I walked my final path, to my journeys end, and though I know I’ll find her again.. far on the other side. Until our souls reunite once more, tell her I wasn’t scared to walk into the night.

I actually stumbled upon this piece when I was lying on my deathbed with COVID back in April, honestly the only thing on my mind was the fear of never being able to see her again. This comment section here actually gave me some hope.

She breathed in, balling her hands into fists. Her eyes narrowed in determination, and she looked over at me.
"The war has begun. I will fight to protect my kingdom."
She looked down at the gold necklace she wore, and smiled.
"But I will fight to protect her as well."
Our eyes met, and her smile grew. Her golden hair caught the rays of orange sunlight as the sun set.
"Are you sure this is what you want?"
She nodded, and I knew this wouldn't be the end. She always had a plan. As long as I had known her, she had never been one to act reckless.
A tear rolled down her cheek.
"She really has grown up."
She reached up to her golden circlet that lay on her head, and took it off, gazing at it fondly.
"It belongs to her now."
She handed me the crown.
"My dearest friend. You have done more than enough. I hope that soon, you shall finally get the ending you deserve."
I held the crown tightly in my left hand as she spoke: "Tell her that I love her. She is brave, but her fear sometimes makes her forget that."
More tears rolled down her cheeks, but still her smile remained. Her hair flowed freely, no longer secured by the crown.
"She shall rule my kingdom well - she shall be the first queen in many years to rule over two kingdoms. But I knew this day would come. She is timid, yet her bravery and kindness rivals that of any other. The perfect queen to bring our kingdoms together, and bring peace to this broken world."
She breathed in, her breath shaky." My little sister is not so little anymore. She has become a leader. It is time for me to go. She no longer has to be afraid."
She embraced me in a hug, wrapping her arms around me. I pulled back, and smiled at her. "I will miss you, my Queen."
She laughed. "I shall miss you too, my dearest friend."
She stood up. "Oh, and Lilah?"
"Yes, my Queen?"
"Tell her I wasn't scared."
I nodded, and she stepped forward, walking away from the boulder we had been hidden behind.
I watched as she walked away, the orange glow of the sun illuminating her figure. Her hair blew in the gentle breeze as the sky became black with night, and her distant silhouette disappeared.
"Goodbye, my Queen."
The woman stood on the balcony, looking out at the sky in front of her.
I walked over to her, and placed a hand on her shoulder, squeezing gently.
"She wasn't scared Kaira. She loves you. She knew what she was doing - you have no need to feel fear any longer."
"I know..." the girl whispered, clutching the golden crown in her hands tighter as a tear rolled down her cheek.
"But she was an amazing Queen. The best there ever was. She died protecting her kingdom."
"No. She died protecting you. You are her sister, and she loves you."
Her silver hair swayed in the breeze as she stared at the birds soaring together.
I got down on one knee, and lowered my head. "I know you are ready. Your time has come, my Queen."
"No."
She turned to face me.
"I am not your Queen."
She smiled at me, silver eyes gazing into my own.
"I am your friend. You shall no longer bow down before me - you are my equal."
She placed a hand on my shoulder.
"I truly love you, my dearest friend. It is time you get the ending you deserve."
I watched from the crowd as the golden crown was placed upon her head. The Queen of two kingdoms - my truest friend. Her silver gown shimmered in the light, and her eyes met my own. She smiled. I smiled back, and I felt a tear roll down my cheek. My Queen would be proud of her. She looks calm, all fear gone. The day swiftly passes, night blanketing the castle as I watched the celebrations from afar.
A tap on my shoulder caused me to turn, and I saw Kaira standing there, her silver crown in her hands. She was wearing a silver dress that ended at her knees.
She placed the silver crown upon my head.
My eyes widened.
"Lilah... I know you have no desire to be Queen. You are a fighter, an adventurer. But I hope you return to see me again someday. If ever you need me, or desire help, this crown will let all know that you are my sister, and you shall have two kingdoms by your side, ready to help in any way that we can."
"But I am not your sister, Kaira - I am your friend."
"You are a sister to me. Maybe not by blood, but by friendship and love. Take this crown, and with it wield the protection and loyalty of two kingdoms and one Queen."
I nodded, and embraced her in a hug, wrapping my arms around her. "We shall meet again, sister."

As the blade pierced his chest he fell, his once polished silver armour now broken and dented. I heard him whisper beneath his helmet.

The battle raged on but in this moment nothing mattered.

I looked around the royal guard was being cut down. Men and women I have known since childbirth were taking thier last breath.....

That I gave myself to save my men. Tell her of my love...and that I will be waiting for her and to forgive me." His words had been given to her through her guards; but it didn't numb the pain. Now staring out into the distance, the sunset casting brilliant red hughes through the kingdom, she could feel him with her. Smiling down at her. Always with her. A single tear falling as she smiled slowly. "Forever my love"

Wind blew into his face as the moonlight reflected in his eyes, standing at the river where battered and beaten soldiers laid.
“Tell her that I have no regrets.” His voice was shaky, but shone with confidence and sureness, like an arrow piercing through the sky. “Tell her that I fought... and that I- *we* won.” A proud smile shone on his face as his knees buckled below him, falling to the crimson-stained ground.
“And tell her... that I loved her.” His shining eyes glanced back, gold and indigo in a perfect unison. His smile never wavered, despite the rain that seemed to fall down his face. “Tell Vire that I love her... and that she’s beautiful.”
The horn’s call resounded through the fields, a new beginning coming forth from a withered and scorched past. The sea of regrets evaporated, and soon, all that was left was the vivid seabed, speckled with shells of hope.
And the boy fell, passing on his final words. He lived, fought, won... and died.

After my mother took her life, I wondered alot if she knew we were all with her. That we stayed by her side whole the paramedics tried to pull her back to us. I wondered if she was scared. I ask her this alot now. I still talk with her. And then this poped up. She sends me signs almost every day now. She is so powerful and beautiful and I am more connected to her now than I ever was. Thanks for putting this out. I appreciate it.

Connor laid on the battlefield, heaving through his collapsed lung, clutching at the gash in his stomach. He knew he couldn't stop the bleeding, but there was something, some voice telling him to hold on, to stay awake.
Another soldier trudged through the rubble and shrapnel.
"Jay, I won't make it. Just go, there will be more."
"I won't leave without you." Jay inspected Connor's wounds quickly, before ripping off his shirt and tying it over the wound. "I'm taking you with me, getting you to a medic."
"No, I'm not gonna make it."
But Jay heaved Connor over his shoulder, and began to trek back to the line. Connor wheezed and coughed.
"Jay, it's over."
"What about Anna? And Jess, what about Jess? You have to make it home, for them."
"Stop. Put me down." Connor's voice was full of defeat. "I don't wanna go. But I won't make it, yeah?" He began to tremble; he couldn't tell if it was the blood loss or the fear of his looming death. He reached a hand towards Jay. Jay took it gently.
"Come on, Connor."
"Jay, tell them..." his voice trembled, "Jess, tell Jess that Daddy fought very hard out there. Tell her that to be a hero, you never give up on what you believe in." He coughed again, this time spitting out blood. "And Anna," his voice became weaker. "Tell her I love her. Tell her... Tell her I wasn't scared."
As Connor went limp, Jay watched in shock. He gently closed Connor's eyelids. "Godspeed, Connor. Godspeed," he whispered.
Jay held back tears as he lifted Connor's limp body and once again began the trek to the line.
Tell her that I saw the pink sky, Tell her that I saw purple waves, Tell her that my sword has been stained, Tell her that my journey didn't end, Tell her that I will come to her as the blossom and wipe her tears, Tell her that even though I might have left this world I will never leave her hand , Tell her that I loved her, Tell her that I wasn't Scared..

Tell her I was more scared to live in a world without my brothers. My sisters. My friends. Family. Her. I was more scared of that world. Tell her I did it....and I stood true... because of their bravery to help stand me up.

Awesome piece....I will definitely use this as I write...beautifully captured the heartache and sadness of a message being sent on the last, labored breaths of a hero.
In the ruins of a falling kingdom, her father gone, her mother long in the halls of kings, her sister, her last remaining kin, the heir to a now desolate kingdom, hidden into the night.
"Princess please, I can still make way for your escape. The savages have not yet found the tunnels" Her once proud knight pleads in desperation.
Thin shoulders barely 13 summers tremble, hands tightly clenched into fists
"One of us has to be here when they come, it has to be me, it can only be me. If she is found then our kingdom is truly lost. I am not brave or clever, I can shoot no arrows nor can I command armies, this is the only thing I can do for my land now. Go, find my sister and pledge to her as you once did me"
He kneels in silence watching little birdlike shoulders tremble in what he knows is fear. The savages will not be kind, her death will not be quick. They will torture her for sins not her own. He wants to shout and rage, be once insurbodinate and reckless but he is bound by his duty as she is hers, he knows she is also aware of her fate and he cannot deprive her this last choice. He swallows his pain and feels his soul die as he asks
"Is there something I should tell her highness?"
She remains in silence and finally says "She has only seen me as a turtle, sheltered and afraid...Tell her of a me she has not seen. Tell her I was brave, tell her I did not once falter, tell her I did our name proud, tell her I went to my death with my head held high, that they did not break me...tell her I wasn't scared, not even once... till the very end...even if none of it is true"
And with a tearful smile, she takes one last look at her kingdom ablaze and walks to meet her fate.
It is not for Greed that man Marches against the Darkness, But for Love, For Hope and For all that we Cherish. Be of good cheer, of stout heart and be Brave, For we are Scared no Longer and Our Path is Clear.
We will get through this pandemic, together..!

The global economy wasn't the strongest before the pandemic and economists have been talking about a recession for years, with the majority of the world's workers in quarantine a global recession is almost inevitable. The army stood before the city roaring and clashing.......the sky was dark and the ground was slick with blood.
“Brother will you do something for me.....”
He said as he lifted me up from the mud.
“We have lost! The city will fall!”
Was all I could say. He knelt down and brought his face down to mine.
“No! Not yet!!! I can save us!!!! It is the only way!”
That was when I realized what he was doing. That somber and yet humbled look in his eyes.
“No brother! It will kill you!”
“Yes.....yes it will.....but better I die then the city fall”
He then stood and looked out over the field and I saw a tranquility fall over him. He reached around his neck and broke the necklace. He kneeled down and held it out.
“You must do something for me......”
He said. I knew what it was and I couldn’t allow it I couldn’t do it.
“No brother no!”
He took my hands and placed the amulet in them.
“Tell her I wasn’t afraid........ promise me brother.......”
I sat there frozen I couldn’t believe he was doing this my selfish,arrogant, brother doing his for a city he didn’t want and a love he thought he didn’t deserve.
“Brother! Promise me!!!!”
I looked into his eyes. Now sure and confident he was finally a man and I knew that he needed me to do this.
“I promise brother........”
And with that he put me on his horse and the last I saw of him Was him and him alone drawing his sword before the army of thousands..........

The sky was grey, and the two men walked next to each other in silence.
From behind them, they could hear the haunting screams of war. They both froze, and looked at each other hesitantly.
“Daemon’s army has attacked” one quietly mumbled, he then sighed.
“Kai”. The other one said softly.
“Kai, I’m sorry”. He continued.
Kai stopped. Had he really just apologized? And after all this time, why before a war?
“Why are you sorry Asher?” He spoke coldly. “You have done nothing but hurt me”.
Asher didn’t say anything, he just bit his tongue, and kept walking. Not meeting Kai’s grey eyes.
“All of this pain, over a girl?” Kai whispered, not knowing if he was angry, or sad. Kai felt as if he was choking, and no matter what he did to fight it, tears stung his eyes. He bit his lip, and quickly wiped his left eye with the back of his hand.
“The funny thing was, it wasn’t over her” Asher confessed meekly. He could feel his face on fire, but tried to ignore it.
Kai was confused. If it wasn’t over Annabelle, then why did this all happen? Why had he have to deal with Asher’s torment for years?
“I’m confused, explain yourself”. Kai said calmly, but with a hint of aggression.
“Kai I lo-“ Asher began to say.
Suddenly a woman appeared, calling Ashers name repeatedly.
“Asher” the girl screamed desperately.
Asher, and Kai spun around in surprise. Behind them they could see a woman with long, sun kissed, blonde hair, running up to them. Kai knew it was inappropriate, but chuckled as she almost tripped over her long sky blue dress.
“Annabelle”, Asher breathed in shock.
“Asher before you go off and fight, I need you to know something”. Annabelle said breathlessly, stopping and catching her breath in between words.
“What’s wrong?” Asher replied coolly. Kai couldn’t help but notice he also sounded slightly annoyed.
“I’m pregnant”. Annabelle whispered shyly.
Kai’s heart dropped. Just when I thought something was going to happen between-.
Ashers voice interrupted his thought.
“W-what?” Asher said, almost as if he was scared. And then his mind flashed back to the night he, and Annabelle went to a party, and got drunk.
“If you die, I’ll tell her you were a honorable soldier” Annabelle than bolted out of view, and towards the stone castle behind them. Kai, and Asher didn’t do anything but watch her run away.
The boys were quiet, and shyly looked at each other. Not knowing what to say, or do. They both just continued staring at each other.
“Kai” Asher said shakily.
“What Asher?” Kai replied.
“Kai, I love you, I just didn’t know how to tell you. Every since we started fighting over Annabelle, I started to like you, I didn’t know how to deal with my emotions, and loving two people at the same time. And I understand if you don’t love, or forgive me” Asher took a deep breath, and confessed to Kai, stuttering the whole time.
Kai’s mouth was slightly open, and he couldn’t believe Asher had just said that. He didn’t know how to think, feel, do, or say, in response to Asher’s little speech. He sighed, and smiled slightly, knowing just what to say.
“I love you too, Asher”.
Asher grinned, and blushed. He then leaned down, and the two shared a shy kiss.
“If I die, I need you to do something for me.” Asher said with a smile, even though tears rolled down his pink cheeks.
“What is is?” Kai said, his emotions now betraying him, and tears spilled.
“I need you to watch over my baby”. Asher said sadly, but with desperation in his voice.
Kai was a bit startled with Ashers request, but because he loved him, he accepted.
“And another thing, Kai” Asher said, now crying slightly harder.
“Tell her I wasn’t scared”.
NINE MONTHS LATER:
It had been nine months since Asher died in the war. Many had passed away, Annabelle, Rachel, Sam, and others. Kai was anointed king of Asterin. He had been blessed by Annabelle, and was also chosen to be The godfather of little Ashlynn Chaska. She was to be the next ruler of Asterin, and was being raised by Kai, and was nicknamed Ashlynn the strong, because a prophet had foretold she would grow to be a strong person, with a big spirit. Kai had not moved on romantically since Ashers death. He had been content with Ashlynn, and his kingdom to keep him company.
One day Kai felt sad, and took Ashlynn to look at the sunset. As he held the young princess he started out at the sky, a tear rolled down his cheek, but he smiled. It was a sad smile, one that was made of loneliness, and bittersweetness. He knew that one day he would rejoin Asher, but for now he will continue being the best king he could be, and raise Ashlynn to be a great leader.
Almost out of nowhere a white essence appeared in front of Kai. But Kai wasn’t scared, in fact he felt the opposite. A ghost of Asher had visited him, and he wanted to cry.
“Hey king” Asher spoke lovingly, using the nickname Kai was given as a child. Kai smiled.
“Hey Ash” Kai responded quietly. Then Asher disappeared. Kai then looked down at Ashlynn, tears flowing down his face like a stream.
“I’ll tell her, you weren’t scared”.
Tell him, that he brought me to my knees in pain and sorrow, that him leaving me caused me so much grief and pain in my life, that I found myself again… hell have no fury, like a woman scorned.
Though it might be the end of me in this moment, right here and now, I won't be gone.
Tell her I wasn't scared, so that she can walk bravely through life, knowing I'm right next to her.
He looks at her one last time, as the sounds of the hunters comes closer, as she lays there, dead to the world, slowly breathing. A small sad smile comes over his face. "We never could get the timing right, and even now I cant tell you-" he looks down and sighs. He looks at her, his eyes drinking her in, he brushes her hair out of her face, one last time. He slowly, gently kisses her forehead and then stands up. He looks at his friend watching him. "Get her out of here" He looks at him and as their eyes meet, he slowly nods and gently picks her up. As he starts to climb up to safety he stops as he looks behind him at his friend who stands there alone, facing the oncoming darkness. His friend looks at him, then looks at her and a smile breaks over his face, "Tell her I wasnt scared, would you do that for me?" Tears run down his friends face, and he nods. He continues to climb higher and higher as he hears screams and howls behind him, tears running down his face. When he reaches the top, the screams stop, he gently lays her down and slumps to the ground as finally he lets his tears fall to the ground, and sobs rack through his body as he mourns his friend. Her eyes flutter, and slowly open, her vision blurry at first, as it comes into focus, she looks down from the heights and she sees him, surrounded by shapes that lie rent and torn on the ground. He stands there, blade in hand, and she watches as he drops it, and falls to his knees, and he slowly collapses to the ground, brave to his last breath.
Tell him I wasn't afraid... I wasn't afraid to face my enemy... I wasn't afraid to face every obstacle in my life until my last breath... Tell him I wasn't afraid to die because I know that one day our souls will be united forever

Time is a funny thing, isn't it?
How the sweet summer days fly by like birds in the bright blue sky. How the endless hours of waiting, planning in the shadows seem to stretch out for all eternity. How one moment can be played over an over in a never-ending song.
These last moments, as I hold onto life's sweet breath, they shift and jump and shiver in my heart. The sky above me, it glows with the dying sun, as I shall be soon too.
"Maera!" Soft, warm hands slicked scarlet slide through my hair, casting my worn helmet aside. Kae's face above me shines with... is it hope? No. I see it now, thinly veiled sadness and desparation. It is plain that this isn't a battle I can win. My eyes focus on his. Sea blue, with fire and flood and pain and hate and regret, they stare hopelessly at the arrows lodged in my chest.
"Maera, I should have stayed by your side. My sister, can you forgive me?" His voice trembles like a leaf. Why should it? I was never bitter in the first place.
"Kae-my-friend, I have no fear. It was inevitable, I suppose. You know that," I smile up at him. "Runi..." My voice trails off into a gasp. My love, she knows not of my fate! Oh, and I promised her I would return, that we would dance together under the stars. I don't have long now. I can see it in his eyes.
"Kae, tell her..."
"Maera!"

I wasn’t scared when the fight came to my line with the enemy and friends alike screaming in hate and jealousy, I wasn’t scared when the arrows rained all around me striking friend and foe alike with no sense of comradely I wasn’t scared, I wasn’t scared when my soldiers, friends, and family died surrounding me, fighting till their last breath with no sign of stopping, I wasn’t scared! I wasn’t scared of them... but I sure was scared at what they showed what was inside of me.
The monster that I was in the crevices of my mind that showed when hope no longer shined. The primal beast of hate that I was forged to create with this war raging all around me. I was scared. But not because of the enemy that I hated so dearly... I was scared because I forgot the promise you made to me. Of peaceful fields when we were young, of forests of green and plenty and not this hell hole I am experiencing... I forgot my promise to come home... and that terrified me. So as I lay in this field of chaos and forest of brown and decay thinking of the day that I made... thinking of the day that I made a promise that failed... I failed you. And that very thought terrifies me. So tell my love that I died on this hill through the fields we played through when we were young that I died without fear of the enemy...but that I died...I died in this...field of plenty.

Tell her I wasn't scared. Remind her of all the memories we had when we were kids, the promise I made to her to always return. Tell her that I always knew she would worry for me, and how I realize there isn't much I can do to placate her. Tell her whenever I left to the battlefield that I always held her in my mind and heart, to remind me of who I was to return to. Tell her of my plans to spend the rest of my life with her.

A girl,standing alone under the oak tree,staring the night sky with a very lonely small back of hers.
She once held the tiny hand of that lil boy who was like a stray kitten.
She told the boy that,
" If u can't change it the way u want, then just enjoy it to the fullest to f*ck it back. "
She was so brave that she faced those hardships he got, together.
She drew out the boy's refreshing laughters,new sets of emotions,that he never thought he could have.
She taught him how to smile a lot,
She taught him how to be greedy,
She taught him how to be selfish,
She taught him how to be a human properly.
They both grew up together till that skinny lil boy was surpassing her height so obviously and becoming a man.
He,then could handle all the things by himself without getting her involved,even though he was still a bit clumsy and silly.
She felt proud of him.
She could see how much he improved and how much he was trying to become more better.
He was definitely not a friendly guy but still his bright smiles only existed for her,and her alone.
They managed the business together.
One day,suddenly fire broke out at their base.
She was away at that time, bringing back the fruits he liked, thinking how he likes cute and small things like those unlike his blank little face.
Then she heard the news,she headed there in a hurry.
Felt relived seeing all the kids and her friends safe but then she finally saw,the only one lying on the ground in the centre of the crowds.
His clothes were burnt here and there and he was covered with wounds.

She couldn't hear anything at all what people saying. She just sat down beside him.
He was barely breathing. He opened his eyes but he didn't seem to see things at all.

A crown meant nothing without the support of the citizens. War was arriving and she was helpless to stop it. If only there was some other way. If only she had more time.
