he doesnt know correct term for slide release....next
That Beretta is so hot!!
I can’t wait to get on the range and try the twist! Thanks, JJ!
