Normally when characters start to reach superhuman levels of speed and reaction it is difficult to notice any impact or friction between the combatants, but it was very clear how much Rimuru was at his limit until the Prediction Skill was added into the equation.
And that skill is only limited by reaction speed, which isnt a problem for a slime who thinks years in the span of seconds.
he can speed up his mind by millions of time you can see the fight from great saints part in a split second it is the real speed of fight so now 1 sec is equal to 1 million to 9 million in his mind after some time it becomes 100s of millions
It's the battle experiences, usually seeing the attack require time to react to such an attack.
Prediction just took the time thinking aside and give the solution to where the attack will land.
Thus faster reaction speed and counter even with the same time frame.
It is a cheap version of Ultra Instinct since the body wouldn't even think, just react.
I remember reading somewhere on Reddit that this entire fight could have been over very quickly since Rimuru was way stronger. However Raphael keeps making Rimuru panic just so she can learn new skills and adapt to other attacks.
There is that aswell, but i dunno if that was a comment on the LN or the WN since in the WN Rimuru at this point in time would be able to basicaly body any amount Hinatas and at the end of the fight got to the point where he was completly immune to anything she could do, but dunno how it is in LN and therefore anime maybe its the same here aswell

Well not actually. Rudeus can literally see the future while this one "just" predicts attacks. It's a fight spcialised skill while Rudeus' is multifunctional. So I'd say It's a version that may be even better for a fight but less useful othervise.

According to LN there was so much hits that Raphael gathered the required data to develop the skill in no time, so it was actually thanks to Hinata being so fast, at this point in time she is well above the likes of Carrion and Frey and only below true demon lords, named primordials and true dragons.

All monsters can acquire/generate any skills, but only few can do so as quickly and cleanly as Rimuru does.

Its a point that if it werent for his ability to combine skills it would actually be harmful to him to have as many as he does. Turns out and minor spoiler without the exact details but the max Ultimates a soul can safely have is 4.
Altough any powerful anough being can develop his own skills, those of unique and ultimate nature are reserved to be a reflexion of the soul. Rimuru can develop skill so fast thanks to 3 main components, Belzebub's food chain, Raphael computational domain and Deviant's synthesis (Shizue skill), which are all later combined into Lord of Harvest, Shubb-Nigurath

Hinata's experience makes for a tough fight - not a stomp but no serious match for this demon lord.
Rimuru spoke too soon, the battle isn’t over until someone is incapable of continuing the fight. A cornered person is dangerous after all.

I‘m sorry, but I can’t help but roll my eyes when the central conflict of the plot revolves around the characters failing to communicate. Fight is cool, but goddammit guys, I know the message has been tampered with but no "why" from Rimuru? No "I wanted to talk" from Hinata? -.-
I mean... people failing to talk when they SHOULD happens FAR too often in real life...

There's already plenty of suspension of disbelief going into fantasy stories, like if the bad guys get deus ex machina's to help them barely anyone bats an eye but if the protagonists do it feels lazy, so I feel like assuming that everyone is capable of avoiding horrendous misunderstandings to avoid frustrating plot developments isn't too much to ask. For me, misunderstandings causing major plot developments are a very frustrating trope anyway.

@@bondrewd5935 In the fight, there was literally a moment where Hinata said that she wanted to talk, which almost ended the entire fight had she not already fully charged her attack. They both wanted to talk, but refused to attempt to do so when meeting the other because of the assumption, due to not communicating, that the other wanted to fight. Yes, the problem was instigated by an outsider, but aside from that this is a picture book example of miscommunication.

Honestly, the didn't show a large part of the whole thing. It was better described in the LN. The fights between Rimuru's subordinates and the Saints were also described in much more detail.
Rimuru wasn't as calm and casual about this as the anime shown. Especially after the Melt Slash. Dude lost his balance so much that he couldn't stand up, ears ringing, lost about ~70% magicules, most of his skills got scrambled and turned off and Raphael was unresponsive for some time, iirc

People are salty in both sides. Some say Hinata was cheating with the weakening barrier. Now people are complaining about Rimuru ușing Raphael and developing countermeasures to Hinata's attacks.
It's in the power set of both of those characters, in a 1v1 fight.

I am actually starting to get annoyed by the show to make it seem as if Rimuru is actually in danger just to clarify after the fact that he is indeed way stronger than his opponent. It just gets repetitive...

Currently, Hinata stomps Benimaru, Souei and Shion. She also stomps Frey and Carrion.
At this moment of time Hinata is a Saint, Human equivalent of a Demon Lord, so anything below True Demon lord losses to her, including all of Rimuru's staff, except maybe Diablo, but they would be extremely close to each other, later on, yes, there are a good 5 of Rimuru's underlings that can beat her. Right now she is only below the octagram itself and some yet to appear characters.
